Ambush vipers have some of the most beautifully patterened and coloured scales. Natures beautiful tell tale sign of danger and at the same a way to disappear from the gazing eyes of potential enemies and potential dinner alike. As a little boy I always wanted to see this snake moving on the forest floor and not just look at it's stills in a book or magazine, as a man I can say that little boy never left after seeing this snake. You and staff have created a herpetologist's feast for the eyes with these videos. Good job!

Live in Tucson. Biology background. See many Rattlers. Found a baby coiled. They are more grey. Strattled it and took a picture from above. Later upon viewing the picture it reminded me of the patterns native Americans creative on their baskets and pottery
Beautiful but extremely dangerous and it's so amazing how they are like invisible on the ground I'm not surprised if alot of people have stepped on them by accident
These snakes live usually in the forest where not many people go. In fact they are becoming so rare that stepping on one is almost impossible! We walk for days - kilometers in the forest to find one snake.

Maybe the most beautiful of all vipers! I fell in love with that species back in my childhood days when I first saw a picture in a reptile book...Thanks for the video!
Pretty yet not as vibrant and rewarding when in a pseudo habitat setting no matter how natural you think you have made them feel.... There is a certain instinct animals including ourselves have that kicks in when in a naturally exposed free ranged and wild world. Their habitat is what instinctively had them become the amazing animals they are as with any living organism niching to survive. Humans can morphologically alter characteristics but nothing compares to evolution.
@Jack Niehopper fossils and genetics don't lie or show bias... If you have the time and patience to caretake captive wildlife then you madam/sir are exercising scientific work that leads to the knowledge of these great organisms that have existed well beyond our more immediate ancestry.
Bravo, great work and a gorgeous snake! As a snake lover I really love the films on your channel, and have actually learned about some new species. And the absence of a narrator's voice and use of natural jungle sounds makes the experience so much better...just transports me to the forest, as if I'm watching these characters in real. Though I hate snakes and figure that the only good snake is a dead snake, I still can admire their beauty. All three are beautiful and the Gabino was out right gorgeous.

This is Bitis rhinoc. not a gabino. There is a Gaboon viper, very similar species minus some of the yellow and purple, and just a bit of different design on the back, doesent have the "butterfly" shape but the rectangles. There are hybrids done in the captivity between Gaboon and Rhino viper, and they are called "Gabino" as you called it. But this aint a natural species, its a hybridn done in captivity, same as ligers, mules, etc
@@igorsvacic217 @KayDee was really speaking about gabino because it is shown at the end of this video. And gabinos also occur naturally, we never saw one in captivity, but one in rainforest of Africa! :) B. gabonica and B. nasicornis are evolutionary close enough to produce hybrids and they live in sympatry in many places.
@@LivingZoology Yep, I answered before I saw the end of the video and the part where gabino is shown. I know they occur naturally also, I cant believe you managed to stumble upon one considering how rare those hybrids are. And on top of that I can see it "took" much more from rhino side of family :) which is even more beautyfull since it has so much of that vibrant yellow. All sspecimens I saw wer4e NOT EVEN CLOSE in beauty to this specimen. There are quite a few on RUclips videos, but it seems that somehow Gaboon genes are more dominant and it shows more in those hybrids. Altrough it would be interesting to know which parent was which species, and if that plays a role, if Gaboon was father or mother and vice versa

Thank you! We usually walk for a few days in the forest to find one of these snakes. If you move slowly and are gentle with them, you can go quite close to these magnificient creatures 🙂🐍

If you say to any artist on this planet take whatever colour you want and paint me the most beautyfull snake you can imagine, Im 100% sure no one would surpass the beauty of the Bitis rhi. Its just so much over anything in art humans can do.
Until now i hadn't heard of such a snake! Its colours are amazing & the patterns are quite similar to those of the gaboon viper. The two species are obviously quite closely realated & the gabino is stunning, it looks like an artist, a brave one, got hold of it & painted it those amazing colours!

My Godness what a beautiful species, the colors, the camouflage, just amazing. It Breaks my heart when i think about how long it took to evolve into such a beautiful species(probably millions of years), and how fast humans are destroying it :( Thanks for the hard work you put into making such wonderfull footage.

Until now i hadn't heard of such a snake! Its colours are amazing & the patterns are quite similar to those of the gaboon viper. The two species are obviously quite closely realated & the gabino is stunning, it looks like an artist, a brave one, got hold of it & painted it those amazing colours!

My Godness what a beautiful species, the colors, the camouflage, just amazing.
It Breaks my heart when i think about how long it took to evolve into such a beautiful species(probably millions of years), and how fast humans are destroying it :(
