The "hair" is clearly a shadow, so it looks like some object either fell or was set down on the floor. Probably a piece of gear from one of the other patrons, and the reflecting light off the floor is making it appear much brighter than it probably is. It probably wasn't there anymore because they picked it up. It definitely seems too small to be a person imo. The "orb," is indeed a speck of dust. Air particles are in the air all the time, with a little sunlight you can see them easily. I imagine it's difficult to keep that church spotless, and so a speck of dust drifted into the camera's view.
strang how its in front of a staircase tho... if it were a shadow it wouldve been washed out... but this is as clear as day that it was something in front of it... ghost or otherwise... even though he said he was there and nothing was in that corridor
@@evobsm2328 Why is it strange for an object sitting in front of a staircase to cast a shadow? Keep in mind the strong lighting they use for filming. Why is it strange for other people to place objects down when most of them are probably there to film something scary happening? I'm sure people have set down items in a place you just were before. It seems a pretty likely explanation to me. If I use the restroom at a restaurant, I don't assume a ghost magically made my food appear on the table in my absence.
The first one is odd - especially if it wasn't there in later shots or when you went into the hall. But the second one is absolutely a dust mote. Years ago, when I first joined VSO, I had to go on a training week at Harborne Hall in Birmingham. Even the name suggests Gothic horror. It dates back to the Domesday Book, it was a military hospital at one point with a morgue, I think nuns were involved somewhere along the line... Back in the day, I had an old digital camera with me and took a few snaps around the estate. When I got home and put them onto my computer, I was stunned to see a picture of the room I stayed in, with dozens of these ghostly, white orbs floating around like Will-o'-the-wisp. I'd never seen anything like it before and was convinced it was something paranormal, until I showed it to a photographer friend and he explained what caused it. I was both relieved and a little disappointed at the same time. The mystery is often more fun than the answer.
It is pretty uncanny how that thing in the prison looked like a woman on the floor depressed with her head down. Likely just an object casting a shadow or something but it is still such a cool thing to happen. I'm 99.9% science and logic but even within science there are grey areas. I remember hearing an explanation from a physics professor who was trying his best to give SOME credit toward the possibilities of ghosts. He made a statement about the laws of physics and especially the law of conservation of energy and energy not being created or destroyed. He went on to point out that if there was even a slight possibility of some ghostly apparition it would be some weird residual energy that was isolated in the system, the final acts of a human, the final life force, staying trapped. I thought that was really cool of him to brainstorm on an issue like that.
There is a much easier explanation than "something scientific". Human nature. Something they noted during the video was that there were several people staying in various cells and that they were encouraged to walk around at night and tour the facility. If you take 20 people and shove them in a "scary" place, it's pretty much guaranteed that at least one person will spend all their time trying to scare the shit out of everyone else. I'm guessing that's what this was. By the time they got down there, the person had probably moved on, possibly targeting specific people.
I love hearing theories from people who legit are really able to make then due to have such knowledge on the subject. The best part about being human and having an education or have learned something is the theories we can come up with that may actually be true.
@@kohlfrog One time I went to a corn maze with friends around Halloween, and we solved it really fast and ran out of things to do, so we decided to turn it into a haunted corn maze: we hid in the corn and made rustling noises when people walked by. It was a dark night and the maze was really poorly lit so we really freaked some people out. If I were in a haunted prison, I could see myself trying to creepily slip into the backgrounds of people's shots.
Old buildings and ghosts reminds me of a story my Mum told me. My mum and dad waay back in 1988 were on holiday staying in an old mansion turned B&B in Scotland, and one middle of the night my mum heard this rhythmic thump thump thump coming from the outside of their bedroom door. My mum was a bit spooked and told my dad to check it out, when he opened the door he looked down and surprise surprise it was the resident Great Dane taking a nap at their door. The thumping coming from the wagging of the dog's tail against the door. Lol!!
I think they’re both a trick of the light. When you watch the one in the prison you can see that the circle of the light covers the object and when the camera shifts you can see to the end of the hallway.
we just heard the news so happy for you both you are two great people and deserve the best. also one comment on sharla channel said its the best news since ross and rachel it so bloody true. i could see it coming.
