Jetboil only offers a 1 year limited warranty. They told me the other day they don’t repair, or sell parts. They were able to give me 35% off coupon on my next purchase.
@@blakewisdom1609 well that just made the decision for me, I’ll never buy one. $300 stove and you can’t buy a single part for it. Insane! I’ll stick with my ancient Coleman stove that I can buy every single part for for a couple bucks
You always do such great reviews. :) I still love my trusty Coleman 424 (suitcase) guide series stove. With a small Stansport propane adapter these stoves can run THREE types of fuel: White Gas, Unleaded and Propane. If you clean and lube the o-rings on the adjustment valves (even on a new stove) you will have a LOT of flame adjustability. Cheers!
I have the jet boil, and its great. I had it in my Amazon cart for a long time. And then one day it was on sale. I saved $70. I have to say that $300 is a hard pill to swallow. $230 was a much easier decision.
I have a Nature Hike version of those and with that case I spent $85 on Amazon. I works great and uses the jet boil style iso propane canisters. I use the big ones and it does just fine. In the winter I use a USB powered canister warmer which is a game changer. I really like the genesis but it's way too expensive
I got the Cofiyard stove when it was still $70…. Mine did not come with anything but the stove. They offered a more expensive kit with the pots, but the $70 I spent only got me the stove. Great video!
They both can do the job so that's nice. Since the tops come off, with your skills you should be able to take apart the broken valve and get a replacement. Hopefully it wouldn't be that difficult to research.
Great review! Now I'm curious about a couple of things; 1. can the burner head from one unit be swapped to the other unit? ( this might be a cheap upgrade to the cofiyard to help improve boil times) 2. which unit uses more fuel to boil that same volume of water? side note, I would be interested to hear if jetboil has repair parts available for the Genesis, at that price it needs to be repairable IMO
the bigger gas line is pushing more fuel...in your testing use new gas bottles for each one and weigh them...see how much the bottle weighs after Jetboil compared to how much the other bottle weighs...what most people look at is time to cook but you need to compare fuel used
Thank you for another informative video. Overtime the Jetboil might also save fuel over time. I would also like to know if it would perform the same in cold or wind. I am using an old Colman red nail camping stove, that my father gave me when my parents had aged out of camping. Colman has parts for every part of the stove the stove even 60+ years from production date. I bet you can get the part for the Jetboil. I purchased a mechanic grade set of basic tools when I purchased my first car and almost 60 years later I am still using those tools and I have been given replacement tools for any thing that has broken. If I need a specialty tool I will purchase a cheap knock off if I figure I won't need it very often, but for things I will be using a lot, I have learned, by quality and cry once. Thank you for taking the time to perform the side by side comparison.
Very interesting. I live vicariously through you and a few other channels...only get out about once a year. My 1975ish green colemon gets the job done..
Actually a great test and comparison. Not leaning one way or the other. It is what it is. The Jet Boil is a great product. It falls into the “buy once, cry once” category. Yes, it’s broke to a point and nothing lasts forever. Like others have said it’s worth following up with Jetboil and see about a fox or a part. On the other hand we have the “ cheap Chinese knock-off”. It’s certainly affordable and measures up to a point. Some will go with one or the other for their own reasons. There’s a market for both, “unfortunately”. It’s hard to compete with the price of the (fill in the country) knock-off but “usually” not the quality. Go easy on me I did put usually in quotes. 😊 Thanks for sharing Jason
@@jaystewart9947 buy once and apparently cry twice if it falls and breaks the knob. Someone else stated Jetboil only has a 1 year warranty and won’t fix their stoves and won’t sell any of the parts to repair it yourself. Crazy.
Jason, try using the Jetboil regulator on the Cofiyard and see if there's a difference. If you're really curious, also try using one of the Jetboil burners.
I’m a bit surprised jetboil doesn’t offer parts. We got the jetboil for ourselves on Megan’s recommendation, and it hasn’t missed a beat for us. The price was quite the pill to swallow at the time, but for the space it saves and the overall quality… and the fact it’s worked now for many years getting beat up in our truck where it lives… I don’t regret the purchase
I was thinking about getting a more compact stove and considered the Jetboil, but the $300.00 price tag was a no go for me. Might have to check out this other stove.
BTW, if I understood you correctly, you can actually buy the CofiYard stove AND the pots for less than the cost of the Jetboil pots. That sounds like an easy call for most folks in this economy. Very thorough video with good useful info though. What did Meagan decide to do? I don't think you ever said.
The Cofiyard is a great option for having a two-burner setup, but if you can spring the extra cash, I'd buy the Jetboil, but it is hard to beat the price point of the Cofiyard.
Would have been nice to see a comparison with both burners going at once. I mean each stove with both at the same time, because if one has a better regulator, it may have shown an even bigger difference. I don’t know exactly how it works, but apparently some regulators work much much better in the cold. Anyway, in mild temps, if you just go once in a while, at 1/4 the price? For family car camping, we have very limited space. I’ve been using one of those butane stoves, but it’s one burner in a briefcase style plastic box. It’s a lot of space for a single burner. Maybe I’ll pick one up for next season.
I’m Im pretty sure JetBoil will have a replacement part. Looks like it would be a simple repair. Buy once, cry once unless you are an occasional twice a year camper.
I just ordered the CofiYard. My current kit, which I've used for a few years, bit the dust. With today's discount and my Amazon Prime benefits the price came down to $66 and change. To be honest, I could care less about boil tests. I just need it to boil. I can do other things while I'm waiting a few more minutes for water to boil. I'm retired Army and on a fixed income and I spend a good amount of time in my truck camper. Price point is very important to me. If you have discretionary income by all means go ahead and pay for the better quality.
Only the plastic button broken on the jetboil? Is the control still usable ? I know it’s not convenient, but I would use a plier or vise grip or whatever tool to keep using it ! Replacing the jetboil seems to be a huge waste to me. Hope you can repair it. Cheers
I purchased a drop in like yours, it has all the btus a person needs, it's more compact than these and they run off a regular tank. Why does Megan prefer to cook with a portable unit instead of setup like yours?
You got what you pays for , quality is 1/10 Cofiyard n Jetboil. Cofiyard might last a few trips then start to not working and jet boil will last you 100 plus times.
i would have kept it on for a while to see if the bottom overheats. the cheap stuff does creating a fire hazard second. some of the cheap ones you cannot connect to a hose and to a larger propane tank, without going through a horrible waste of time trying to fabricate something that will fit the pipe. it happened to me when i had to replace my REI stove and bought a cheap stove that it is useless. also TIME WILL TELL...
Very helpful comparison video, but I think Meagan should just find herself a fella with the skills to repair the knob on her old stove, either by Yankee ingenuity or by buying some replacement parts. There are some epoxies out there that I'm sure can mend that knob back on. If she want's to sh*tcan it, I'll take it!
I would contact Jetboil and see if you can get parts or send it in for service? the new stove is cool but if you have the jetboil and like it get it fixed! that is if you can....
See if Jetboil will send you the threaded brass fitting and new knob. Grab some thread tape from Home Depot and fix the Jetboil….. replace….. and blammmmm fixed!
I still don’t see why over $200 is reasonable for jet boil. It’s an insane amount especially for those who are using every now and then. The twin burner Coleman from Walmart works better I believe and for a fraction of the price. This is ridiculous
At $300.00 there should be some support from Jet Boil. Send for repair, get a part, etc.
Why not give jetboil a call and see if they’ll repair it?
Jetboil only offers a 1 year limited warranty. They told me the other day they don’t repair, or sell parts. They were able to give me 35% off coupon on my next purchase.

