I am an experienced jeweler and metalsmith, but I am always ready to learn. I was about to do this type of setting for the first time in a long time and I appreciate the refresher course given. It was very helpful.
Sheena Thomas my pleasure. Lots more at www.jewellerytrainingsolutions.com.au
I love the videos!! I am a self taught Jeweler and metalsmith and enjoy seeing what everyone else is doing!
Lion Punch Forge LPF great to hear from you Cheers Peter
The modified pliers are a great idea. Thanks for the video.
I have made settings similar to what you have made. Mine was made from .8mm sheet. I would split the corners, ball burthe inside. I had made earrings. Your work looks better than what I have made. Great video Peter!
Informative video visually, why no audio commentary to explain the steps and different burs your using?
Dear sir, Namaste, I am specialist in Diamonds fitting, the Video is good how to learn stone fitting, thank you,
open on the bottom would be fine, ime going crazy allowing for the corner cuts using 1.2mm plate.if the cut is 2 thirds of the way in or half the measurements are complex, the saw blade is 0.4 mm wide.i am having so much trouble figuring out the exact formula for doing these.if i change to 1mm or 1.5mm plate all measurement is adjusted, but what is the formula.
i want to know how to make the setting for say a 12 mm square stone.
Good.
안녕하세요.
일본에서 보고있습니다.아주 잘 하십니다 감사합니다.
So, Peter - Do you keep slack in your saw blade for some reason? I've noticed this in a couple of videos. Just curious. Thanks! -
No it’s the usual tension with a sharp note ting when you test it. Some camera angle show it bending
Hi Peter - Nice video! One newbie question: What is the handpiece that you're using at the end to smooth out the setting?
Zippy DoDah it’s a dremel engraver that I have modified to use as a hammer tool
What tool did you use to push the prong?
I use a dremel electric engraver (hammer tool)I have made modification to the tip.