In a lot of ghost sightings the ghost looks as solid as any person, cast shadows, the whole shibang. It’s only when they suddenly disappear or do something impossible people realize they aren’t of this world. Good catch 👍
I'd say that a lot more than just one of those cells had a gnarly story to it if other prisons are anything to go by! Still a few of those old style places with the open landings still in use. It's possibly one of the most intimidating experiences to walk onto one of those wings for the first time and you look up to see 3 landings of inmates staring over the railings to see who the new guy is!
The black "head" is a shadow projected on the steps behind from that object in the front. Maybe someone was moving their bedding in or something and left it there for a bit. That cylinder shape almost makes me think it was a sleeping bag upright or a blow up bed in a bag.
The picture in the background is so low res and dark that you can't tell what it is at all. The human mind likes to look for familiar patterns in everything, even when there is nothing there. What you're calling a ghost is probably a slightly reflective section of wall, or something equally mundane.
there is definitely somethimg casting a shadow at the bottom of the stairs, but the only reason you can see it at that timestamp is because the other shots don't maintain the angle or the background is too blurred. The only way to validate it was something paranormal, is if it was suddenly not there in other shots, but the edited footage cuts off just as they begin to walk down the corridor towards it. The cut footage of the corridor would likely show what, if anything, was actually there.
I am thinking the same the head of the woman looks like it could be part of the door frame the body might be light reflecting while the head is a shadow cast in the background
That’s what I was thinking. Almost like it’s a wall which juts out and waste high bench to the right creating a hollowed section. The torch light is shining to the side of the wall and the bench creates and angled shadow. But i am not sure that’s enough to explain the rounded sections which give illusion to a head and seated body.
now imagine if you did a series where you actually hire some actors and take some guests to creepy places in Japan, take them one by one without knowing and we will enjoy those fun reactions. I really enjoyed Owlman prank videos, might use that for reference.
But if it becomes a big series, the guests would know to expect actors on their collabs with him lol. Also I feel like Chris is above that kind of prank content.
The "orb" is definitely a speck of dust. Despite looking like Chris's soul is escaping his body, it's actually just some fluff that's too close to the lens to be in focus. Your good old bokeh effect if you want to get fancy. The prison ghost is probably just a weird reflection from the camera lights, but damn, that's freaky. Really does look like a dark haired woman hunched over.
Ok I see it now at 7:17. Woman in white dress sitting sideways on the floor with her head down, so her dark hair is draped over her face. Spooky spooky lol
In the church that is definitely dust. As for the prison it looks just a little too much like a woman collapsed on the floor, hands in her lap and her head drooped down for me to say anything but a spooky specter.
In a disused prison certainly. Firstly because it’s just weird since nobody have been using the place and secondly because old spuds can be lethal, they let off a poisonous gas that can kill in seconds if in a confined space.
Thank you for all the consistently amazing and entertaining content. Some believe 'ghosts' are remnants of strong feelings, energy, and/or (possibly repeated) actions imprinted on the fabric of our timespace, or breakthroughs of consciousness from other realities. I find those ideas more intriguing than believing a deceased human's "soul" has been trapped here. It's more convenient to be skeptical about things that can't be explained by Western science, because if/when you do encounter things such as ghosts or UFOs, they tend to make you question your sanity....
This is also part of the idea that we are beings of energy. Electricity. Matter. Etc. And parts of the earth around us... are particularly good conductors. These are just snapshots of time that are "stuck". There's no one conscious there. It's just replaying... Sort of like you're in a brief time warp. They cannot see you. You can certainly see them. I find that theory most interesting because... it actually tries to use science and tries to put a little more correlation with these thoughts. Because not every sight of a murder has ghosts but a lot of places by water, electricity, etc do seem to have ghosts. So... Is that the connection? Is a foundation of limestone part of this? And I think that's a little more interesting. "Intelligent" hauntings aren't as intelligent as we think they are, if they even are... If hauntings exist.
