I’m a woman and a Teacher. I had such a great time talking with my male Teacher friends in the mailroom about Star Wars and about the movies, shows, & animated series. Gender isn’t even a thing, it’s just a bunch of the coolest nerds nerding before we teach middle schoolers.

They shouldn't have to worry about misogynistic remarks or sexism or hate, give them time to be children and learn later on because it's coming very soon afterwards. Gender is a thing, yes, but in the context in which she stated it in, not really.

When I said I loved Black Panther in Civil War I was called a nerd. When I said I didn't like Black Panther in the Black Panther movie I was called a racist. Words like “racist” and “misogynist” are political cudgels these days and essentially translate to, “You don’t agree with me, which makes you a bad person.” The insults are so common, they no longer have any meaning.
@@durthdiabeto he was very skilled, smart, and ruthlessly determined in Civil War. In Black Panther he does a bunch of dumb things, like agreeing to fight Warmonger for the title of king. The worst things were stuff like Dirt roads in Wakanda, farming rhinos, and Skyscrapers with thatched roofs. Either way if you liked the movie that's fine with me.
As a female whos been watching your videos for a few years now, I've never seen you as a 'mysogynist' (it seems like the word barely has any meaning anymore). Even in recent videos, you've made it incredibly clear that a person of any gender can create Star Wars, but they have to be dedicated and respectful towards the original material and truly understand it. They should want to make a Star Wars story, not a political statement. But it seems most women hired to work on Star Wars care more about gender politics and showing that women are just as capable (which is often shown in Mary Sue ways, and more often TOLD to you instead of shown; they tend to push into the point that women are better than men as opposed to being equal to) than making a compelling and inspiring story.

As someone who has become a massive fan of Star Wars over the course of only 3 years, beginning from the end of 7th grade all the way till now, i just want to say that I am extremely grateful and happy to have discovered your channel on RUclips. Honestly, this channel has provided a positive counterpoint to the frustration & animosity i feel towards Lucasfilm/Disney for their obstinate NEED to destroy what they obviously no longer understand….if they ever did.
I miss the SWEU content from the ‘90’s & early 2000’s…..such compelling novels & character arcs. SWT is keeping that candle lit with his analysis & fun original content.
If we ever get the SW we knew & loved back, content from channels like SWT will be a huge reason why it returns. Weathering the Disney typhoon of incompetence is no small feat….and to suffer identity politics trolls simultaneously? We all owe SWT endlessly unconditional gratitude.

I'm going to be honest (Again for everyone) I'm not a hardcore Star Wars fan, I enjoy the movies but it never made a massive impact on my life. What I am interested in is how it makes an impact in other people's lives just like many other things we all hold special. Watching your channel over the years has helped me understand the fandom, the story and lore so that if I do meet Star Wars fans i can understand them well enough. I prefer to think of my nature as trying to be a "Global citizen" I don't have to be a fan to see that the Disney corporation hasn't dealt with Star Wars well and they are paying the price, just like they did with the Muppets and with Marvel. We used to go to movies, play games and consume entertainment to escape our daily issues or our own beliefs for a bit. This is essential for humans because it helps us recharge our resilience in the real world. If I want to view "real life" I'll watch a documentary or just witness it myself. The world has a real problem with not being able to take a break and these media corporations are not helping. You only wanted to address that issue and now you can see how badly many people can't switch off their own real world beliefs. Without that break we are actually stunting progress, acceptance and human social growth.

It's misleading people to the idea that this person has a higher education then they probably do which makes their opinions more weighty then they actually are. Here's the thing. I agree that creatively the best ideas should rise to the top. It doesn't matter your gender, race, etc...however, the real world problem is the people making the decisions have historically only given those opportunities to people that look like them. What's happening now is people are expressing their joy in giving opportunities to women & people with diverse backgrounds. Its way to easy for Star Wars Theory be offended because he looks like George Lucas...and all the people that shaped what we knew of Star Wars. People always say they want the scales to be balanced but un order for balance it must be unequal going the other way before there is balance.

She is correct through. Yes, her statement was a broad generalisation, however, the majority of the Star Wars fanbase is male dominated. Women, as a generalisation, do not care or watch Star Wars. I heard it and I took it as a different approach. Star Wars has been mainly a male audience and it does suck when my fandom is questioned because I’m a woman. Most of the time I’m given a question and depending on my answer, they’ll consider me a fan or not😑 why I gotta be put in the spot like that. I will start with stating that I do not believe you are not a misogynist. At the same time after listening for years and hearing the overwhelming negativity that you’ve expressed towards Kathleen Kennedy and some comments you have made in regards to Rey I can see how some would believe such a thing.
