Yeah, I got the cozy edition for $35 and I think it’s a decent price for what you get (so far). I do like meeting the different characters and the gameplay is fun.
Yeah, they had to add stickers and a poster otherwise it would have been like… what’s the point? Not sure why other games just have download codes and no cart or anything in the box.
@@elithegaymerthey didn't just add the extra physical items to make switch owners happier. It's not like it was exclusive to that platform. Companies just don't wanna pay for the proper storage cartridges cause those are expensive as f*ck compared to disks.
You know...I really like this video, because now I know what I'll get into. And you mentioned at the end it is worth getting the game, but now I know what I am getting into. Thank you for the video! Greatly appreciate it
Thanks for taking the time to comment! As a small RUclipsr, I really appreciate it! Yeah, overall I like the game but it definitely has an issue here or there.
The download code in the box thing is such a weird decision. And the no recording videos in the game. Just why?? AND since it likely isn't ever going to be FTP, the monetization in the game is especially bad. All around it seems like a train wreck to me.
I read that the no video recording is a “Switch” problem. The game launched with more bugs and video recording, but to reduce bugs, they removed the video recording feature. I was shocked though when I started playing and I couldn’t record… I had never seen anyone mention this before.
@@elithegaymer That's so bizarre! I still don't really understand how being able to record the past 30 seconds even works but I guess that makes sense that it could contribute to bugs.
@@Sang15Mitang I don’t really fully “get it” either honestly, haha. Apparently (for most games) the Switch will constantly be recording the previous 30 seconds of your gameplay, so that if you push that button, you can permanently save it, otherwise the Switch deletes it. Honestly when I first start using it I was confused as well.
@@elithegaymer The Switch also doesn't let you capture footage in Dead by Daylight (completely different genre but something I noticed when trying to capture a funny moment)
My advice is to just buy the cheapest version of the game that you can get. I was worried about the in game purchases, but honestly they are just cosmetic and there are so many cosmetics in the game anyway, you don’t need them… Also, you can easily obtain at least 100 moonstones (in-game currency) everyday.
Glad you have a more "up to date" review. Short version: I'd be buying multipule copies, and that means I'd have to buy the switch version. If the lagging/freezing has gotten better, I'll jump on it. Or wait for another sale. Glad to hear the microtransactions are cosmetic. Odd gamesloft, a predominantly mobile game company, is on the switch now. It's probably why it's working better on PC.
Mine usually freezes in building mode! I feel like certain screens are very unstable. The map has glitched, the collection screen, and when talking to villagers.
Soooo , right now I was in tears because I actually left my switch down for a while because I had to go to work. I come back and my switch screen is completely orange .. YES ORANGE !! It wont shut off , it won’t restart , NOTHING !!! I did so much on my valley , I bought the expansion , getting my quest done exc….. AND MY SWITCH SCREEN IS ORANGE !! it won’t do anything what so ever….. I cried because I was so mad and thats just my reaction when I’m angry and not to mention the fact that I paid like $50 bucks for a damn game ( yes I know its Disney but now a days $50 is $50) and Idk could this be a glitch ??
I originally played it for a few weeks straight (for quite a bit of time every day) but as soon as I stepped away, I haven't gone back. I am not sure why that is the case. I unlocked all of the areas and progressed to the end of most character's questlines but I never really got into the decoration aspect of the game. It was a lot of fun while I played but it didn't have a long lasting staying power for me, sadly.
Agh, I can't believe they haven't solved the issues on Switch yet :( I'm considering buying either this one or Stardew Valley and I've read way more positive reviews about the latter. Thanks for the video :)
omg thank U! also any-1 who needz 2 see this - NEVER TIME SKIP ON THE SWITCH! i made the awful mistake of time skipping on my switch cuz I was playing ACNH + had 2 wait a whole month until I could play Disney Dreamlight again + wait 4 the time 2 catch up - surprise! there went my Fall LOL
So how do you get the 14,500 moonstones and other gifts? I got the amazon "physical" edition and set up the cloud sync but all we got in the mail box was 8,000 moonstones nothing else. Another video i saw the person already owned the game on a different platform (pc) and it was instantly there except for the moonstone that were locked to the switch. Does the game require an Nintendo online account?
Whichever platform you buy the game for, the moonstones will forever locked to that platform. You’ll have to spend them on that platform. You need a Nintendo online subscription for the online features.
I actually regret buying that game. I bought it when it first came out unlocked some of the areas got bored and felt like i wasted my money. It's really janky on the switch but I think everyone knows that at this point.
Yeah, on the Switch the camera is zoomed in so far and you can’t even zoom out and it crashes sometimes. I wonder how much better it is on other platforms. Also in the corner it says press B to sprint but it doesn’t even work, haha.
Another addition is that when I bought the game on switch, I bought the ultimate edition. It was only a month ago that I realised I never got any of the stuff that they give you when you buy the ultimate edition. And apparently, it’s very common when buying it on the switch, and resetting your entire progress doesn’t help either. I would reset the game but I’ve gotten so far into the game that I’m not even bothered anymore. I hope this doesn’t happen for the new DLC.
@@exotic_butters2897 wow that really, really sucks. I got the ultimate edition too. I didn't even know that could be a glitch. I would have been super p$ssed. I would have totally complained until they somehow gave it to me. I would have been so disappointed in Disney and the game.
@@Tashenubast Yeah. But on the bright side I’ve gotten access to seven seasons of the premium star path. But I’m still very pissed. I would’ve been better off with just the normal version.
Im at the start of the game and it has some low frames in handheld on oled. Does the performance get better throughout on handheld? Because im thinking the main problem are the purple vines. I did play it in docked and it ran way smoother. But i prefer handheld over docked
I’ve been tempted to get this game for awhile, but was waiting for free to play. That’s disappointing. I may just have to cave and get it on sale. Is the monetization aspect of it really bad? I was concerned it might feel like a mobile game at points where you have to pay to really get anywhere in it.
It’s really just cosmetic things, so it’s not actually that bad. I’d say it’s worth checking out. I’d recommend getting the cheapest version. You really don’t need some random sweater and a random piece of furniture.
I was weary of this as well, as I started playing the game just as they began the micro transactions. I will say, those things are cosmetic, and you might get tempted to get them, but with the new (and optional) dreamsnap challenge, you get a chance to earn some moonstones, as well as completing the star path. Both are optional, and the moonstones you spend participating in the star path, you make it back after completing the quests. All in all, it’s a fun game with room for improvement.
I still can’t believe that they backtracked on making this free. That’s so lame of them :/ On principle alone, it makes me not want to buy it. However, I DO want to play it. It is on sale in the Nintendo e shop today, so thinking it’s a good time to buy it. But I have heard people said it had a lot of issues on the switch. So I’m still torn lol. And I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews regarding the micro transactions. Some say it’s annoying and overlk!ll and some say it’s not bad and they get by just fine without putting any additional money into the game.
I think the game offers A LOT of gameplay for the asking price… but it is a lot of the same gameplay wise (not sure if that would bother you). I personally do not mind the micro transactions. They are purely cosmetic things that you really don’t need. The Switch version is fine… unless you really enjoy decorating. Placing an item or two is fine but it’s awkward especially when placing or rearranging things.
Insane were at the point where people consider buying a full price game and not buying DLC as free to play.
I'm about 20-25 hours in on my switch oled and I love it so far! Not too laggy or glitchy for me! Got it on sale so definitely worth the price for me