@@jamie1602 It's a curious phenomenon. I'm not so sure that at least some can't see and interact with us. I spent three summers in my grandparents' late-1800s house near the Outer Banks of North Carolina that had a graveyard out front that contained the graves of three families who had lived there. Several babies and children had died of tuberculosis. Myself and several relatives had numerous experiences there. Along with the pervasive feeling of being watched (mostly upstairs), I also felt like someone pinched my butt one night while laying in bed (my sister later told me she once felt someone run their finger down her side in that same bedroom), and walking to the bathroom another night I looked down the hallway and saw a figure of a blond girl in a white dress. Of course, I was terrified and kept walking. We figured it was the 12 year old girl buried out front named Sadie, who had also died of TB. My mother saw her too another time. My grandpa said he felt something grab his feet while he slept sometimes. Appliances and the stereo would also turn off and on (only in the middle of the night). It was pretty unnerving for an 11/12/13 year old girl and I still occasionally have nightmares about being there.
Chris by any chance do you have more footage of that room where the lady was sitting stored somewhere? I would love to see like another viewpoint of the room or possibly see a better view of her
The ghost lady looked like a plastic chair/something with a white cover and it’s shadow on the wall behind (the supposed hair). Did you go in that direction later? Cause if you did and there was literally no objects/furniture or whatever there than it’s creepy.
Absolutely right Chris, something is definitely there in the one shot and casts a shadow. Looks like something covered by a sheet. Next shot was at a slightly different angle so the object wouldn't have been visible (reference the window edge behind). In the church, again absolutely right, you made a forceful shift and a piece of dust flew towards the camera. Spooky...The truth is RIGHT OUT THERE
At 5:04, there's the two-shot of Chris and Joey, and just above Chris in the second row of windowpanes, there's a figure that looks like a head and left shoulder. It does look a little weird, or it could be the silhouette of something else. Love your show. ❤
The second clip is 100% dust. All “orbs” in photos or videos are just dust floating by the camera lens. The first clip, I really don’t know! It kind of looks transparent in some frames.
The incident in the Jail/Gaol does remind me of the time I was in Lincoln Jail/Gaol and the door of the cell I was wandering about in, slammed shut with full force. Though if you want something genuinely scary, 30 East Drive in Pontefract is the place to go.
The broken heart syndrome also known as Takotsubo Cardiomiopathy is a weakening of the left ventricle usually as the result of severe emotional or physical stress, such as a sudden illness, the loss of a loved one, a serious accident, or a natural disaste
5:38 What you say here is true! Your thumbnails are way too clean and it makes me not want to click them. But because of the community posts afterwards I still end up watching most of them. Might be a personal thing though.
That shape of the "white lady" isn't there in the second shot because the camera is more to the right looking through the doorway at a different angle.
The "ghost orb" it's most likely a spec of dust or a small particle flying around. And I think too much phasmophobia made people jump at the "orb" (don't get me wrong I love the game). Probably we will never know for sure if it was a ghost or not.
Two things to bring up, the prison is making a name for being haunted and your video shows some of the scary props they put around, so the lady ghost could be a setup. But, I think it's even more simple, the thing in the distance is an object and the illusion of the black hair is the shadow cast from your torch.
@@gustargento2645 We don't get to see that area though, they cut right as they are walking into the room/corridor and are blocking the view of whatever it is. If Chris has extra footage of them walking through there, he might be able to look at that part of the room and see what it was.
What makes it creepy is the fact that you can clearly see some type of figure, but then, some minutes or seconds after, it disappears. I would’ve been more incredulous if the figured kept showing in background because it increases the possibility of it being just an object. But the fact that all of the sudden disappears is unsettling.
I was in a bus like a week a go and I saw a very weird looking face on one of the windows and was like "there shouldn't be a person there" then I looked at it for a while and realized that it was the reflection of one of the parts in that bus but it looked so much like a face that everytime I looked back at it I couldn't unsee it even tho I knew what was being reflected so yeah brains make things up and find patterns. that's probably why ghost sightings are even a thing. Especially when you are in "haunted" places your brain becomes biased towards seeing haunted things and it makes sense too right, from an evolutionary stand point I mean. You are scared of something and think that the place you are in could have that thing so your brain is extra alert for that thing and falsely identifies some stuff as that thing just to be safe. I completely made up that last part but it makes sense right
Excellent points, and stands to reason for 99% of shit. The 1% that can’t be accounted for are times when the door knob turns and the door opens. You’d think that would alter your reality, but to your brain, it’s just a “yeah, that happened.”
