      Look closer at Hello Fresh. They have chosen to stand behind the opinions of some environmental justice groups and are boycotting Lobster from their menus claiming it is not sustainable. They stand behind the opinion that lobster fishing is causing the deaths of north Atlantic right whales. There hasn't been one single right whale death in 18 years that can be attributed to lobster fishing gear from Maine. They use the deaths of whales as a reason but then when there is more evidence of ship strikes and other industry pressures causing the deaths they say that there is still a risk that a whale could be entangled even though it hasn't happened. Now the Maine lobster fleet is being devastated by low prices and may people whos families have worked on these waters to build the only fishery that year on year is increasing in biomass not depleting will face the very real fact that soon they may have to leave their industry forever.

      Exactly. This is what happens when the only true end-game content is based around these two options. Personally, I've only got about 15% left in the tank for retail. Going to finish Heroic and then forget about retail until a new raid comes around. I really do despise how they've changed this game into Diablo with a different skin. (Normal, Heroic and Mythic vs Normal, Nightmare and Hell). It's boring as hell to keep running the same content over and over just 'treasure hunting', if that was the preferred route... we would just play Diablo instead.

      there is a decent amount of stuff to do outdoors though. I have so many old characters that leveling them all up and getting them ready to go gear wise is something that will keep me busy for some time. Now mind you I am not maxing out all these characters just getting them into dragonflight around level 65-ish and around 280 to 300 I level. From there I feel like it is super easy to just jump into whatever character I want, and do the type of contact that I want to be in dungeon raid etc. because from that point they have a good set up to SpringBoard to 70 and start out getting some decent items. I am kind of back-and-forth when I play I don’t just sit there at the computer and focus on my character to the exclusion of everything else. I have real life distractions so for me each character is like a good day worth of playing. I have 50 characters. on top of that there is a bunch of secret, finding type of stuff out there that will take some effort to accomplish. I still have yet to max out one of my crafters. Tame all the new battle pets, tame all the new, hunter pets, search, all the little nooks and crannies, so honestly, if you play at a semi casual rate like I do, you shouldn’t run out of stuff to do as long as you mix things up with other characters on your squad

    What I probably like the most about Dragonflight is that I have a chance to “complete” my week. I’m not having the easiest time of my life in terms of real life chores but so far I’ve been able to do all world quests and events, haven’t missed a single one and it doesn’t take that much time. BTW I’m mostly a solo player. Just joined a guild but I don’t have that much time. Still I’m pretty confident that I’ll soon get keystone master, however I’m a healer so I’m probably having an easier time than a solo DPS player. Carry on, non-meta players, I’m happy to invite you and in my experience, if you’re a decent player your spec won’t hold you back (at least in my groups) even above mythic+10 so there is hope.

    tried dragonflight, there are definitely improvements over the past few bad expansions, but at this point im just too old and busy to raid anymore. Finding groups for M+ is more stress than I want to deal with and honestly id rather play other things that involve less waiting around. I enjoyed being able to buy my gear with valor points, but now theres a cap and I cant get new gear with it, just upgrade the stuff I already have. The joy in getting that new gear is just gone, replaced with either a slow grind, or waiting a week for the vault. I can sit in dungeon finder for 20 minutes looking for a tank to do my key, or I can fire up a game of something else and play immediately. I mean, not knocking the game, it is what it is, but im 40. MMOs just arent for me anymore.

    • @omarcomming722
      @omarcomming722 Год назад +10

      Very true, the game is simply too time consuming when it comes to group content and it's not something that can be fixed as long as they keep pandering to the highest end of the playerbase.
      M+ takes forever because it's simply too hard, leading people to be extremely selective and picking only overqualified players to run with, and hosting your own key can easily be 30+ minutes of waiting and and an additional 30 minutes for the dungeon, which can all end in frustration and failure if someone fucks up.
      Raiding is hilariously unrewarding at this point and I have 0 motivation to raid after half a raid clear. The gear is boring because BiS is unachievable for 99% of the playerbase due to mythic being both inaccessible and extremely difficult.
      They are designing a game that can only be enjoyable in friend groups whereas most of the community are solo players.

