I have spent the last few weeks trackikng down the 126 fault high heat active and this video is excellent. The really tricky thing is that you have to look at several pages on the search results to find this video.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. After 3 years of Code 33 this was the fix! We had the exact issue and using your steps, have the fix! I have an older model Infinity thermostat and followed along with your instructions no problem! Thanks again!
AMAZING!! We have struggled for 8 years with our furnace kicking out with the Error 33 code. It started happening immediately after the furnace was installed. I have had a least five different techs out-all said it was fine, no issues. I changed the setting on the thermostat and it has not happened once. THANK YOU.
Yes, that’s what happened to my new furnace on the first heating season. 5 different techs and no body could figure that out? That’s a shock! Lol! Merry Christmas!
Just wanted to thank you. I had the same Humidifier installed and it caused the same issue. In the manual it says if you use a Humidifier bypass you have to set it to this setting. I didn't have the Carrier thermostat (I have NEST) so I was able to use the manual to locate and set SW1 dips switch to switch 3 ON and switch 4 OFF. Saved me a bundle. Thanks
Np, bro! I am glad that the video has helped you👍 Yes, I tried those switches at first but it didn’t work for my system because the Carrier smart thermostat took control of all the settings.
Thanks for this video - For me I had to enable that same setting using the dip switches on the control board but it was exactly the problem I was having!
You’re welcome! Apparently based the responses on here, it’s common problem with Carrier Furnace. The sad thing is that my installer didn’t foresee that at time of installation and setup.
error code 33 turns on when the discharge temperature gets too hot and trips the high limit sensor. Low airflow causes the delta T of the air flow (discharge air temperature subtract inlet air temperature) to go higher and results in too high of a leaving air temperature . This is 95% of the time due to low airflow caused by too many air vents closed in the house or a dirty filter (you should really change it religiously in heating mode once every 30 days esp if you have a lot of people in the house). More occupants = faster dust accumulation from dead skin falling off. Turning on the setting that you show locks the fan motor in it's highest airflow which lowers the leaving air temperature. More airflow = lower delta T.
Thank you for your comment! Yes, error code 33 triggered due the limited switch tripped and because of the system was not setup according to the manufacturer’s (Carrier) recommended in the owner’s/installation manual. Yes, initially I tried those remedies as you mentioned such as fully opened all the air vents and installed brand new filter. However that did not get rid of error code 33. Replacement furnace filter once a month, in my opinion, is not economically feasible. Especially with these new high efficiency furnace, the filter size 5”x16”x25” has longer life. Besides Carrier Infinity has air flow sensor that would let me know when to change the filter if it senses weak air flow. The setting in this video is based on the Carrier Infinity installation/user’s and it did get rid error code 33. Also, Carrier Infinity furnace is a variable stage furnace which means it runs at variable speed even with this setting, not locked up at highest airflow like you mentioned. Cheers!
Sorry buddy, I am not sure what system you have there. There’s no such trouble code listed for the Carrier Infinity system. You can check your user’s manual or your furnace door panel for your specific trouble code (if that is a valid trouble code).
Can this fix be done on the housewise thermostat and not the connex evolution? I have same the same issue but cannot find low gas heat setting on the housewise. Will I need to upgrade the thermostat?
No, this setting only available on the Carrier Infinity thermostat. For your case, you need to use the DIP switch setting at the control board of the furnace. You can check your furnace user’s manual for more details about this setting.
@@PTranProductions thanks for this video and the comment. I have a similar issue, modified the SW1 switch 3 on and switch 4 off. It ran fine for 20mins no issue and happened again. It seems my humidifier isn't working. I turn the humistat on and I don't hear the selenoid click. Is there any relationship with this low heat setting and humidifier needing to be on? I can feel the air passing through the bypass which is what I thought this setting help with to avoid the error 33. Any other suggestions please?

@@PTranProductions yeah I’m running into this problem with new install. I believe it’s because it has a 5 inch filter which has a higher merv so I don’t think it’s getting enough air flow

What if you dont have that thermostat and the thermostat i have doesnt have options for those settings.
Use your furnace manual to locate and set the DIP switch SW1 with S3 - ON and S4 - OFF.
solved my problem. thanks!

Try to set SW1-3 on (default is off, turn on for bypass humidifier as per the manual) & SW1-4 on (default setting)
Thank you
You’re welcome!
Anyone know what’s the equivalent setting for this on ecobee?
Try the DIP SW settings just like DoughUnderwood mentioned in the comments.
Does that basically just increase air flow ?
Not sure what it is doing but it fixes the problem.