That happened to me on a road trip with friends! Dark night, going 80 mph down the freeway, we snap a picture of my friend, and when we look at it, there is a face as clear as day in the window. We all just about lost our minds until someone finally realized it was a reflection of her shirt. Our minds look for patterns, especially those that look like faces and people. There's even a word for it: pareidolia.
No joke i watched the video again, and by playing the full clip, you can see there is nothing there, then there is, and then there is a moment where you can see it standing up, and then it is gone again. Bloody Diabolical.
Lots of ghost stories in Japan to find there Chris! Many pubs in the UK are converted Abbeys and have many ghost stories too. My favourite is where one was being renovated and the owner was in a room at the end of the stairs where they exit. So he hears someone walking down the stairs thinking it's a renovator, boots clumping on the steps, but at the end nobody appeared Then he rememberd the stairs are covered 😯
I saw both instances in the original video. The church one I chucked it up to dust as well, but the prison one I thought it was your flash light reflecting off a chair or something. I didn't realize that it wasn't in the room once you entered. That one is legitimately creepy.
You want to know what even more scary than the ghosts sightings & conner's morning face? Getting an ad for Diablo illmoral on your video. I'm gonna need the whole Church to exerise that demon.
I wanna see a wacky weekend of you and Connor or maybe the whole trash taste crew going to a haunted mansion to stay for the weekend 🤣 make it look like cluedo or something from a horror game/film
Like I said Chris, where you positioned the lights and camera could have made it look like there was somebody in there. the flashlight had may have the metal beam in the staircase reflected the light. It would be interesting if your UK viewers were to recreate the shot of where you and Joey were in.
To be honest after rewatching that point I can surely say that it seemed to be something there since a few frames in it just vanishes. Glad you saw that after leaving imagine noticing while you were there.
It looks like it's just light reflecting of some surface, leading to an optical illusion. It disappears when you move the light away and reappears in the exact same position when the light is brought back.
i don't think its an optical illusion because it has a shadow behind it you could see it in 7:15 . could be a chair covered in white sheet or boxes or table, but who knows.
Joey and I joked about it in the video! We said viewers would spot something in the background - AND YOU DID.

The mystery is often more fun than the answer.
yes, definitely, Connor just waking up is the scariest thing in the world. :D
I dont see it?
O shit I see it
@@kohlfrog One time I went to a corn maze with friends around Halloween, and we solved it really fast and ran out of things to do, so we decided to turn it into a haunted corn maze: we hid in the corn and made rustling noises when people walked by. It was a dark night and the maze was really poorly lit so we really freaked some people out. If I were in a haunted prison, I could see myself trying to creepily slip into the backgrounds of people's shots.
7:45 I had my face up to my monitor to look at your zoom in of the video so this transition to Connor scared the shit out of me lmao
Yes but people want to believe so hard.
7:41 what circle of the light?
Orbs, aka dust particles, are the least impressive "ghost" imaginable, so thank you for pointing out that it's more likely dust than anything spooky.
we just heard the news so happy for you both you are two great people and deserve the best. also one comment on sharla channel said its the best news since ross and rachel it so bloody true. i could see it coming.
"I can change the air pressure" Was worth spending my 10 minutes watching this 🤣
Please keep the spooky content coming! It's so good!
In a lot of ghost sightings the ghost looks as solid as any person, cast shadows, the whole shibang. It’s only when they suddenly disappear or do something impossible people realize they aren’t of this world. Good catch 👍
should have given us a heads up with the Connor closeup, almost got a heart attack
Maybe it was Ryotaro you never know
I think Chris found the new meta. Recap your own video from the previous week. I'm into it.
