Can this be done with KOTOR????? This is insane results!!!!!!
Ouuff yess this and force unleashed c::
Yoooo
yeah any game
probably if kotor uses direct x 8 or 9
You just read my mind…
One of the most impressive technologies in gaming history.
AI will completely redefine our hobby.
Before it extinguishes mankind 🤣
There are already multiple existing AI texture upscale algorithms out there. And they work without vendor locking the whole mod to Nvidia hardware.
@artorias It looks like a system to generate PBR textures. What more can it do?
@@novh4ck Hardware with a big ol' $2K beef gate in front of it, at that.
@@novh4ck This improves textures, lighting, and materials in the game. Not quite what you're thinking.
This not suppose to exist before 2100 . . . isn't ai-tech advancing too fast? These results are better than most of remaster, and even remakes, game made by AAA studios, with dozens or more than a hundred of workers and that demand years to be made !
the future is now old man
Let's see it actually work that well first. Bet it's riddled with problems
the only thing about ai is the texture upressing/creation dlss and raytracing everything else is done by hand
There's a lot of human intervention here. It's not like this is being accomplished with a couple clicks. Granted, an insane of amount of work is being done via the algorithms, but a significant amount of work is remaining to get it to something that is cohesive and looks "right". It certainly is an incredible jump in the ability to remaster old games though. I'm just curious exactly how long it took to do the few short scenes they did for Morrowind and what exactly is required after feeding it into Omniverse.
Not supposed to happen before 2100? AI tech advancing too fast? You sound smart
So they literally just ai remaking games now. Damn technology you scary... But cool 😎
No
It's not remaking anything, it's simply enhancing what's already there.
Very
Skynet is on its way
No, not at all. You are being assisted by AI in order to be able to make yourself what would otherwise take a full team of people. But it's still a tremendous amount of work (we are talking months and months of work for a single person on a game like Morrowind, based on what we are shown here in this video, difference is it would take years without these tools). You don't just press a button and any game now has a completely different rendering pipeline... it doesn't work like that, sorry.
no most of this is done by a human hand it only does thw raytracing dlss and textures
Guaranteed this is a best case scenario and will work on limited games that are made a certain way.
Don't get me wrong.. cool tech... but temper expectations...
it's meant for modders. the right instance is modded with nvidia's tools. Not sure who's at fault here, ign or nvidia, whorver approved video title
What you are seeing in the video will probably not be the first generation of the technology in performance but by the time it is mature it will look even better than the video.
Well its a great start let it mature
@@abeidiot Yeah, the claim isn't that you just turn on any random old game with your 4080 card, and it has improved textures like this. It's a modding tool. Modders will use it, and PC players will be able to download and enjoy it.
This is so incredible! Its like an instant remaster
No, it's not. They literally replaced tons of models, AI didn't just change the book covers completely.
@@jschildress1 It's definitely misleading
Closer to instant remake actually
@@AverageDaveVideos No, its not - they show the AI remaster the textures. And then mention the models switching as an extra step - its not misleading if people choose not to hear what he literally said
It isn't, but using this tool you speed up the modding process a lot, AI didnt change all you see in this video, they did, but AI helped to speed up everything.
This is probably the coolest thing they announced..
If it works as intended, this could be massive. Looks amazing.
1:13 so the ai technology can decide that a empty table would look better with a candle and box at the switch of a button? I'm skeptical but this is pretty impressive if true.
The only thing ai is doing is replicating the environment, upscaling textures, and intelligently applying physically based rendering to those textures, the placement of light sources, remodeling, and additional set dressing is all done by humans
@@bigscheesy4982 why did they demonstrate that in this video then?
@@Dogtles money.
yeah! that box wasn't improved because it wasnt there in the original! i'm confused by this.
@@Dogtles cause they're greedy
If it's as seamless as demonstrated in this video, this is insane!
It won't be, it's a modding tool. This video does a terrible job of explaining what it actually is and its limitations. Likely on purpose.
Let me show you a room with soft walls and floor.
@@chrismorrison5301 no
@@swinny_ "no"
yeah a shader tool will completely recreate and replace the models of every object in the game with different ones by itself keep believing in that
@@chrismorrison5301 Video made it sound like literally if someone puts that rtx mod together, it will export it and then be playable with the algorithm upscaling graphics almost as if installing reshade or enb. Or does it have to "bake" everything ahead of time, basically making it's own model and texture sets to upscale it?
just a matter of time before ai remastering will be done automatically and will be a standard feature of consoles/gpu's.
Just a matter of time befor ai creates its own videogames, algorithms, robots, weapons, skynet and will be a standard feature of earth.
@@indiankid8601 Based.
Even if we do not get that point for another decade these types of tools can allow game publishers and modders to carrying much higher productive mods and remasters.
You miss some points... half of the work is by humans tough. LOL The AI doing the others half. Its a marketing advertising.