    While Dragonflight is refreshing, it still doesn't have me as excited as I was back in Legion. Plus, wanting to see all of the order hall storylines gave you a reason to level up alts, as well as possibly collecting the artifact skins and taking a crack at the Mage Tower. There's really no reason to do the same in DF unless you just want more options to play for M+ or raiding. Pugging isn't the worst thing in the world. People love to blow it WAY out of proportion. Yes, you will get the shitshows, and you will also get great people. It's just how the world works. Higher M+ dungeons is almost entirely about picking the specific top dps specs and making sure you have specific things, like a DK tank for Court of Stars since they can grip the sentry, or having Hero/Lust for every dungeon. It's why I don't do M+ because my spec that I have fun with just doesn't fall on the top DPS list, and I am fine with that.

    I'm enjoying the gameplay side of things, definitely. Farming for Dragonriding customizations gives me stuff to look forward to, and I can't wait to get to Valdrakken renown 26 for the dragon armor. My biggest gripe with the expansion, however, is the tone. I'm seriously missing what you and Matt lovingly refer to as "beers and heavy metal". Thankfully my DK can park in Acherus from time to time, but when I'm in the Isles, it almost feels like a PG-13 theme park. I can only hope it's just the "calm before the storm" especially with the Old Gods on the horizon, so fingers crossed for some heavier stuff down the line.

    • @Maria_Erias
      @Maria_Erias Год назад +3

      Tone is really odd this expansion. There's a fair few handful of quests that are really trying to hit home and be emotional. The various expedition quests are fun. And there are a few quests in the main story that are interesting (especially the ones dealing with Nozdormu or Kalecgos). But the vast majority of the rest of the quests just feel... bland. Lackluster. Far too many of them feel like fetch quests that are just there to pad out the play time and have no direct bearing on anything. The centaurs send you to go collect 20 bear asses, then next they send you out for 15 beaver tails, 30 bug butts, and to kill 57 elementals. And the pay off for it all is... some gold, a pat on the head, and a "Thanks, now we don't have to do that ourselves."
      At almost no point does it ever feel distinctly "World of Warcraft"-y. It's Hello Kitty Adventure Island with dragons.

Problem being everyone in M+ on higher end so IO focused and there is literally no upside to carry low end content other than carrying your friends (maybe).

I have to admit gameplay wise it just doesn't do it for me much in raiding and dungeons like it use to. I think FF14 has really spoiled me so much where it's managed to make wow encounters just feel very boring and unengaging so the part in wow I use to love with raiding feels more of a chore then a fun experience particularly when it mandates good RNG and having to do M+ which I just hate the design of them and find them annoying rather then fun.

    I came back for dragonflight, I did the leveling and it was fun I enjoyed the game alot but what really ruined the game for me was the community. Every time I would do a mythic plus someone would always talk shit about my damage and then leave after waiting 20 minutes of everyone's time, or I would do a mythic key of my own and form a group, mid into the dungeon someone would just troll and say good luck and leave. It's so annoying. I tried raiding but raiding wasn't really my thing. As a solo player, getting into a group was also annoying, people care way too much about min maxing the game that casuals like myself that don't take the game too serious but wanna do a few dungeons here and there is sometimes impossible to do because no1 invites you or accepts you.

      If you don't care for min-maxing, there's a mode for that: just join a Heroic dungeon group using Dungeon Finder. My problem isn't that I can't do these raids or dungeons I can learn the mechanics quickly it's just that people bitch that my damage is low because I can't get gear because people refuse to accept me due to my ilevel and i either get kicked or someone in the dungon leaves meaning the key dies and we cant do the dungeon anymore, and I can't help that if people don't do these dungeons with me, I feel stuck when I play wow I feel likefor me there is no point in playing if I can't progress anymore over mythic into mythic +

      @@pulseofme6884 In that case, I'd recommend not trying to rush higher keys before you have the gear to do decent damage and to get gear from other places like the renown reps and Obsidian Citadel / Cobalt Assembly grinds during dungeon downtime, as well as the four elemental storms each week. If gear really is the only way you're behind, that should sort it. Usually, however, I only see people being called out on bad DPS because they're not playing correctly and not producing the damage expected from their gear level. In that case, I'd recommend spending some playtime reading about the spec you want to play, and also downloading Hekili to help with rotation management. Hekili is a crutch, but it's very handy to allow someone to focus on mechanics instead of rotation.
      Everyone only has a given number of hours to play in a week, casual players don't deserve a carry from others because they choose to spend fewer hours playing or reading. Everyone wants good gear, but there's no shortcut to that other than to slowly grind out keys and helping others to gear.