I look forward to future videos where Chris _has_ hired actors and spooky locations to scare the absolute shit out of the Trash Taste crew
Damn. Why were you jugged?
I’m sad we never got to see both Joey and Conner interacting during a wacky weekend
I guess they’ll always be separated on the Abroad in Japan channel
I guess they dont know each other
I love how your prediction that viewers would find something and send you a time stamp came true. The first one was really eerie. 😬
the white lady was so kind to stay there the whole recording.
most just leaves into your imagination in a second
Lol this is concerning
Even after you explained it. I still didn't see it. I feel like i got potatoes for eyes
The black "head" is a shadow projected on the steps behind from that object in the front. Maybe someone was moving their bedding in or something and left it there for a bit. That cylinder shape almost makes me think it was a sleeping bag upright or a blow up bed in a bag.
You either believe in ghosts, or you're sane.
This can be a new content for your journey across japan ; chasing "heartbroken" ghosts
The way you construct your videos, and that British wit and sarcasm, just makes your videos so perfect.
@@AtomicPiston didnt Chris mention there was nothing there when they walk through it?
That’s what I was thinking. Almost like it’s a wall which juts out and waste high bench to the right creating a hollowed section. The torch light is shining to the side of the wall and the bench creates and angled shadow. But i am not sure that’s enough to explain the rounded sections which give illusion to a head and seated body.
I wish he was able to pull more of the original unedited footage for us to look at, but alas
at 6:58 the sound of you adjusting the microphone scared the shit out of me
now imagine if you did a series where you actually hire some actors and take some guests to creepy places in Japan, take them one by one without knowing and we will enjoy those fun reactions. I really enjoyed Owlman prank videos, might use that for reference.
ohhh....
Owlman: *exist*
me: get the fluff away ! get the fluff away !! god noooooo *cries*
But if it becomes a big series, the guests would know to expect actors on their collabs with him lol. Also I feel like Chris is above that kind of prank content.
I think I would enjoy Chris just traveling with a friend to actual haunted locations and investigating/giving us the story of the location.
You missed a trick by not superimposing Ryotaro into that room in the church.
Now, a random sack of potatoes randomly in a prison would be something really scary
In a disused prison certainly. Firstly because it’s just weird since nobody have been using the place and secondly because old spuds can be lethal, they let off a poisonous gas that can kill in seconds if in a confined space.
@@ezura4760 Yeah, but just a random sack of potatoes showing up and dissapearing, that's more scary than a figure randomly popping up 🤣
Thank you for all the consistently amazing and entertaining content.
Seemed like dust, but in the prison one is genuinely frightening.
Chris by any chance do you have more footage of that room where the lady was sitting stored somewhere? I would love to see like another viewpoint of the room or possibly see a better view of her
Chris roasting Conner for his wake up face has to be the funniest bit, it is true terror
"Looks like Joey with a Tenga."
CHRIS.
At 8:30 Chris is channeling the video "Fart on my roommate’s door hahaha"
The ghost lady looked like a plastic chair/something with a white cover and it’s shadow on the wall behind (the supposed hair). Did you go in that direction later? Cause if you did and there was literally no objects/furniture or whatever there than it’s creepy.
He says they went through the corridor and nothing was there at 7:33
Absolutely right Chris, something is definitely there in the one shot and casts a shadow. Looks like something covered by a sheet. Next shot was at a slightly different angle so the object wouldn't have been visible (reference the window edge behind). In the church, again absolutely right, you made a forceful shift and a piece of dust flew towards the camera. Spooky...The truth is RIGHT OUT THERE
Conner waking up is how I would imagine a newborn baby would look like moments after being born, quite the scary site😂
Your new hair cut looks so good!!!
The incident in the Jail/Gaol does remind me of the time I was in Lincoln Jail/Gaol and the door of the cell I was wandering about in, slammed shut with full force. Though if you want something genuinely scary, 30 East Drive in Pontefract is the place to go.
