“Love Jones” is a warm hug wrapped in a sexy, poetic blanket. Nia Long and Larenz Tate had chemistry hotter than a jalapeño. Their banter was pure gold! I mean, who doesn’t love a guy who dedicates a poem to a girl he just met? The way they navigated their relationship was a beautiful mess of awkward moments and steamy scenes that had me both laughing and cringing. And that soundtrack? So smooth it could charm the pants off a statue! No wonder it’s a favorite of mine!
This movie is and will always will be one of my favorite movies. It is 90's personified. Perhaps the best mix of cool and romance ever put to film. Perhaps the most quotable romantic movie of all time. One of the best movie soundtracks of all time. I actually met one of the producers who was instrumental in putting the soundtrack together. He had so many cool stories to tell me about working with various artists on the soundtrack. Thank goodness they never ruined this movie by trying to make a sequel. As one single film, it remains iconic. This is only one Love Jones.
First. Love you guy's. Second. One of the Greatest Love Stories of all Time is Love Jones. The singer in the beginning sing "Hopeless" is Dionne Farris (I played this soundtrack until the CD skipppppeed) Dionne released an Amazing Solo Project in 1994. "I know" is probably the song people would recognize. Keep up the Amazing Job! 🙏🏾🙌🏾
Nia Long!!! She’s aging like fine wine! This woman has been serving looks since the '90s, and somehow, she just keeps getting hotter. I thought she peaked with “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”, but no, she’s out here redefining beauty standards every decade. Her skin glows like she just walked out of a damn skincare commercial. Nia’s confidence and grace that make her even more stunning imo. May we all look that good when we hit our 50s!
I was a freshman in college at CAU in 2011 when my dad bought me a bunch of dvds. When I tell you I watched this every week 😂 the movie poster is hanging above my tv right now and I have the script. Idc if people say it’s “toxic” they were in their early 20s, toxicity was to be expected lol. I love this movie!
@@Syntell If y'all haven't seen it, I'd recommend "Things Never Said" with Omari Hardwick and Shanola Hampton. It's my favorite black film of all time. Well written, Well acted and the two main characters are both poets, so there's spoken word in the film as well. I enjoyed this reaction. Y'all take care ...
An absolute masterpiece 👌🏾 felt like i was there watching with you! Nia & Larenz's chemistry is unmatched! Just googled Lisa, she was on a roll in the 90s with this, Jason's Lyric, ER and others. It seems she's had some challenges recently but is getting better. Wishing her well 🙏🏾❤
This is my favorite movie! I’m so happy you two rewatched it with us! This movie put me on to the best songs with the soundtrack and opened me up to reading poems by Sonia Sanchez
Now I have to find my DVD of this so I can watch it again for the umpteenth time🥰. Both of you are a treat with your reactionsto this beautiful movie. I love that we can see us as whole, complex and loving people. No trauma porn just living and loving life as it shows up for us. 10's across the board!
Being a poet myself, I’ve always loved the concept of this film growing up which probably blinded me from seeing things that don’t sit well with me now as a 40 yr old man. Getting someone’s info and showing up at their door is creep’ish. And they played way too many games w/ each other at their big age. Calling it a “love story” is debatable for me.
Yeah watching as a grown adult had me like…their communication sucked. BUT to be fair…she did say it was timing cuz she was coming out a serious breakup. There was bound to be a period of vulnerability issues.
I just seen this movie for the first time about 2 years ago and I didn’t like it but after rewatching, I think it was because it was way too realistic lol it’s a great story and soundtrack
I can't stand "Marvin" after seeing For Color Girls. I already didn't like him as Darnell on Girlfriends. Larenz Tate will be my man in my head forever.
@syntell @snootyvegan THANKS for this!!!! Okay, hope y'all don't mind some ten-years-older-than-the-two-of-you-and-from-New-York-metro-area-arrogance comments: * By the time this film premeired, the whole thing had been played out--at least on the East Coast. Remember, this is four years *after* the premiere of #DigablePlanets "Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space)" and folks like #TheRoots, #RegEGaines and #JessicacareMoore had been well-established--on vinyl, etc. (And let's not even start with #LaurynHill, right?) #SaulWilliams' "Slam" would come out the following year and un-officially close this era out. * In the fight in my head, #LoveandBasketball wins the best #hiphopgeneration #romanticfilm fight, but I understand :) This is the one it competes with, fo' sho'! * For the initiated and the uninitiated, key books that encapsulate this period include "In The Tradition," an anthology edited by #KevinPowell and #RasBaraka, "In Defense of Mumia," edited by S.E. Anderson and #TonyMedina and "Aloud: Voices from the Nuyorican Poets Cafe," edited by Miguel Algarin and Bob Holman.

I hope they'll continue to avoid a sequal for this. Some things should be left alone. This is one of those things.

This. This right here. So much this!! 🖤
This is absolutely in my top 10 of favorite movies. The soundtrack is fantastic as well.
I don't think this film gets talked about enough. Sooo good. Thank you for watching with us.
I love the soundtrack so much
Only two minutes in and I know this is going to be a good time.
Great reaction!!! This was a pleasant surprise.
Larenz Tate had also worked on Royal Family with Redd Foxx and Della Reese. Lisa Nicole Carson was in Ally McBeal
WVON steppers set. Lake Shore Drive. Buckingham Fountain. Definately Chicago.
I had a good time watching this again with you guys
One Of Favorite Romance \Dramas( It Came WhenI Was 21\22!)🙆🏻♀️🤔🎛🖥💕
Ayeee my favorite couple watching my one of my favorite movie couples! ❤❤❤
Yeah Love Jones takes place in Chicago
This is one of my favorite movies! Loved this reaction ❤ Have yall The Photograph with Issa Rae?
Great reaction and commentary. Now, do "Soul Food."
Classic
Exactly, why being in a relationship with someone you can't trust?
Theodore Witcher did Love Jones in 97, Body Count 98 and Damascus in 2023.

I don't think Nina & Hollywood were actually sleeping together. He just said that to get under Darius' skin.

She has poor interpersonal communication skills which is why they can't communicate well, hence, why the relationship is not working.
I can't stand "Marvin" after seeing For Color Girls. I already didn't like him as Darnell on Girlfriends. Larenz Tate will be my man in my head forever.
Classic Black love story.
F it, watch The Inkwell and or The Wiz.
Love this classic. "Hopeless" was sung by Dionne Farris tho.🤎
