Thank you for showcasing this brand. Up til now I would not have looked as closely at the brand and would have mistakenly label it as a "fashion watch" brand, but now I see they are truly on par with the heavy-hitters of horology.

I’m impressed that the camera crew is able to fully expose the background and the subject(teddy) at the same time. It’s either the camera is taking HDR shots or the studio light is on high intensity(notice your forearm shadows on the table).

    • @TeddyBaldassarre
      @TeddyBaldassarre  2 года назад +21

I am glad this is noticed. The amount of light that is needed in front of me is pretty crazy. It essentially needs to win the battle with the sun in order to pull off the shot properly. It is a challenge to light to say the least.

Something else to think about especially in a world that is ever decreasing in its lack of ethics and morals is that this brand is the industry leader in its ethical and environmental sourcing of materials and its dedication in creating an excellent work environment for its employees. Plus,at least here in Vienna you can actually walk into the dealer and pick up a steel sports watch and walk out with it if not the same day then within a couple of weeks, try that with the usual suspects!

I’ve love this watch since it hit the market a few years ago. Its finishing is just wonderful and its dial is spectacular. Best of all is that you won’t see it on everyone else’s wrist. That gets so trite in some circles with some watches. It’s nice to have something that says that you’re an individual.

Chopard is a fantastic watchmaker and one of the best cost to values in the whole industry. But if you get one make sure you really, really like it because they are nearly impossible to sell if you want to flip it (speaking from personal experience).

I think this watch has a character of its own and needs to be appreciated for what its DNA has developed into. Obviously, each one of us could say what we'd do differently if we had our own watch company. I think brands express their style diversity by developing different concepts, albeit at times resembling others, by gradually maturing their prowess in a tight horological space. Chopard isn't featured as much as some of the other top players, but the Alpine Eagle certainly holds its own. Teddy, videos like this that discover a brand's heritage are much appreciated.

This watch is without doubt, much more watch for the money compared to Nautilus, Royal Oak. Honestly, PP, AP is over rated & charge way too much $$ for watches that are just a tier down from Rolex in mass production especially when compared to brands like A Lange et Sohnne, FP Journe,

I tried it and had some serious problems with it. 1- the dial is too small in proportion to the watch, needs to have at least 2mm bigger dial. 2 the bracelet makes it worse, starts very wide and not tapered enough so it feels so bulky with a tiny dial. With these two adjustments I would definitely want to buy it

    • @dietrichhenne3172
      @dietrichhenne3172 2 года назад

I feel the same...the dial is just too small compared with the bezel. The dial texture is spectacular and I recommend to everyone to see it in the flesh, the video can't convey it.

    • @lewisjones3345

The bracelet is wide feeling. I like the more aggressive taper feel of the Rolex and Zenith type watches, not really the wider Longines and Omega Seamaster diver bracelets.

Chopard is too often overlooked as a serious watch brand, with "experts" and collectors viewing the marque as a jewelry company. They disregard the legacy and watchmaking history of some marvellous watches, both dress and sports styles. I love the Mille Miglia range for its motorsports connections.

It's a beautiful watch and I was sorely tempeted to buy it when I tried on the blue dial variant a year ago. But at this price point I think it needs a gold rotor at the back. If JLC can do it for a watch that costs half as much, so can Chopard. It may sound weird that I am griping about such an inconsequential thing, but this watch's selling point is CLEARLY the jewelry-like design and the impeccable mirror finish. Then why not add a touch of precious metal?

Design ugly and unoriginal with many elements taken from the Patek Philippe Nautilus and Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. The thinness and case size are probably the two standout features. Personally I think Chopard should just stick to making jewellery and maybe women’s watches that’s where I see them doing well. Men’s watches, nah ; I don’t think so, at least I would not buy one.

This is one of the best new watch releases IMO in the last few years. It's a stunning piece for Chopard and while expensive it's still coming in cheaper than some alternatives in this similar style from Patek or AP. Great video yet again! Stunning videography to capture the beauty and depth of that dial. I gave the Alpine Eagle some recent consideration, along with the GP Laureato 42 mm, before deciding to go with a discontinued Date Just. All sporty but with dressy versatility, in my opinion. Chopard definitely has credibility over in Europe. My brother-in-law works for a Swiss company and recently brought me back a Watches magazine with the blue flying tourbillon model on the cover. Definitely not fashion watches!