I love having tabs open on the same video and seeing the titles evolve.
ok at 7:10 it actually looks like a lady kneeling down with her long hair covering her face, wearing some kind of skirt
Probably we will never know for sure if it was a ghost or not.
ive just gotta i love you kept roasting connor chris lmaoo
Real quick I love the production value even though this is just a clip from a livestream
I kinda regret watching this video at 1am
Two things to bring up, the prison is making a name for being haunted and your video shows some of the scary props they put around, so the lady ghost could be a setup.
But, I think it's even more simple, the thing in the distance is an object and the illusion of the black hair is the shadow cast from your torch.
but the thing is that there is nothing there roght after
@@gustargento2645 We don't get to see that area though, they cut right as they are walking into the room/corridor and are blocking the view of whatever it is. If Chris has extra footage of them walking through there, he might be able to look at that part of the room and see what it was.
Why did i watch that video alone in my room at night with just a fan running in the background
What makes it creepy is the fact that you can clearly see some type of figure, but then, some minutes or seconds after, it disappears. I would’ve been more incredulous if the figured kept showing in background because it increases the possibility of it being just an object. But the fact that all of the sudden disappears is unsettling.
Ik I swear u can just see it vanish it’s so creepy
It doesn't disappear, Chris just moves the camera and whatever it was is now behind the door frame.
When does it disappear? I am literally still unsure what he's talking about. Could've used a red circle around it 😅
Congrats to you and Sharla 😊🥰
The ghosts are whispering their secret from a thousand years of ghost stories past:
P A R E I D O L I A
I legit thought that was you guys fucking with us with post editing while I was watching because it was so well timed.

People see people out of anything they can't identify clearly. Its human nature.
But it was not in the shot in the scenes after. How do you explain that?
@@jumpvelocity3953 Lighting.
Yup, that's just why everyone sees things. Oh wait, they don't.
Lots of ghost stories in Japan to find there Chris! Many pubs in the UK are converted Abbeys and have many ghost stories too. My favourite is where one was being renovated and the owner was in a room at the end of the stairs where they exit. So he hears someone walking down the stairs thinking it's a renovator, boots clumping on the steps, but at the end nobody appeared
Then he rememberd the stairs are covered
😯
7:46 that's the one thing that actually jumpscared me lol
I saw both instances in the original video. The church one I chucked it up to dust as well, but the prison one I thought it was your flash light reflecting off a chair or something. I didn't realize that it wasn't in the room once you entered. That one is legitimately creepy.
You want to know what even more scary than the ghosts sightings & conner's morning face? Getting an ad for Diablo illmoral on your video. I'm gonna need the whole Church to exerise that demon.
i love the crow bar at 4:36, nice touch
if you look very closly at the bottom left at 5:58 you can also see a mind reader
I bet you're right, that's probably dust in the church
I wanna see a wacky weekend of you and Connor or maybe the whole trash taste crew going to a haunted mansion to stay for the weekend 🤣 make it look like cluedo or something from a horror game/film
this is definitely truly bizarre and downright chilling
Pretty sure it was just your reflection, Chris! Those UK clouds do not a tan make.
Haha
Love this style of video!
Like I said Chris, where you positioned the lights and camera could have made it look like there was somebody in there. the flashlight had may have the metal beam in the staircase reflected the light. It would be interesting if your UK viewers were to recreate the shot of where you and Joey were in.
I'd be so into seeing you explore Japans more haunted spaces, it would be interesting to see the 'eerier' side
To be honest after rewatching that point I can surely say that it seemed to be something there since a few frames in it just vanishes. Glad you saw that after leaving imagine noticing while you were there.
Videos don't have frames. That's film. Film has frames.
"it looks like a figure of some sort"
it looks like a chair
It looks like it's just light reflecting of some surface, leading to an optical illusion. It disappears when you move the light away and reappears in the exact same position when the light is brought back.
i don't think its an optical illusion because it has a shadow behind it you could see it in 7:15 . could be a chair covered in white sheet or boxes or table, but who knows.
@@ilhamadigunawan5264 wait ghosts have shadow?
@@Chronostra if we're actually able to "capture" a ghost on camera, i don't think a ghost casting a shadow isn't that farfetched