    Blizzard is sad to have failed while they did not listen to their player base. As many players got fed up with the borrowed power systems, endless grinds, very all unfriendliness, and so forth. I remember when Ultima Online is the most popular MMO, then Everquest became the new King of MMOs. Everquest eventually lost its throne to WoW. Like WoW, Everquest had some terrible stuff, such a punishing death for characters, non instant dungeons and raids, and so forth. Everquest is still around releasing new expansions, and most of the issues that players left Everquest. Still Everquest is hardly ever mentioned anymore for top MMO lists. Everquest has never gained back their players, and sad but true, WoW does not look like it will return back. FF14 has taken WoW place is the top MMO. As said in Wrath, "No king rules forever". FF14 does not have the terrible design decisions like WoW had with BfA and Shadowlands.

    Monetization - Should be top reason. If there were servers outside of classic that prohibited the WoW Token and Gold Buying I would return to the game. The token has profit motivated Blizzard to put in unreasonable gold grinds to the game to pressure players to buy the WoW token. The Rustbolt Resistor on Mechagon Island killed my love for the game; to work my way to exalted and then be expected to drop $50 for rep grind reward is dumb.

    • @migueltucabron
      @migueltucabron Год назад

      How is that an unreasonable gold grind? You just farm ores and herbs and sell them on the auction house. Even with botting and multiboxers during BfA it was really possible. I've even farmed out the Brutosaur that way in BfA.

    • @robertemumford
      @robertemumford Год назад +1

      @@migueltucabron The issue is that you already did a grind by way of the reputation, and now Blizzard is saying you need to do another, but with the option of paying $50. If this was one time, I could stomach it, but they do it repeatedly. Another example is the three frog mounts, who again are from getting a reputation to exalted. Unlike past reputation grinds, the mounts cost 1,000,000 Gil or about $100, depending on token prices. WoW's aggressive monetization is keeping people like myself away. Obviously, that is not an issue for the millions of current players, but for me, it is, and I doubt I'm alone in that opinion. I suspect a sizable number of the Classic players are like me to some degree, but I am unlike them; I don't want to play Classic but current WoW without the token.
      Classic would see a revolt and exodus of players if Blizzard introduced the WoW token to Classic.
      Note: I should add my issue ultimately is that Blizzard is using things like the Rustbolt Resistor to create 'pain points' in the game where players will be pressured by the daunting task of farming up 500,000 GIL to get the mount. Putting it at the end of a rep grind means the players will approach it as if they already have a sunk cost in the rep grind with the mount. I do not appreciate things like 'pain points' found in free-2-play mobile games in an MMO with a subscription and paid expansions.

      @@robertemumford I really don't see the issiue here. Mounts and their prices are fine if you take the time to learn about gold making. Oh i need to pay roughly 500k gold every patch? Okay, so what? That's easily doable. 500k gold isn't a daunting task. That's two month of doing a little farming here and there.

    My biggest complaint is that it all just felt like busy work with little to no enjoyment for me. I farmed out the mounts and cosmetics I really wanted then was left with no real goal. It's one of the reasons I like my hunter. I can go and track/capture a new pet and it felt like an adventure, especially for rares.

    Gee, I thought this was going to be an analysis of those declining numbers in the lead-in.
    People who play like Bellular are having fun. People who didn't buy made their decision long ago and probably won't be back anytime soon. People who don't play like Bellular who either didn't buy because they saw this coming or who are leaving now are no longer Blizzard's target audience. Numbers will continue to fall until Blizzard becomes willing to accept that the way to retain as many players as possible requires more than catering to only one demographic.
    I didn't buy Dragonflight. I still subscribe to wow. Any reason people quit over is a perfectly valid reason for quitting. Blizzard worked hard to burn their bridges. It's time for them to stop trying to force people into a mold. You can't change human nature.

