Just got the Avata 2 yesterday! New to FPV but been flying different DJI for the last few years, Original Mavic, P4P, Air 2... Super stoked to have gotten my hands on this new piece of equiptment!!!
just some things i dont think you said. how does it compare in terms of stability in wind, is it weaker or the same. and does it have the propeller spin out problem when in manual when if actions are done too fast the drone gets wind wash and spins out ?
Great review and I love your footage! Mine is on the way. I’ve been flying FPV for some time and I like the idea of just being able to pull it out of my bag and a launching without a lot of hassle. I still like to build my own, but there are times when the DJI FPV series are all I need.

You can save some and go for the goggles 2 or integra. But I would choose the Goggles 3 because: - It’s more future proof for upcoming dji releases - live view on the dji fly app via wifi is so nice! - the goggles 2/integra take some more weeks until they are compatible with the avata 2
I now have both the OG Avata and the Avata 2. I did a little flight test in a pretty windy area. Seems everyday around where I am it's either windy or raining or even snowing. Anyways, I flew the Avata 1st and it was clunky having ton of trouble in the wind and trying to come down from 100 ft it was clunky and slow coming down. I did my next test with the new Avata 2. It took off really smoothly and it was fur sure having trouble in the wind, but not nearly as bad as the OG Avata. with the wind I got as high as 38 mph. With the OG Avata I couldn't get over 32. Plus, getting a new battery update again! I only did these tests with the Motion Controllers to make this a fair test since I only had the Controller 2 for the OG Avata so a speed test wouldn't be fair. Very impressed with the new Avata 2 and sometime this coming week I should get my new Controller 3 and really see what this new drone can do. I have a feeling after some adjustments hear and there it should be some sweet improvements.

I see on my Goggles 3 it has spots open so far just for Mini 4 and the Air 3 as an alternative. Nothing else is shown yet. Probably going to be updated in a month to allow more. We can only hope!
I had the original Avata but I returned it within the 14 day period! I hated wearing goggles and not knowing what was going on around me. The noise was an attention magnet, I am an introvert lol! I have ordered and am awaiting the Avata 2 since it seems to not only address my frustrations with the original but the added feature of Easy Acro peaks my interest!
@@frankc.9853 Your problems were the goggles (the FPV part) and the noise. I don't see where DJI fixed the issue with the goggles, as the Avata 2 is still an FPV drone. The noise is certainly better tho. But I think that you would still be better off with a "regular" DJI drone, as the whole FPV doesn't serve you. And by the way, the easy acro mode is complete non-sense. "Oh look mom, I can do a flip with my drone!" But you literally just pressed a button on a dildo...

Sowas wie Easy Acro ist mir ziemlich egal, der neue Sensor ist natürlich ein Hingucker. Was mich nur an der neuen Avata 2 stört ist die grundsätzliche Geschwindigkeit aufgrund der EU Regularien. Was sagst du denn dazu? Zerstört es nicht ein bisschen das ganze?
Da die Avata 2 preislich wirklich fair ist und mir eine bessere Videoquali wichtig ist, würde ich direkt die Avata 2 nehmen. Und falls du mal außerhalb der EU fliegst, kannst du auch besten Gewissens den “FCC hack” anwenden (einfach googlen). Dann erreichst du die vollen 100km/h und eine bessere Range.
I’m switching to Avata 2 only because of the noise level. So far I’ve trusted RUclipsrs saying that it’s quieter but once it gets here I’ll test to see for myself. Otherwise it’s going straight back.
I think when you have comparison you need to talk about money as well. You always said avata 2 is better than avata 1. But everybody knows that, is it deserve the cost difference? Thank you for your informative video.
Excellent review, Mathias. Can you set the Avata 2 to record H.265, when @ 4K/60, 16:9, UW, Rocksteady?? Because there seems to be only an H.264 recording, which is very slow to render. If you can set it at H.265, how do you do it?
I used the ND8 filter on the avata 2 and manual camera settings (also dlog-m). In post production, I used my LUT pack for color grading. You can find the link the the description.
Im new to fpv and looking out to buy my first goggles. I mainly want to fly self built drones with the dji o3/o4 unit. Do you think the goggles 3 will support the o3 air unit? And will dji release an o4 air unit this year? I really dont want to buy "outdated" equipment like the goggles 2 when there is already a successor. It just feels not right.
I guess the Goggles 3 won't get compatible to the O3 Airunit (bc goggles 3 has O4 transmission). I can't tell if there will be any O4 unit out soon, but I could image that they work on it!
Its a nice drone, but dji ciuld add almost every feature to the avata 1. Easy acro is 100% software and uses the thumb stick on the motion controller. Rock steady is just software. The camera is the biggest hardware upgrade
No this is completely different from regular drones it has zero tracking or quick shots/mastershots it is an fpv drone I would recommend the mini 4 pro for vlogs it requires less equipment (goggles controlled batteries) and fpv drones are for specialized kind of shots but the mini 4 does everything a full size mavic does but it is under the weight limit required for you to need a part 107 permit
90% of people buying and flying the avata or avata 2 will never use dlog. They'll never use manual camera settings. They migtt use ND filters. I dont understand why reviews focus more on professional color grading than they do on what the camera without edits can do. Then people buy the drone and wonder why it doesn't look as good as it did on RUclips lol.

To be fair i was one of those guys that bought the Mini 3 Pro as a toy/hobbies. but eventually started using it on more important videos then into pro work. then from that moved into the Mavic 3. i never knew i could get paid from this kind of stuff and it all started from that amateur level. i did use the none log mode but gradually went into grading etc etc. I could see the Avata/2 being one of those entry level gateaway into their more capable products etc
Dude please, don't say that just because a sensor is a bit bigger it catches more light. Photographers say that kind of thing about medium format cameras and that just proves that them and you understand nothing of sensor technology and how pixels work. A sensor is not a window, a bigger sensor does not mean "it can catch more light", I can have a sensor the size of a grain of salt and "catch more light" than a sensor the size of a door.
@@MatthiasDangl again, a sensor is not a window. More pixels make the image noisier. That's why cameras with larger sensors and lesser pixels produce much less noise due to do signal-noise ratio. The Avata and the Avata 2 have the same amount of pixels but the sensor size of the Avata 2 is bigger thus having a better SNR
@@RossBarnett02 the avata 2 has a bigger sensor but the same amount of pixels, which means each pixel is able to collect more DATA, not more light. The light captured by the sensor is affected by the aperture of the lens and the shutter speed.

What can be known about the c1 rating? Will it be used in a residential area? Because it does not have the necessary LED lighting.

It can handle the wind pretty good! But since its a smaller whoop, you still can do better moves and better flights with wind speeds

The avata is still more expensive than the avata 2 so if you are a hobbyist buy the avata 2 because less money

Awesome! The Avata 2 is definitely less noisy than the Avata. And give yourself some time to get used to wearing goggles, it'll be fun!

D-Log is a great feature to have. A lot of people probably start off without using it, but it’s there for you to grow into
