I was going to comment on this! I notice that the old AdMech list is still on WarComm, which is great!! Hopefully they just keep *adding* to the CP lists available and not remove them.
FYI - The Editors note in WD496 states that "[...] I'm really excited about the Strike Team Solarien Combat Patrol [...] And this is the first many; you can look foward to more Combat Patrol lists here in future issues, like (hint, hint) the Tyranids one in the next issue."
So, that's awesome news! I'm personally hoping for Kroot and Armies of the Imperium!
As a dream, I'd love Iron Warriors... CP as a format offers a relative cheap, quick and easy way to add lots more flavoured 'mini-armies' to the arena.
Have you had any success getting Knights (Chaos/Imperial) to work in Combat Patrol mode? Conventional wisdom is that 3 Wardogs/Armigers and the Index would be "balanced", but I am wondering if that's true in practice. I think it'd be a good idea for a video since those two factions are functionally locked out of the mode atm
@@davidgoldstein3348there isn't a whole lot anti tank in combat patrol. I think an army wholly out of armored walkers is something basically no other combat patrol can handle.
the terminators in the space marine combat patrol have proven to be an unkillable deaethball with sustained hits and oath of moment to me at least

I really love the combat patrol focus of this channel. Combat Patrol is way underrated and all I see on most channels or reddit are people complaining about how the new boxes are getting worse without understanding that they are being curated specifically for the combat patrol game mode. This is exactly the kind of content I'm craving and would love to see more videos that discuss in depth tactics for each of the boxes ❤

I love that you are covering these boxes, both from the point of view of combat patrol as a game mode and in the greater 40K sense. Make no mistake, if I have a completely free evening and a handful of friends (and obviously a bunch of adult beverages) I'm all about doing a team 3000+ point match, the bigger the better, but as a real adult with real demands on my time, honestly combat patrol is it, a buddy stops over, or I head to their place, we knock out a game over a beer or a tea, have a laugh, catch up, get back to life's necessities and there's very little coverage for this stuff outside of being simply value boxes for full 2k army's, keep doing what your doing man, this is awesome

Agreed! I'm relatively new to the hobby and really just wanted to paint some cool figures.
Combat Patrol seems like a great option for people like me with a family and other responsibilities.
Money to build a 2000 point army, 3 to 4 hours to play one game.... I mean... And all the videos on combat patrol largely about the value for building your 2000 point army.
I'm honestly thinking of painting up 4 or more of these eventually. So I can have options to play with my kids and other friends who don't want to build their own army.
Nice! This is actually making me consider other boxes that i hadn't before. I love this game format because i really enjoy most factions for their lore, and I would love to paint , play and collect them all, but I cant justify paying for that many 1k armies. I like that i can just buy a box, get some cool iconic units, and play with them without having to think of all the logistical list building, meta, or even army painting at scale. Hope to see more of this format!

Looking back at this atter playing the (now old) Tau CP, the ethereal was the 2nd strongest unit in that army (next to the ghostkeel) ONLY because his enhancements absolutely slapped. The +1 save and 5+ FNP to nearby infantry made the army an absolute raidboss to take down when it had absolutely no right to be, and he had lone op and hes super fast, so hes insanely hard to kill....

I just played the new Ork combat patrol vs the Drukari one. By turn 2 my opponent only had 7 Kabalite warriors with the Archon left and she had only killed 1 Beast boy... 😵💫
I have the Aeldari, Votann, CSM, SoB, Tyranid and Space Marines patrols and I think you are spot on where you ranked those :P ... Tbh about the Aeldari one, it is so good that it isn't really funny anymore imho. (well unless you are the one piloting it and like to own your opponent lol)
I do wonder how these patrols will evolve over time. It seems GW is set on replacing all patrols when they bring out the codex for those factions. This might be a good thing from a gameplay perspective even if we get less bang for our buck.
I think naming the combat patrols as you review them more than right at the beginning of your description would help the video for people watching it on their phones as the images are really small and I found myself skipping back an awful lot to figure out which one you were talking about. A lot of "this one" when you could have named the faction again, even once or twice.
That aside, great vid, appreciate your work on this. Not enough Combat Patrol material on RUclips, so thank you!

Love that you went into matchups and saying that strong->meh are all on to play against each other. great guidance to give to new players so there no really bad matchups. Sounds like for space marines, using proxies and going for another marine list, maybe solarien, is the way to go

I actually played the Wolves in a Combat Patrol tournament. Lost to DA because the Redemptor was very tough and it was my first game in the format, but won against both marines and DE. The Invictor helps, but being able to deep strike some infantry with the reivers is actually kinda clutch. Whatever else I might think about it, it did feel fun to play.

One minor bit of criticism: try to broaden your range of phrases. The amount of "nothing to write home about" and "all that good stuff" is through the roof, to the point of getting quite annoying.
Still an excellent ranking, and as far as I am aware the only one of its kind on RUclips. Please, more of this!

Played Solarien on Sunday vs a buddy and I really enjoyed it! I'm certain it'll melt pretty quick though!
He was playing the DA combat patrol. I got the win on points after getting tabled.

I’ve played a few games of Necrons into Sisters, and I just cannot win. I don’t know if it’s a bad matchup, or what, but I find that they very easily kill my Necron Warriors, and have enough units to just overwhelm the board
I know this is an old comment, but I did see a necron combat patrol being tabled by sisters in my LGS league recently in 1 round and necron player had to forfeit. Which I find really shocking since I don't even know how I could defat a necron player with my space marines.
As someone who plays a lot of LoV, their combat is extremely sub par. Id probably put it in the "bad"category. 6+ saves on your strongest unit. (beserks) and very slow moving. they will die before you can get an opportunity to do anything.
the rules make you choose between splitting your warriors to increase your board control and provide your opponent another unit to destroy to generate judgment. or keep them together with the kahl to make use of the enhancments and strats. you can't have it both. choose survivabilty/killability or risky board control. 4+ saves across the army and no invuln makes them very easy to take out turn 1 or 2. Only 1 weapon with 1 attack that can do much against vehicles and walkers and it hits on 5+.
Id probably put it Above tsons.

I am rather new to 40k, why would infernus benefit from being battleline?
Battleline usually have "Sticky Objectives" in this format.
