I think you're right about having sambar when you have a sore throat or down with a cold. When I was living there during COVID period, I can remember my landlord offering me sambar saying it'll help if I ever get infected. It's just a healthy super-food I presume. Also, the sarong is called "Veshti". My Tamil friends in the comments can correct me if I'm wrong. 😅

Loved this episode, grew up in Chennai and moved out to usa 23 years ago and this video brought me my childhood memories, the bargaining with auto, lassi shops, ever awesome Triplicane Ratna café. This restaurant is my father's favorite breakfast place when he was a collage student 60 years ago but I have been there only once. Will definitely visit there when we visit Chennai again. I am glad to see the honesty of those auto drivers, very impressive, after ola and uber's domination I thought these guys went out of favor but I am glad to see them having their integrity.
Chennai is not actually for Lassi. Chennai is for buttermilk, Infact most part of south india is. Lassi if you want to enjoy go to haridwar. It's heaven.

Not like other foreign vloggers , you are adding even subtitles, so that we can understand easily , which otherwise would have been difficult to understand your pronunciation. Incidentally the places you covered are all my favorite places especially Ratha Cafe. I used to stay near the place in 1980 when I was doing my chartered Accountancy course. Once or twice in a week I was eating idly sambar. Later I got a chance to visit the same in 2020, when I came back to India after working abroad. You know what I had idly sambar and not even a bit of change in the taste. I even asked the person served me "have you given me the same sambar which I had in 1980's"

Also nowadays you get veshti with velcro bands which makes them easier to wear.

I'm a 60 yr old lady who was born & brought up in Mylapore chennai. This particular video where u covered most important prominent places around the temple (where I lived till my teens) brought back nostalgic memories especially the way u covered nook & corners extremely superb.
Particular to mention the kalathi rosemilk shop behind which was my school was our favourite hotspot /hanging spot for our big gang everyday. Thnku for such a coverage from a foreigner.
U almost cover all popular spots wherever u go but there are some more interior interesting places too keep it in yr agenda.