He mentions "an AI model to convert materials to have physically accurate properties", and that possibly means that the AI can identify similar objects, or rather the similarity between objects (this is done even today by simple photos) and then it can rescale said NEW asset to proportionally (as in scale multiplier) match the object that is to be replaced. We also have the tech to identify the different art-styles and parts of an object (even your android camera does that) and their placement in the digital world (it can even be done by issolating both assets in a sandbox, spinning them around and comparing photos), so even the placement can be automatic, but this remains to be seen.
But we are not far from seeing this process be completely automatic. It's, just, that the AI would need a HUGE number of chairs to analyze in order to be able to match chairs with very different art styles and models, but with what is to be very much similar models the technology IS already there.
Let me remind you guys, that nvidia is a 300billion $ company, leader in the AI field and they are the ones producing the actual hardware that is used as a platform to be ran on. If there is a single company that can do this and even analyze the dialog and lore and tweak said assets based on said lore, it's them. If you study AI and neural networks you know it is possible even today.
Eventually, AI will understand the world and ambience the developers were aiming for better than even they did, and remaster the game to the point it's better than anything a human development team could come up with.
@@sechrima9998 maybe when we're dead, but I'd love to be surprised.
To be specific, from 1:00 to the end is RTX with 5 or more mods for Morrowind, you can notice the improved models and textures.
RTX alone just improve lighting and reflections.
You should go back and listen to the whole thing again, you missed most/all of the key points.
@@asmosisyup2557 He is actually right, this is just sneaky advertising from nvidia. Most of the stuff you see there was done by modders, not some magic AI upscaling tech.
@@asmosisyup2557 You're so wrong and so confident despite being blatantly wrong it's hilarious.
Yea and a couple of the shots from Skyrim, included the use of an ENB. They are being tricky with the promotion of this.
He literally says in the video that the Nvidia remix tool upscales the textures on its own. There’s another video on NVIDIA’a RUclips channel that explains how it actually works.
The real question is: can the AI automatically identify and match similar assets, essentially replacing older ones with the new ones. That would be an insane production pipeline! We would be able to churn out remastered games, provided we have the assets...
That's actually just phenomenal
Imagine this layered over a nice texture pack and character overhaul. It's going to look like a brand new game.
This looks like a handmade remaster not just an ai upscale
Take presentations like these lightly, they always overpromise but keep your door open.
Need more details, will this work with that open source version of Morrowind (OpenMW)?
NOT A CHANCE
If OpenMW runs on DirectX 8/9, yes
Likely, probably even better due to normal map support in OpenMW
Still waiting 1 year later

Suspicious how at 0:41 the pot is still low poly and angular after the up-res, but at 1:07 it's a different pot entirely - different texture as well as being rounded. Part of me suspects at 1:07 it was manually swapped with a different asset.
might as well point out 1:14 that the box appeared out of thin air.
0:50 explains this already. You can manually swap out assets with custom higher quality models. There is nothing wrong with this.
Maybe the AI suggest the closest looking higher rez model, if not then blatant false advertising.
so you still need to make the mod using existing mod tools, this just helps generate upscaled assets and includes a new renderer, right?
Hello
yes. ign's title makes it sound like automatic lol
and lighting
Why does RTX seem to completely change the materials/textures of some of the objects? At 1:00 the floor is this grainy white material but then turns into a tiled, grey, and smooth material after RTX. You can also see this in the back by looking at the shelves. At first, they seem to be made out of wood, but then turn into some kind of white material after RTX.
Because it looks better. Stay mad.
@@theobell2002 NORMIE DETECTED
Ai Texture replacement.
Because you can choose whatever type of material you want that object to be and it will have the properties of said material. You can even edit what the object will look like and retain it's properties or upload your own. This remix output is just one of many you can want. It's modding made easy, it's not automatic.
How does this not have millions of views already?! This is REVOLUTIONARY.
Its not revolutionary in any way. take your meds.
@@chuckchalmers4960 Do you even do any 3D Art? Like, at all?
@@sleepjieI do, and it's definitely not revolutionary. It's upscaling textures and u have to replace the models 😅 also it's replacing the baked lights by dynamic lights wow. Nothing special and still way more handwork than this video might trick u to think it is
That’s insane!!!! Awesome work
Lmao, that dude stuck in the ground 0:34
Yeah but where'd the new objects in the scene come from? Or the modified models? The table has new objects on it and the book's mesh has changed.
Finally a comment worth seeing it.
Shoutout to all my homies who started TES with Morrowind!
I'm crying right now this game has been my life forever and seeing it like this really just gets to me
Don't get too excited lol this is just a demo and not actually being produced. It can be made by modders but don't expect Nvidia to touch this game.
what a time to be alive.
Um, so... does the mod tool just randomly place new assets in the mod pack as it feels like it? how does that work?