Great videos! So for $210 more you gained 5mins to boil water, it’s camping at the end of the day not restaurant cooking challenge.
How about doing one of your everyday meals on each stove so the cook quality can be seen! Good comparison anyway as usual!
I like the price of the cheaper one for sure. Thanks for the video
Great info. Thanks Jason!

To replace your broken knob, ADM makes a slow motion control knob for German equatorial mounts for astronomy that I think would work perfectly.
I was thinking about getting a more compact stove and considered the Jetboil, but the $300.00 price tag was a no go for me. Might have to check out this other stove.
I would go with the cheaper one, thats a big price difference. And sure that you would get use to the adjustment.
Plus if you break a knob off and have to buy a new stove, you aren’t spending $300.00.
Interesting comparing propane to electric for my needs. Thank you for the video.
Great review
Picked up a Coleman Fold N Go for $40 on Marketplace
I've read a lot of complaints about that stove. What's your experience been?

Sure, its easy to reward the Chinese with our money for stealing intellectual property.
Great review.... I never got the clam design. No wind screen...etc.
Great video! Thank you!
Love the jet boil quality product, pricey well worth it though👍
I don’t disagree

Did you by chance try to fit the cofiyard stove in the jet boil pots and pans?

Personally, I'd spend the money and get the Jetboil. If i'm going to have an open flame inside my van I want the best quality I can get.
THe fast flame control might be bad because the smaller lines. Maybe more pressure in the lines that take longer to react to turning the burner down.

This is a great price for someone on a budget. I just have a really hard time encouraging knockoffs.
Do either of these run off 'standard' gas canister (Jetboil, Primus, etc)??

Well since this is designed for outdoor, maybe the knob should have been designed more robust.
Jason the welder!!!!it's brass either weld or replace rod????
Not that easy.

$65.99 on Amazon Black Friday right now.
Probably not a coincidence that they raised the price $20 after giving you a 20% off discount code for your channel.
What about just replacing the knob?

That’s a good idea I will tell Meagan!🤣
Is the broken button on the jetboil compatible with the CofiYard? Can you exchange them?
No it’s not.
Jet boil has needle valve, the other has a normal valve that has no precise gas flow. 👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Man I would think you could fix the jet boil…. I wonder too if you could swap the jet boils regulator over an see what happens 🤔
In Canada, Jetboil costs $389.99
I would contact Jetboil and see if you can get parts or send it in for service? the new stove is cool but if you have the jetboil and like it get it fixed! that is if you can....
I’d would think Jetboil would sell replacement parts for their stoves.
The CofiYard has now shot up to $139.
get a hold of jetboil, they might can help Megan with her stove...
Jetboil👍 🔥. Мне хотелось бы сравнения после одинакового времени использования.
Serves us consumers right for buying a cheap knockoff of a well engineered product.
I'd think that you could buy a replacement part from Jetboil.
See if Jetboil will send you the threaded brass fitting and new knob. Grab some thread tape from Home Depot and fix the Jetboil….. replace….. and blammmmm fixed!
If they're similarly constructed where's the 5lb weight difference factor in?
Four minutes for a savings of 230 dollars is a good compromise.
4 min difference! I’ll save the $$ go with the cheaper one ..
Send it back for a new valve
Wow! Just replace the knob!!!!! And if necessary you can get a valve replacement.
Can’t you fix the Jet Boil?
I say replace the broken part.
"Very finite"="very limited"
Now $90 plus tax, so may as well be $100. I'm older, so I prefer the buy once, cry once theory.😂
✌️👌
Yes,jetboil are nice, but they are overpriced.
Lmao..$300 is insane
We have seen this stove a zillion times?????????
Jetboil=RIPOFF!!!!!!!
Where are they made? I’m not buying China knockoffs.
I'm pretty sure JetBoil stoves are made in China.
The Jetboil and the Cofiyard are both made in china.
