  • In this video, I upgrade a Tamiya Lunchbox with the Ampro Engineering front wishbone suspension upgrade kit. I give you my feedback and I take the van for a blast to see how it handles.
I am not connected to Ampro Engineering at all and I paid full price for my kit. I just wanted to show you the process and let you know how I feel about this modification.

Gavin.... I thought I had already seen this Video - commented on it 7 months ago as well...
BEST thing I could have done with my Lunchy! 👍👍
It's still a bouncy "toy".... but this makes it far more manageable.
ONE LITTLE THING.... I'm sure I'm a lonely voice on this subject, BUT you demonstrated an intermediate modification. I've obviously done mine already....
But for the many who are still learning, the hyper fast forward didn't do anyone any service.
And I'm speaking for the people who rarely leave Comments, so you and other Channels don't really get to see.
The process should have been shown with much more detail, and at least the modifications, the drilling and Suspension adjustments should have been shown in real time.
Same with the recent Falcon AmPro mods. I've never done that one, and it was just too fast to see what you did.
I understand that Millennials get bored easily.... BUT, some of them really want the careful instruction. I'm asked often to do Videos on these types of mods. I'd love to, *but I don't have the equipment* to do Videos like that. 😞
Believe me, *I'm not trying to insult you!* I actually believe that you'd get even more Subs, if you were clearer on the more advanced bits. 😊
I KNOW that nobody wants to see the mundane bits in real time, but the things I have mentioned, yes.
Frankly, I'm a "little Fish". Barely 220 Subs in 14 years on RUclips. I'm staying small - even if I desperately need the monetisation.... I don't have the time, money or energy to do what you do! I'm an Old, disabled Fart...
But I do enjoy helping others when I get the chance. 😉

I understand and if I had time I would make two videos, one like normal and one in real-time. Unfortunately like you say most don’t even watch a ten min fast paced video on RUclips. One thing you can do is watch the video and change the playback speed. This won’t fix the missing footage but should allow you to see the content in a little more detail.

Gavin, I did up the same kit on mine. Quite an improvement!!
I do know Alberto at AmPro Engineering. Great Guy, Genius Mind! He's doing so much for the Tamiya line.
Right up to Double Wishbone Suspension, front AND Rear, for the Hornet and Grasshopper!!! 😳😎
If you haven't checked it out, you really should! It's called the "Omega" Kit, and quite a bit of Kit it is! Not for the beginner.

Niiiiice upgrade, I'm saving for an ampro package when I build my lunchbox, black edition. I really fancy all the lunchbox upgrades he does, including the light kit.

AMPRO is great (and a great guy too)- I have the full array of his stuff on my King Cab. Gonna do all of it to my monster beetle next

muddfoot69 Yep he makes some good stuff and the quality is fine. Only issue is the price but that’s not his fault.

Very nice video! I was thinking about getting this for my lunchbox. I wasn't aware that none of the linkage came with the arms though. Good to know. By the way, great channel and nice editing. Subscribed :)

G’day mate, I’ve done the same upgrade, on my car it’s great, I’ve also done the suspension upgrade and the wheelie bar upgrade, the best thing I did was put ribbed front tyres on and spiky rear tyres on sand scorcher wheels, fantastic. I love the paint job on your Lunchbox, great job!

👍Nice, Now if only the rear suspension actually worked! dang tamiya made them screwy and lock open the shocks upon throttle input causing the rear suspension to not be able to compress!

I know this comment is 2 years old, but the Ampro transmission brace does exactly what you describe. Keeps the transmission from slapping up under acceleration, while still allowing the suspension to work properly and articulate. It was one of the first things I bought for my Lunchbox and it made a big difference. No more “slap” under acceleration, no more motor hitting the rear shock. Wheelies are much more controllable too. Works better than the 3rd shock mod and you don’t have to cut up your transmission to install it. Highly recommended mod!

@@Maverick_Van_Traveller Hi it still pulls the shocks open when you give it throttle it's just the flaw in the design. Also my fishing string mod works best of all out of anything the 3rd shock and the ampro brace because with the ampro brace it will hold down the gearbox pivot but don't let it go up in the holder slot when pushed up like stock so when you do a jump it can't no longer compress all the way up taking away lots of your suspension.. the fishing string mod woks the same as the ampro brace but also lets the whole gearbox get compressed up like in stock form hence why it's the best suspension mod for the hopper type chassis, I tried everything the simple fishing line mod works best.

    Great vid.
I'm about to be a 1st time builder of one and think I want to wishbone it too.
You mention you had bits lying around from other kits/builds but obviously I don't - Any idea how I could get hold of those adjustable arms?
Any other advice would also be much appreciated!
Great work on the vids, by the way! 👍

Hi Gavin, i dont like the idea of making a Lunchbox handle 'good', I thought that the original handling is a big part of the Lunchbox charm, taking that away is kind of missing the point. Liked and Subscribed anyway.

I have a set on my sons Pumpkin. These Works fine but my daughter's van has the upgraded suspension arms from ampro engineering so these won't fit anymore.
