I don’t completely understand whether nouns should be singular or plural in particular sentences. I know basic rules and I think I understand the difference between “They’re riding a bike” and “They’re riding bikes.”However, I still don’t understand why you say “their own way” instead of “their own ways” in “They have their own way of doing things here. You just gotta find a way to work with them.” (, which I found in the subtitles of a movie). Is it because of the word “own”? Then, would you say “They’re riding their own bike” when they are each riding a different bike 🚴 🚴 🚴? Or would it be still “their own bikes”? Or is it because of the word “way”, (something like whether the noun refers to a tangible or intangible thing?) Are there any other nouns that should be used in singular form like “their own［way］”? ・a hassle 面倒
・a hustle がむしゃらに頑張る、人を騙すなど
