I think frequently about the fact that for almost every product created, there's at least one person who had to think about the design. I bet the people that made this toy would be happy to know that their work doesn't go unappreciated, even if it's just a kids toy.
And not only that: designers have to also consider whether or not the piece they need can even be fabricated and, if so, how. I studied Industrial Design for 6 years an many times it felt like a nightmare. I go back to those times whenever I'm transforming one of the modern Transformers/Beast Wars and see how INSANELY complex those things are. Those designers must have gone through hell on Earth figuring out how to make those things. Probably caused a few break-ups, lol.
It’s that kind of idea that led me to notice the more human/emotive elements in design, function is always the primary goal, but to add a little heart on top of that says a lot.
While this is VERY boring for adults, there is a phase in human development, where you just realize clear patterns of cause and effect ACTIVELY. This can more rapidly be done, by having a predictable fast mechanism to be triggered repeatedly, without annoying too many people. Or the child just keeps using the light switch of the room.
yes, you have to mass produce these things at a viable price point, so you put a lot of engineering into getting reliable performance out of a minimum of machinery
Thank u this must have taken tons of hours to render! Imagine if they taught engineering classes or anything with that matter with this amount of visual representation and payed someone to make high quality blender renders like these for learning everything. Learning would be so much easier for visual learners it would be amazing
Wow, excellent work as always Jared! Love the pacing of your audio and animation. Just super easy to follow and makes it pleasant to watch. I'm also very amazed at your modeling skills with these little pieces. Also, the fact that you've released 4 videos in the time that I'm still working on the same one says a lot. I'm having some serious imposter syndrome. Just super slow at what I do :( Anyway, keep up the fantastic work man. You're very very talented!
Thank you! 16 yrs ago, Emma put a Disney fairy inside of it. Pulled it out with tweezers. Today, Cameron put a checker piece in it. I attempted to take it apart, but oh....I ruined it. Thank you for this! Instructions were wonderful. We can use it again! ❤
This video saved me a LOT of trouble. I opened our toy to get out all the little "surprises" stuck inside, and for the life of me coukdnt figure out how to put back the little white plastic parts. My 2 year old wanted the toy back, the 3 year old wanted to "help" and i was nursing the baby to keep her quiet. Thank you Jared for assisting my DIY toy re-assembly today.
Now I only waits for Jared to release a video. Super cool animations Jared. Good job. Some topics that I want to know- 1. How L.E.D. works 2. How DC and AC generator works 3. How a normal car works Thanks Jared . Hope you will reply
I watched anyway because I love how you explain things and fully enjoy watching your animations, but I already figured out how these toys work thanks to my older nephew. When he was a toddler, he had a toy very similar to this one but two of the doors wouldn't pop up all of a sudden and no one could figure out why, so (after my sister bought a new one for him), I took it apart and found a bunch of raisins under the two levers of the doors that wouldn't open. When she asked him about it, he told her that he didn't want the animals to get hungry, so he would put the raisins on the platforms while the doors were open, then would push the doors closed, which of course dropped the raising to the bottom of the toy's interior where they accumulated under the two levers. Thanks for helping me remember that, thinking about it while I typed it out made me smile.
the great thing about your videos is that they are suitable for all ages, I'm 36 and was watching this with my 6 years old child and we were very excited. Thank you very much.
So this is what I'm doing as a 40 year old alone on a Saturday night... watching a video about how a toy works. Regardless of my observation, still a fascinating video. Thanks for all of these, really enjoying them!
When i started learning a new language I began by reading children's stories and watching cartoons in that language, this is a great video as a way to start learning the basics of engineering and it's sad that most folks don't see that you have to crawl before you can walk. It may not have gotten many views but I assure you a lot of us still enjoyed watching it.
I love how this is the same channel that does things like breakdowns of how spacecraft work. That's genuine, not sarcastic, btw. It speaks a lot to the engineering mindset to give the same curiosity and care to things that are self-evidently complex and things that are easy to write off and see as simple. I think a lot of people, myself included, get an ego about such things that make it difficult to see ingeniously simple solutions.
Love the dedication and effort put into these models and animations! I'd love to see a followup to your videos from 5 years ago on how you get your animations so streamlined, since it's clear you've put a lot of effort into refining the process over the years! I'd also be interested in an episode on how airplane/hospital ventilation systems work, just to throw an idea into the void.
The animations are so well done, like always. They tell us the construction and working in a coherent and comprehensible way. And I really liked the BGM this time.
