- Going through and ranking every single Combat Patrol based on how good it is as a combat patrol. This is not a comparison of them versus each other, instead looking at them on their own merits.

The worst part of the Space Marine Combat Patrol is that you get none of the extra loadout bits for the Terminators or Captain. So getting an box of Terminators, Terminator Captain and Infernus Marines seperately is STILL an better option than the Combat Patrol even if it's ever so slitghly more expensive. Not to mention you get 10 Infernus Marines by doing that rather than 5.
The worst part about the Space Marine combat patrol is **gestures wildly**
You have 3 extra Plague marines in the Death Guard combat patrol, because on each poxwalker sprew there's half of one. You gotta kitbash a tiny bit but it's really not too hard. That brings it to actually 470 points
Thank you for the amazing content.
My pleasure!
Did not know that the Tau CP came with the KT sprue. Thank you,I learned something
Based on the sprue in the box and second hand word from others it is. I have not bought it so I can't guarantee it
@@Speeds_Gaming_Corner Tau is just a painting project for me but if I could form a KT then sweet, if not then that's cool too. I can't remember if Tau are part of the upcoming CP Hachette magazines but if they are then cool.
The best part about Tsons combat patrol is that it will change as gw do with every faction release during 10th. So new CP will be better or it will be just 30 tzangors with Arhiman, which would be hilariously funny so win/win situation
Inb4 its 20 Tzaangor, 3 enlightened tzaangor, and a tzaangor shaman.
@@Speeds_Gaming_Cornerthat wouldn't necessarily be a *terrible* AOS box 💀
Thank you again so much for the combat patrol and for all the amazing content! Bud is very excited to face off against the Harlequins 😊
Crazy part about the Astra Militarum CP, is that if you look at the army as a whole, the Infantry is what ends up costing you out the nose, especially if you magnetize your tanks/vehicles, you buy 3/4 leman russ kits, 2-3 dorn's, a couple of other vehicles (many of which can be magnetized to be an either/or type of deal like the Hydra kit) and off you go. It doesn't FEEL very good, but GW gave us a discount on the most expensive part of the army...so objectively speaking, it's better than its reputation says it is
Great video
Great video especially for someone new to the hobby. Want to start start salamders but not sure what box or combination of boxes to pick up. What would you recommend?
Blood angels + death watch. Flamer Aggressors and transports are everything firestorm wants
Space Marine combat patrol doesn’t even have a battle line unit. Yet I find myself with two of them since I have an ultimate starter set and found a levithan box. I have lots of Tyranids, now just have to use your Space Marine and Tyranids videos to grow them into a useful force
I don't mind a combat patrol NOT having a battleline. Sometimes armies only have 1 option for the role and so having something that isn't battle line is perfectly acceptable to me.
This combat patrol would be legitimately fine if it had another unit in it. You could fit an entire $65 unit into this box and it would still be a lower value box than several on this list.
I would argue that the space marine upgrade sprue is actually the single greatest value in a box so long as you're playing that chapter or a successor. I bought two of the Blood Angel sprue on their own and I'm able to convert a jump intercessor box into a jump captain and two jump priests with spare bits and bodies for future projects depending on the needs of my growing army. Turning basic troops into leaders is an amazing money saving tactic.
But man being a BA player feels awkard. No matter the box, it all feels like support units to supplement the main army of jump pack guys. And the holiday box is only better than MSRP if you care about dumb bike units and then it's barely a discount worth considering.
The upgrade sprue has value, but that value comes at the cost of actual playable units. That is why I dislike it.
Understandable. If you're actually looking to play the namesake of the game it's gonna feel bad. And it's going to feel extra bad if your ComPat wasn't great in the first place.
Man I hope the new Blood Angels ComPat comes with actual jump units. Shame GW probably won't. They seem too affraid to put redundant models in boxes unless it's Intercessors.
I have to say that I really enjoy the Tyranid Combat Patrol. You get great variety and every unit is usable (since the point reduction of the psycophage) and the fact that you can get it even cheaper with the starter box is a great plus.
I'll probably get another one before the end of the edition
And speaking of the giveaways
How far would you ship them?
I would try to order them from a dealer/retailer in your area as I don't ship them from where I live.
The reason why DG was so bad was because of the 9th ed rule where you couldn't take all 30 Poxwalkers straight out of the box. you HAD to buy either another box of Plague Marines or one of the Terminator units to use all of them.
it's better now that that rule no longer exists, but the box is still haunted by it's past.
I have people still telling me its the worst box. Yea in 9th edition it was a travesty, but that doesn't mean its bad now.
TBF, when the DG box came out, you probably wouldn't have ran all 30 walkers anyway as it would have put you over 500pts. When the box released the units had higher base points and Marines didn't have free wargear. Honestly they could have only had 20 in the box and it would have met their criteria.....though it would have been lackluster savings (and I wouldn't have gotten the extra Marine from the PW sprue to make a 10th marine )
Thousand sons combat patrol will never not be funny to me. I hope when they remake it they just remove the 5 terminators and add another 10 zangors just for the laughs
They make a new tzaangor daemon character to make it tzaangors only.
The Dark Angel Codex / Combat Patrol was NOT well received.
At least the codex is better now.