PEOPLE PLEASE - this 1970s design trend will end. And when it does there are gonna be a lot of people holding watches that they overpaid for and don't look that good... I'm not saying don't buy a Royal Oak or Nautilus at retail if you can get one. But all of these alternate versions - Alpine Eagle, PRX, Laureato, etc will not look good in about 3-5 years.

It’s a nice piece but the price point is a challenge for what you get. I think the finishing of the movement could be better especially at this price point.

Disappointed in this poorly researched video. Superficial explanation of the chopard brand. Also, totally skips over the 8379 St Moritz model that the alpine eagle evolved from. Ted should stop loafing around with Mr. Wonder ful and make serious content again.

I own a blue face alpine eagle, never knew there was a quick release function with the bracelet. Funny how they don’t even offer leather strap or rubber strap with quick release system.

I didn't know about Chopard until one of their watches showed up on "Crash landing on you" - a Korean Comedy/Drama. As far as this watch goes, I love the dial. The swirls actually remind me of feathers, hence the Alpine "Eagle"

I agree with you 99% of the time, Teddy. But doesn't it wear larger than a 40mm because of the flaired lugs?
If that 41mm didn't wear like a 44mm I would have left the store with it. The lugs flair too much. It's horrendously big.. I'll look at the 36mm.
Editing: does it wear like a 40 in your opinion because of the integrated bracelet? The only integrated bracelet that I loved was the Omega Constellation 38mm, and obv the Royal Oak 37mm (always felt they wore like a 38-39).
Just watched again... Maybe I'm off bc of the 23mm bracelet on why it wears bigger?
The lug to lug is so perfect.

I'm very glad to see this particular brand and watch on your Channel Teddy.
I'm hoping you'll make more videos on brands like Chopard; brands in the medium to high hourology market that are under appreciated or simply less known.

A scammer has respond to my comment and i respond by saying they are just as bad as Barbara Streisand (this has to do with the fact that Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the creators of South Park, really hate her). Don't be fooled, don't respond to them, instead report them, as i said they are just as bad as Barbara Streisand, Teddy won't ask you to use the Telegram app to text him. Also, Teddy, do you like South Park or Eurovision or both?

For 10K I'd go with the Speedy Moonwatch Professional and then combine it with a BB 58.

For $13K there are tons of options with useful complications out there that would easily outperform this watch. This is a no for me 😂

Chopard is criminally under discussed and under promoted. The lack of awareness amongst the broader watch audience is always surprising.
That said, if you’re a person like me who builds their watch case through the pre-owned channel - and buys watches to own and wear, not invest and flip, that lack of awareness helps because they end up being a fantastic buy because of depreciation.
Not very long ago I secured a Monaco Historique in Titanium and Rose Gold for significantly LESS that a standard stainless steel sports watch of the same basic positioning and design from any of the big premium marques.
It’s rare you can find a titanium case and a precious metal anything for the price of a couple of Longines.

Teddy i need your help finding my next watch. I have a tissot gentleman black dial, s3iko solar ssc769 chronograph and the orient kamasu. I was thinking about the junghans max bill or even form c to save some money but what do you think? Another diver, maybe another dress? Anywhere between 400 and 1200 for my next range

    Thanks for the great video!
I like the design of the watch, and would prefer the blue dial. But imo, the piece is too pricey for what it is. No precious metals, nada… and the price on the Grey is 30% below retail. For the retail price it has, I’d rather choose a bicolor Rolex.

Nice looking watch, except that the date window position is horrible. Why do so many watch manufacturers these days put the date window in the 4/5 o'clock position?

Also, if i sound like i am dissing on Barbara Streisand by comparing her to those scammer, keep in mind that i am a South Park fan, i hate her because Stan and The Boys (which sound like a good band name, by the way) doesn't deserve to be tortured by her singing voice.

The Turkish watch channel had some red dial versions commissioned and I think there’s a second possibly blue dial version in addition to the original grey. It’s LU Chopard. Not LUC Chopard. They are better than Patek. They make 65K watches a year and with the new factory they’ve just finished and opened: it will be in excess of 65K soon.
I remember the white Gold with baguette diamond bezel Grand Cru watch. Highly finished and about the same as a precious metal Sky Dweller £35K.
    Breguet
    Blancpain Fifty Farhoms and Villeret
    Omega Planet Ofeab
Glashütte Original Sea Q Panorama Date
    Cartier
    Panerai
    IWC
    Hublot
Are some brands I’d get instead of Rolex
    And of course Chopard.
