I recently found this with a great English translation patch. Only had two matches, but loving it so far, and the roster is incredible. I just wish they still made these games today, especially since NJPW is more popular in the U.S. now.
I wish Bruiser Brody was in this game, since he was big in Japan, I also wish they added MMA fighters like Bas Rutten. Black Tigermask (Eddie Guerrero). New Jack would’ve been big in Japan and it would’ve been cool if he was in this game.
Does this game have credits in english? If so can you post a video of them? I'd like to see if Shunsuke Katsumata and Takumi Kon from the WWE gamecube games were involved. Thanks you!
The japanese wrestling games on PS2 are my #1 reason my I wanna get a flip top modded swap magic PS2. Even if the Wrestle Kingdom games are basically just NJPW skinned WWE Day Of Reckoning 2
I play them on an emulator but if you get your PS2 modded, even better. Its worth it, after growing up play the Smackdown games it just cool to see the entirely different roster and style the Japanese games had.

Back in the day (like 2006), I modded my PS2 with the flip top to play King of Colosseum II. I remember it being somewhat easy to do (and this is coming from someone who is terrible at building things), but I can understand not wanting to risk messing up your PS2 by doing it yourself. You could also look into getting a Japanese PS2. I just checked Ebay and the prices seem reasonable.

I did some looking into this! Games are region locked to 4 regions. NTSC-JP (Japan), NTSC-UC (USA, Canada, Mexico, etc), PAL (UK, Europe, Australia, NZ, some other countries) and NTSC-CH (China) So for Japanese games you'll need a Japanese PS2. You can pay someone to have your PS2 modified to play all games but I never tried that.
@@kingnaps9973 do some googling to see how the voltage ratings can affect the Japanese system in your country, maybe or maybe not a voltage converter may be needed. I just imported a ps2 from Japan to Canada and thankfully our voltages are almost identical, also the plug-in for the wall is identical also so I had no issue here
Another is you can get a Japanese PS2 or have your PS2 modded to play those games. The American PS2 won’t play them without some work being done. Hope that helps 🤟

Yes I am, wrestled Tajiri around 2018. It was a great experience. I’ve wrestled on Impact and ROH as well and still working. Hopefully the pandemic will end soon enough and can get back to doing events like normal.

I think they re-used the engines as the games are fairly similar. Though there are a fair bit of differences. I figure those are based on North American and Japanese wrestling differences.&
I have this on my phone the 1st one and 2 i wish i could get the patch for eaglish because its def not like wrestle kindom 1 i could manage and figure out modes its partially in english but WK2 there is no English hard to navigate, i did the patch to for wk2 to translate to english on my computer and transferred it to my phone and the rom stopped working only WK1 worked
Have you played Yuke's gamecube games yet? THQ acted like they were made by a huge team of former AKI employees and I think it only ended up being a couple guys on lead. This game looks like it has some assets from that series, but I'm told that isn't likely because the SVR series because it's on PS2. Do you feel or see any similarities that you can tell between WK 1 & 2 and WM x8 & XIX-DOR & 2 on gamecube???

Memory cards are generally region free so it should work!

Can you move with the joystick on this game?
I believe the joysticks are used for taunts and mini games in the matches. This game likely came before the switch to analogs but I may be wrong!
@@TheTrentGibson I found out that you can actually switch the D-pads for taunts and use the joystick to move , I forgot I even asked this on here. 😂

I played Wrestlemania XIX on the show before. I didn’t have a GameCube but it’s a fun game for sure.