    Does all this hold up a year later? I'm thinking of jumping in and maybe buying the next expansion ahead of time. But yes or no?
    Edit: I actually left in Mists of Pandaria and came back around for Shadowlands. Then left again because... well Shadowlands made everything into a chore and made the chores easy as all get out to fail and fumble because things that should happen automatically need an extra confirmation for no damn reason. Looking at you Ember Court.

    I went back to shadowlands. The latest thing is for players to hanging around bosses to carry out raids. Why... The Group finder only shows Dragon flight.
    I wanted to get past level 60 that's the only reason I thought to sign up to dragon flight. Where, My frost mage is dying so much that I just want to leave the small dragon isles for good. More the physics of motion are so far away from reality that your mind is going overtime as the unbelievable happens. [such as going though solid objects.] I'm not a ghost, and cannot pass though solid objects. More, Objects in the dragon flight patch are able to occupy the same space and time as other objects... Arrgh ! Blizzard fix this please. I can fly elsewhere in WOW why not make it possible to fly on a griffin or which ever mount I want? Flying Dragons. Dragons are underpowered for flight. I keep thinking... 'This dragon needs a jet engine strapped-on to it'. Arrgh... One unwritten rule of WOW is don't die as you will be left walking for ages,,,,,,,,,,,-,,,,,,,,,. all over the place. Again, Again and Again. Boring!

    The one reason you didn't really discuss is those of us who went to another game and just fell in love with it and can't really be bothered to go back to our "old" game. I love FFXIV and the past two years have been the best gaming experience I've had in a decade since WoW started to lose its sheen. I made new friends in a new game, and my old friends didn't go back to WoW, they quit for good. Shadowlands is what showed me the door, but Dragonflight just doesn't seem to have anything that makes me want to leave my new home. I don't like the new character designs, the graphics look dated, and I don't even remember how to play my class at this point. The one instance I did was full of a bunch of jerks. The transmog system is neat, but all the old outfits are pixelated and the new outfits are really bland. I tried to restart a new character and the leveling experience is just hideous now. I'd be on board with trying a NEW WoW, a WoW 2.0, with a whole new engine! However, for now, there's a lot of truth in the old adage that you can never go home again.

      Absolutely golden comment. if you have your community already, it is good, you are good too. But if you are all alone and trying to find guild, df literally sucks. Because u need to fucking pug all day at m+ and its still sucks. You need to show yourself and show your abilities but at the start nobody fucking care about you if you don't have like 2.5k rio and decent items. So you have to pug all day long and gl with that.
      You know why legion was good? Because it was rewarding you if you play all day along even with pugging. Now it's just nothing. No solo grind, no titanforge, nothing. gitgud? how am i supposed to gitgud? In legion even with fucking pugs you were getting titanforge.
      DF good for your raidlog unless you are not a lonely player.

    I just recently came to World of Warcraft and have played a few hours and enjoyed the early experience but am already about to quit. I've only had one interaction with another player in hours of play. To me, there are plenty of players, but they aren't engaging unless you are already a part of their group or guild. The early stages have been very lonely. I've tried other servers to see if it was just the server I was on but they all seemed the same, even the full-population servers.

With this expansion I just don't trust any of the current content creators; it seems pretty clear from the videos I am seeing done by everyone from Bellular to Preach that Blizz has embarked on a big PR campaign and put a lot of emphasis on recruiting content creators to spread their message. I'm glad they are having fun - I'm not such a grinch that I'd want to deny that to anyone. But this flood of "DF is great" videos are all starting to sound alike. @@CazaliEiben That's how I've "enjoyed" WoW the most for the last 3-4 years: being a serious lore and story nerd, I could rely on Bellular, PlatinumWoW, and Nobbel to keep me up to date on the things I cared about, since the game itself has been such a let down. I don't raid anymore because I enjoy raiding with friends and all my friends have quit WoW for other games (me, included). I don't care for M+. And there's really nothing that different to PvP to interest me that hasn't already been there for years, if not decades. There's no daily reputation quests, really, like the Argent Tournament. And there's not even really dailies anymore, or even World Quests, since World Quests are demi-weekly instead of updated two or three times a day. If you're a casual solo player or just play with a couple of friends, you can exhaust an entire week's worth of content in 2-3 hours. That's including world quests, the weekly rep quest, and the weekly dungeon quests, too.
