At first I was like, round headlights for sure. But I'm now leaning toward the rectangular headlights. Both are cool. Kudos to Toyota for giving us both!
Wish you could pick one for the Land Cruiser trim. Even if not, I think they shouldn’t have made it an awkward headlight sandwich with either top of line or bottom.
@@Slaxsvo they either keep both or in a couple of years when they do a mid-cycle refresh Toyota will go with which headlights were the most popular. After new Prius, Tacoma, Crown, Gx, Lbx, another great Toyota/Lexus! Very nice 4x4, rugged, and not a soft roader like the Defender. Thumbs up for Toyota!
Hey Kirk, I am in love of the 1958 edition, but the Land Cruiser is a Badass and am just confused which way to go. Kudos to Toyota for nailing it. It will sell real good. Besides, the price is very good and affordable compared to previous. Thanks for the detail analysis.
At first, I liked the round headlights but the more I look at it I could be swayed to the more modern horizontal ones? Either way you can buy whatever trim you want and I’d bet that the headlights are retro fittable.
Maybe in the aftermarket. In other Toyota vehicles the premium headlights have different plugs all together for things like adaptive lighting, more LEDs, etc
I’m actually glad we are getting two versions of the Land Cruiser because this is the smaller one, the Land Cruiser Prado and we also got the 300 series Land Cruiser but it’s brand as the Lexus GX550 the bigger one.
No, we aren't getting the 300 series lc in the US. The gx550 is the lexus equivalent to this 250 series lc/lc prado. The closest thing we get to the 300 series here is the Lexus LX600
Kirk 😂😂😂😂 is like a kid in a candy store 😊 hope you enjoyed every single moment 👍🏾 my vote is base model 🫶🏾 1958 for the win .Plus my husband was born in 1958 😊
Definitely the rectangular headlights for me. But the real question to be asked about the new LC (Prado) is the volume knob placement in models with the 12" screen. While US models have it in the panel between the IP and infotainment, international ones have it near the USB ports. Odd.
@@makatron Available diesel powertrains for the new Prado are quite interesting, with the new mild hybrid that offers the same hp as the regular variant.
I think they should delete the rear armrests and cup holders if they're not importing them with 3rd row seats. But it looks really cool. I wonder what the dealer markup on these will be. Great walk through. Thanks for sharing
Kirk, If you review your comments from a recent Land Cruiser video, I believe you will see the contrasting white roof was predicted. 😉 Unfortunately the matching white wheels have failed to arrive. 🤨
I am now super confused what the next 4Runner will be. My 5th gen feels like an in between 1958 and the upper trim in positioning. Two tone paint is very fetching and nostalgia has me loving the round headlights. Also curious where will these Land Cruisers be built for North America.
I want this. I like the inverter, off road go anywhere design and Toyota quality. I hope the climate control is designed like their other hybrids and I hope the rear seats are easy to remove. Will be looking at the mid level Land Cruiser with the premium trim I think. Awesome!
I Hope time will prove me wrong, but paying $55k with dealer markup for a 4 cylinder makes me feel like a 🤡. 2022 GX still seems like a more capable SUV.
The joke of it is, 99.9999% of these will never ever see the off-road. The closest it’ll get to off road is the parking lot of Erehwon or Whole Foods Market.
Why does everybody think the square headlights are more modern? If they just came out with a round version doesn’t that make the round version more modern?
If you want an off roader from the factory now you don’t have to settle for an unreliable POS. Instead of Jeeps and Broncos who wouldn’t rather have a Land Cruiser? I don’t care about the headlights. I want electronic locker front, back, and transfer case. Detachable sway bar. And all the other off road goodies.

Love my 22 TRDORP. Its a perfect vehicle. However I’ve always wanted a LC. I could see me trading mine in for a mid-level as shown depending on pricing. LC is a legend and will last 4ever.
Exactly I'm curious what kind of price they are going to want for these. It does feel like the sweet spot for the 58 would be 49k. It has a smaller infotainment then the 35k dollar ford ranger. If they are reasonable I will likely be getting one.
I’m wondering if that’s what the sway bar disconnect is apart of. I found that interesting too. I mean they had it for the 4Runner’s even, surprised the Land Cruiser wouldn’t get something similar.
@@bjbernsteins9019 sway bar disconnect is a different approach to more articulation than KDSS and is less effective, there is many comparison and explanation done online u can search for. They should have used a naturally aspirated V6 with a hybrid setup.
I would've preferred that too. Benefit here is more torque but more complex
If there is complexity I would rather take a Toyota over anything else on the market. At least you know it will be reliable.
Toyota and their SUVs man. When a brand knows it's customer base .... the opposite of budlight.
