• 200 g butter, diced (about 7/8 cup or 14 tablespoons)
• 100 g powdered sugar (about 1/2 cup)
• 1 egg
• 1 pinch of salt
For the filling:
• 1 kg apples (about 2.2 lbs), peeled and thinly sliced
• 100 g sugar (about 1/2 cup)
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• 1/2 tsp ground cloves
• Juice of one lemon (about 3 tablespoons)
For the almond crust:
• 150 g ground almonds (about 1 1/2 cups)
• 50 g sugar (about 1/4 cup)
• 50 g butter, melted (about 3 1/2 tablespoons)
For the caramel sauce:
• 200 g sugar (about 1 cup)
• 120 ml whipping cream (about 1/2 cup)
• 50 g butter (about 3 1/2 tablespoons)
• 1 pinch of salt
Bake at 180°C (350°F, fan oven 160°C/320°F) for about 45-50 minutes until the surface is golden brown and crispy.
