100%, i calculated it for myself, i did an average of 10 laps a day in the bike park, there are two lifts, one with a 250 descent and one with a 1k descent. 3-4 on the one k and 6-7 on the 250, rode a total of 2 weeks non stop. that is about 70k of descending in two weeks. that is the same as if i where to go twice every weekend to the biggest descent we have here (700m) for a whole year (2/3s of the climb is a realy steep road, and the rest is climbing up a DH track, and its in the desert, so once a day is tiring enough). when it comes to pure practice there is no beating the bike park, plus in the bike park there have some of the best coaches you will find anywhere, ex pros and whatever not, and where i live we have 0, just like most places.
Totally. For me, it seems like I never improve my raw motor skills (body position, weight distribution, arm movement etc) when following someone. What I do improve immensely is line choice and trail vision. It’s really difficult to tell what someone you’re following is doing different mechanically, but pretty easy to tell which lines they’re taking, the speed they’re approaching things, and how they approach trail features.
One of the things that helps me improve is volunteering at my local mtb club trail maintenance days. It's the only time I walk the trails and I spot all these lines I never see when im riding down. It's just a small club and we don't have any paid trail crews to maintain the steep tech trails near us. All maintained by a handful of volunteers.
that is all racing is. The best racer (depending on how you judge it) isn't the fastest, but the one who generates the most buzz. Why do you think they had content creation as part of PB Academy ;)
While watching this and seeing both of you close together I was reminded on the hockey stick Mike boom and the masks from not to long ago. Thank God those days are almost over. Great video and I'm sure both of you would outride me.
I think one of the main differences is Stokeage , Christina is always so stoked when riding and Joe was just trying too hard. I ride with a couple of elite level privateers and they are always so stoked when riding , they're just excited about riding bikes no matter whether racing or just playing.
Would be nice to do that with a rider who has more than 8 sec. difference lol. Maybe a beginner who is riding since 1-2 years so knows all the basics but doesnt get the times he wants. Because Christina is already pretty solid
For a newer rider or someone coming back into the sport after a break, focus on fundamentals. Really work on your spin, especially utilizing your glutes and hamstrings. Your legs will wear out fast with a quad dominated spin. Next is cornering properly to keep momentum and finally squeeze in a few extra power spins where ever you can to maintain momentum.
Just found your channel. I’m a big MTB fun but never progressed beyond beginner/intermediate riding in Miami- yes, Miami don’t laugh too hard😀. I’m just looking for some tips from the experts. Where do you guys shoot your Enduro training videos?
Isn’t there a no shuttling sign right at the entrance........that should be in your next video of mtb etiquette....you know because you guys follow all the rules😂
Most people don't want to slow down and focus on techniques over just going fast. Learn to manual/wheelie, buy a trials bike ect and it will bring you speed.
She seems shy like many. If anything she seemed amped to progress. Everyone knows riding with faster people is key to getting faster yourself. So many lines you may be missing out on.
Fun stuff to watch Jo progress. Christina is fun to watch and listen to. My favorite PB'er.. She is also so dang cute. Wish my son was older to introduce to her. ;-)
Yes. Disconnect the brakes. Works every time.
Harder to do multiple runs though.
@@peadermulvihill3777 not if you disconnect the negative attitude- anything is possible!
Absolutely. Every time I go to somewhere with lift access I know I improve immensely

You can get faster in one ride... All it takes is following the right person and you pick up new skills.

Just find a trail you have never ridden before, ride it, then ride it again. Almost guaranteed improvement in a single day!
Starting to think pinkbike academy has nothing to do with the racing, it's more of an employment opportunity haha!

i mean, the whole competition was literally for an employment opportunity with orbea
Jo is already a professional MTB riding coach, even before PB academy.
These girls probably faster than 95% of the dudes commenting.
why bring their sex in to it?
Lol how about some stories/interviews about those race day miracles? I'm super intrigued about those anyway.
When are we going to see mike levy again?
He got fired for failing a drug test
@@tweaker_on_a_bike9809 how do you know that
@@tweaker_on_a_bike9809 lmao shut up, like the mtb demographic cares about an adult doing drugs, in Canada of all places.
@@tweaker_on_a_bike9809 i used to do drugs, i still do but i used to too.
Chillllll man I'm kidding

Would love to have one on one coaching by CC on the trails...how awesome.
I love to see lady shredders! It’s so inspirational!
Great video , but for the stall in section 2 jo would have defo closed the gap
That’s a great trail to have on your doorstep for practice laps
Mtb Homework is the only homework I enjoy
With the OneUp tool at 45 degrees, id be too distracted to ride fast
i just send it. probably not the best idea, but i just go full send with nothing on my mind.

i love christina ride experience skill…keep it up

They’re talking about getting faster on the downhill, good tips though for climbing
Perfect, I Just registered to m'y first race next week, I nerd to train à bit more
I think Christina is my favorite presenter, especially for this type of content.
Her "yooou" scream are so forced and annoying!

Yep
Or you can Ride purely for the enjoyment factor. You need to do a edit (How to get funner n one second) and Xtina can delete strava.
Last time I went to "hoeing" my skills I ended up at the Dr's office with a burning sensation...
Woah.
Practice can help you improve.

Nice to see Jo again :D
Did anyone else see sasquatch at 9:24 !? 😱
Great vid but switch to flats! Ain't nobody got time for clippies in 2021!!
what kinda hub Jo got on bc I like it lol
jo is the coolest
Just start the week slow.
😂😂😂
Wait who is jo?
Joe mama
Those 20mm or 35mm rise OneUp bars there Christina??
My brother is playing on a intendo and these girls make toad noises its really confusing

Man Jo really looks like she doesn't want to be in this video. I have a sneaking suspicion that she sees Christina as a peer and not as a coach.
Jo actually came to us with this idea so she was definitely pumped to be there!
@@pinkbike Fair enough, that's my bad for reading too much into expressions in the video

The rider is lacking rotation in the turns. That’s what she needs to work on. 🤘🏼
that's my thought, she looks locked and not freely moving round the bike. Cone drills

Of course you get faster on a track if you practice them for a week. Everyone could have told you
Ride it like a goon? 😂
I want 2 other ladies to ride with ☹️
Free your mind... thats it! Chrono should not be what you bike for.
Yeah, no, that doesn’t work. I can’t hear anything. Lol.
YEWWWW🤙🤟🤘(first comment les gooo)
Jo should be a presenter
I’ll save you 18 minutes of video watching… pedal faster, you’ll go faster, simple.
You will never pin this!
Omg. I want to watch the video but I can’t stand this girl/chick/person. Maybe I’ll try it with the volume off.
What? Who?