So is this tech only available in the 40 series cards or will it be capable on 30 series as well?
Me without an RTX card: 😢
This looks so much better than the portal remix. Actually fits the art style
But will this tech work on any cards below the 4000 series?
Lighting is indeed changed but so are the assets. Is this done by AI as well?
thats some crazy stuff
So it's just a texture generator and a lighting overhaul in one, and you still need to download the mods generated with this tool?
Does RTX tech work on CRPGs of old? Like the top down ones? Cause that would be a game changer for so many games in my library
It would probably make them work more smoothly but it really depends on the level of details of the game.
This is crazy and could bring new life to a lot of older titles. The only other thing is controls would need to be updated too. Some games just have very old controls and mechanics that feel terrible vs today's standards.
Nah controls fine as is. Lets not skyrim it up.
Not Morrowind though!
@@Cyborg647 nah morrowind had awful control ngl.. And some awful gameplay mechanics... That's why one of the most popular mods are ones that overhaul controls and gameplay...
Controlls will NEVER be AI enhanced automatically. You would actually have to tweak the game-code in itself, which is sketchy.
Is this just a reshare that can already be done currently on any hardware?
Almost certain this is some HD pack and/or overhaul and they just did the raytrace lighting. As pointed out new objects just appear and textures are straight up replaced. 1:14 That book was reddish and became worn and brown with a design on it. And don’t even get me started on a blue bowl turning gold.
The AI directly swaps textures and models to what it thinks is best, it doesn't simply upres the models
Time for another Morrowind playthrough 😅
1:14 where did the box come from????
Wow, cannot wait.
Betheda about to buy this out to remaster all their games to sell for full price next year
Если что это не авто ремастер по нажатию кнопочки, это для разрабов услуга аренды ихнего а.и. и супер пк
Is that exclusive for RTX 40 only? Or any RTX can use that feature?
RTX Remix is just a tool to create a Ray tracing mod for old games. Not sure if the tool is exclusive, but You can most likely play any Remixed games using the installed Mod, but performance will vary greatly depending on which generation of RTX card you use. I'd say don't even bother if you have a 20** series card.
A worthy creation for a worthy game.
Nvidia: IT JUST WORKS
It’s limited to dx9/8 fixed function pipeline so it’s not available for many games.
Imagine garrysmod
@@TopDrive1 literally what nvidia stated lmao. this will not work for games like Skyrim LE and SE
@@GRY2048 fixed function pipeline. It means it won’t even work for oblivion.
Hello !!??!!?? Where is it
They basically remastered Morrowind with graphics card settings. WTF, this is crazy. I’d like to see this happen to the original Deus Ex as well.
Wat
You were the chosen "wat"
I'd like it if Battlefield 2142 or BF2 is able to get Remixed, it'd make the modding scene explode again like it's the mid 2000s
you need a 4000 to make the mod but you also need a series 4000 card in order to play that moded game or you can still play the moded version with your older card?
30** series minimum I'd say.
DudeI am so hyped for the positive stuff done with AI, please keep it responsible though we don't want to end up with Skynet
AI is just an industry buzz word, it's just like when the internet became the "cloud". When someone says AI, think instead they mean "advanced algorithms". It's just more advanced programming.
@@thetinylebowski4147 Its not advanced programming, the programming part is actually easier, its just that there are more components involved in making something like this (optimization, deep learning architectures, knowledge of Linear Algebra and Calculus and then finally programming)
it is a cruel world where this is done, but isnt actually in active development. Nothing would please me more than to go back and play morrowind looking like that :(
You will see it happen in a few years time but not only will we see it with Morrowind.
My old games will look new again
Holy - WE GETTING THAT KOTOR REMAKE AFTER ALL BABYYY
OK, now this is really cool!!! Will this only work with the new RTX 40XX Series?
Yeah

The last comparisons are using completely new textures and meshes, so it's basically a remake. It seems more a tool for modders than a magic button AI
True but thats marketing for you
This was marketed as a modding tool, not a magic button lol.
Let me just explain what Nvidia failed to explain in this misleading marketing campaign: this isn't as simple as processing the game through an "rtx filter" and it comes out remastered, It involves external mods which replace static meshes/weapons/characters and so on and makes use of pbr materials (textures with physical attributes) implemented through those mods. This isn't "magic" like Nvidia is marketing it.
This is insane
Finally, a chance to fight Dagoth Ur in HD, with Dagoth Wave in the background.
Great, I'm now never getting through my Steam backlog of new games because I'll just be revisiting all my old favourite worlds with better lighting.
can you make original low poly models then use this to make it high detail?

RTX remix does not automatically upscale meshes, nor does it upscale textures to the quality shown here. The scenes shown here were hand made by Nvidia's art team. I'm surprised that they're being so vague, it's truly an amazing tool and it doesn't need any more hype for what it is.
RTX dosnt but cant AI do that?
