Thank you for sharing. All I had to do was to take the tentioner off, lose the deck belt so I could remove it from the back pulley, and take the driving belt out. took me about 15 minutes to replace it. But thank you for taking the time to share. It helped get the job started.
Very nice. Sounds faster! Thanks!
Thanks for the video. On my model 938548, 54 inch deck, was not an easy job took about 3 hours. Had to remove the deck spring, and removed the deck belt, and then worked the drive belt over both pulleys over the top - enough room over the pulleys and I used a claw grabber and a screw driver to work them over - no room for fingers. I did not need to remove the PTO bracket or the skid plate. Then around the pto pulley and under the idle arm and on to that pulley. My drive spring is a lot different that this video - it was much more stout and I struggled for a long while to get it on with a variety of tools - such as my spring tools and needle nose vise grips. I have looked at a few of these videos and the drive spring is smaller on the older units I guess. Not fun!
Ouch! Thanks for sharing. Hope I don’t run into an older unit like that.
The best drive belt video I found for my issue
Awesome thank you so much!
Thanks so much for this video, I took one look and thought I'd have to take the entire machine apart to get the belt on, after watching your video I had the belt replaced and tools put away all in 10 mins, thanks so much again
You're welcome!
Thanks for the view of how the belt appears on the pulleys, now I know I have to release the deck belt to get the drive belt over that part and up where it needs to be
I'm glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching!
You actually don't need to remove the bracket. Just stuff the whole belt in through the space between the bracket and open it on the other side!
Nice! That will make it easier. Thanks!
Nice video - I would recommend vice grips to put the spring back on.
Good advice! Thanks
Let me add a comment here that will greatly help those who have a mower like mine. When you try to put the belt on the tension arm can be easily pulled back. If you look on the side of the mower there is a hole on the bracket that holds the 5 inch anti tip wheel. (just in front of engibe exaust) It's just above the wheel. I was able to insert a long 3/4 inch ratchet entention thru that hole and pull the tension bar back safely while i manuevered the belt in position. Apiece of rebar would also work. This makes it so much easier.
Awesome! Thank you so much!
The best video yet on this!!!
Thank you so much! Appreciate you watching!
Thanks sooo much for your video! It took me a couple hours, but I got my drive belt and pulley switched out. Mower is running great! I ordered the pulley, belt, and tension spring from Amazon for less that $50!
Great to hear! Feels good to fix machines doesn’t it? Thanks for watching and sharing.
I'm doing mine soon. Thanks for great presentation! Very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
You don’t have to remove the clutch bracket. It feeds around
Thanks, good video. Took about 15 minutes after watching.
Great to hear!
Really appreciate it. Needed to figure out how to do this.
Thanks so much for watching!
Just replaced my belt on hydrostatic pulleys, took about 1 hr. My clutch switch was in front so i unhooked it up on top by motor it was a lot easier. I believe i can do it quicker next time. If i still have the mower . I picked up back end with tractor loader made it easier to work on.
Nice work! I might try that next time
That's why these places like hustlers getting 92.00 I got a raptor SD I had to replace the deck to deck spindles and two belts two transmission I did all myself and I saved myself
That's fantastic!
Oh my gosh…you do NOT have to take any bolts of!! It is sooo much easier than this!
Oh cool. Please elaborate to help future visitors. I appreciate your input.
The PTO bracket does not have to come off. And if you take a pair of 45° angled needle nose you can pop the spring right on and off of the tensioner arm. Should be able to change this belt in less than 10 minutes
@@eliteoutdoor7203I wish you had been here yesterday,
How do you avoid taking the bracket off?
Appreciate ya brother mine broke today.
Glad I could help. And thanks for commenting!
You literally didn’t have to take the clutch brake bracket or plug off.
Thanks for watching and sharing. I’ll try that next time
Exactly. It’s confusing, but you really don’t need to take anything apart (other than removing the tensioning spring). No matter how you do it though, it is a sucky job. I’ve done it many times and it is never fun.
thank you so much. You are 100% correct.
Thank you very much.
Thanks for watching!
That knobby belt is junk
They will always fail too quickly
OEM replacement
Stens 265-854
Replaces scag 48553
Just put it on big dog mp alpha 60 inch ( same as hustler ) not the magazine lol
Haha glad you clarified and thanks for the tip! I Appreciate you
Thanks man.
Happy to help
I can’t get my belt over the fan pulleys it’s literally too thick I’ve watched several videos and everyone says they just slid it right over top of them but there’s no way to do that on mine mode 931741
Is it a 1/2” belt? If so it should fit
Only trouble I had was getting the wires plugged back in.
Yeah crazy how if it moves at all they never line up. 🤔
But once you know how to put that transmission took me seven times to did it four or five
Good machines but lots of tricks to fix them
Where will u order your spring from??
Thanks for asking. It in the "more" section in my video description
That’s a rotary brand belt. They suck
I agree. I try to get oem when available. Thanks for watching
You took off way too much hardware. There are other RUclips videos that are much easier on changing that belt.
Oh cool. I didn't know there was an easier way. Thanks for sharing
Yeah everyone does things differently so I wouldn't disagree, but I didn't unplug the harness or take the bracket off.
@@Chris-hp4rdI didn't take the bracket off but I had to unhook the wire.
@@angusblack9900 My wire plugs in at the front and I had to take the bracket off. Could not see the wire plug without a mirror. Also had to take off a skid plate before I had room to reach up to get the belt in. I was working from the floor with the back sitting on blocks so I didn't have a lot of room. I have found that every mower or any other equipment is almost always different from what I see watching these videos. That original belt is now obsolete and the new ones are not segmented. They are a little wider making it a bitch to get over the pulley as it hits the frame. That was the hard part.
Thank you so much. So grateful for this video
Thank you for watching!
