  • One of my students recently asked me whether they should learn the Blues Scale over the whole range of the harmonica all at once or if they should do an octave at a time. It turns out that the answer is not as simple as that.
In this harmonica lesson, I'll be answering this question and also showing you how to play above hole 6 without any Overblows or Overdraws...

Thanks, Tomlin, I appreciate your argument for incorporating the lower notes (including the -2") into my blues playing. Interesting observation about experienced blues players switching to the major pentatonic above the 6. I'll have to give that a try.

Hi, I wasn't sure how the blues and major pent linked up, or were they for separate keys?

    • @TomlinHarmonica
      @TomlinHarmonica  4 года назад

Hi James, great question. You can play both of these scales over a Major key Blues. Over a Minor key you can only use the Blues Scale or Minor Pentatonic :-)

You can bend the 3 hole 3 separate semitones down. In this video he only did 1 semitone. I'm thinking you are bending 2 or even 3

      Bonne continuation ;)
