you know that when you rotate the indicator like you do that gravity influences the weight of the indicator internal components. depending on the weight of those pieces and the spring tensions that drive the spindle, the whole indicator and the internal parts will sag and give you a false reading. to determine the amount of correction that you need to factor into your measurement, you need to mount the indicator on a solid fixture and have a fixed stop for the contact. take a reading with the indicator contact pointing vertically, set your zero. then rotate the whole fixture 180 degrees and take another reading. that's the error due to the weight of the components and the springs. the lack of friction in the gear train is important too. the closer that you can get to a horizontal spindle position the better your measurement will be. also, the central indicator is a decent mechanic's tool, but there's certainly a few that can offer better performance in non-horizontal mountings. talk to you tool supplier about gage quality indicators.
Checking the bellhousing to crankshaft centerline then installing aftermarket offset dowel pins that are not the spec you measured ... with a beautiful lathe in the background ... is what my father would call half-assed. If it is worth doing, it's worth doing right.
@@19chev81 Why do they have a lathe if it is not to make parts? Just for show? They could make perfect .0011 offset dowel pins on the lathe. Why install .0014 pins. Or why have a lathe? Maybe lazy or just don't know how to use it.
What accessory drive are you using on this project? Looks like the A/C might work on my C4 LS-1 swap. My Current aftermarket setup has tensioner hitting right upper control arm frame mounts. So no A/C at the moment.
weird combo for this car. why use short runner stacks for something that isnt going past 6500? a long runner FAST intake would have made more power but i guess it wouldnt look as pretty. but also the car makes more power than it needs so it probably doesnt need more power lol
should have said "swept volume" is 410, which is bore x Pi x stroke x number of cyls. That is the block. Pistons with dishes subtract the dish volume. Then the volume of the cylinder head is added. So a 410 swept volume block with 3cc dishes and 66cc chambers. 410ci -1.46ci+32ci= 440ci total volume. People generally just use swept volume as the engine size. so it's a 410. Easy! To add complication, cam timing can change the actual volume used based on valve timing. Shut the intake early and don't fill as much. Engines are fun!
LS engines are not beautiful especially with the big ass coil packs built across the valve pan covers I like my plug wires tucked away hidden nice and clean Johnny to build The unwanted engines like the 4 cylinders handmade power
You can have all the power from the engine you want, but that car only been 2400 pounds no downforce no wings no spoilers you’ll never be able to put all their power on the ground…🤔 what does anybody else think?
I definitely did not understand why putting the distilled water in there when most mechanics know the boiling point are plain water is pretty low and the high of the water get it starts expand when it’s mixed 50-50 with coolant antifreeze it only worry about your engine not freezing up, besides the anti-rust properties, it lowers the boiling point of your water liquid, mix with antifreeze and when it gets high about 180-200 it won’t expand and blow a seal somewhere so just about freezing up antifreeze does a lot more than that mixed in water water…🤔🤔🤔🤔
Stick your fingers in your antifreeze mixture and rub them together. Now do the same with distilled water. The atf mixture is slick as snot, not something you want under your or other racer's tires. In a vehicle running distilled water with a 15psi cap it's good to 250 degrees fahrenheit before boiling(2.5 degrees per pound+-). Atmospheric water at sea level will boil at 212 degrees fahrenheit. Water wetter added to distilled water will keep the corrosion under control and is approved under NHRA and IHRA but it will freeze. A 50/50 glycol mixture will gain 6 degrees in a pressurized system over distilled water before boiling
Everybody builds the LS V8 y'all need to build a LS 4 cylinder they just came out with make a 4 barrel intake input a black diamond throttle body indirect injected with a turbo and a header and then see how much power you can make not trying to be rude but seen enough of the LS
The new 4-cylinder LS has 340 horse 500 ft lb of torque I'm sure with a modified four barrel intake in a header with a small turbo it will be bad to the bone
I definitely did not understand why putting the distilled water in there when most mechanics know the boiling point are plain water is pretty low and the high of the water get it starts expand when it’s mixed 50-50 with coolant antifreeze it only worry about your engine not freezing up it raises the boiling point of your water liquid compound mix with antifreeze and when it gets high about one 8200 it won’t expand and blow a seal somewhere so just about freezing up antifreeze does a lot more than that mixed in water water…🤔🤔🤔🤔
Track/racecars arent allowed to run any anti freeze because it is too hard to clean up if it gets on the track from a blown hose or an accident. Makes the race track slippery in that spot. Water only in racecars is a rule on tracks pretty much everywhere. Dragstrips included.
As late as that car is how much power it has and it’s a track car. I wonder why you don’t have a front lip spoiler to keep the air pressure down on the front and a rare wing spoiler to keep air down, pressing on the back that car being that light is going to be all over you not going to be able to drive it to his potential cause it’s gonna slide everywhere cause it has no down force to help traction…😳

Zip tie those seatbelt straps dangling in the back. Put a nice forced ram intake on those throttle body’s
