And added to all that, he's attempting to notify the jury that they have the power to nullify and ultimately set him free.. and in doing so, he's expecting the jury to basically unanimously decide that murder should not be illegal.. smh. I swear, this manchild is the dumbest mf I've ever seen in a courtroom. We had a TV show here in the UK years ago called embarrassing bodies. It got people to see a doctor over an issue that many people might have, get a diagnosis, but will have felt embarrassed about. I always remember one of the doctors saying "if you have something embarrassing to you, it isn't the first time a doctor has seen it, we have always seen worse".
I imagine having had the jobs that judge Dorrow has had and the cases she has worked on, that she has seen horrible incidents before, not on this scale, but I assume she has seen this sort of thing before.
She did get visibly upset during her own sentencing remarks when talking about the victims, their families etc. For those unfamiliar with the sentencing of this case, judge Dorrow named the sentence and for which person it related to. He was sentenced to 6 life sentences without parole, plus over 1 thousand years in added time for the lesser charges.

Exactly true. During his sentencing witness statement….. he remembers his grandmother saying she wished that he had apologized to the victims and their families for what he had done. So when it came time for his 2 hour statement in which he spoke mostly about the life of Jesus and painting himself and his family as the victims……then when it came time to give his apology….. this is what he stated:
      “I’m sorry that this happened.”
Seriously? That was your apology to Jackson Sparks mother?. Listen dude……everyone outside of the city of Waukesha were sorry this happened…..just as we are sorry that 9-11 happened or that the Las Vegas massive shooting happened……but we were not the ones who committed those crimes. We don’t need to apologize for them.
Your apology should of been worded…..I’m sorry for what I did….. I am sorry I ran through this parade killing and injuring people.
This more than anything was a strong indication that he didn’t care what he did. He takes no responsibility for his actions and since he brought up the recall and Ford motor company, he thinks they are responsible for this crime…… not him

Attorney Sue Opper was astounding throughout this trial but her closing speech was simply phenomenal. She laid it all out on the line, fact by fact and Brookes despised every second that he was forced to listen to every word. His hatred for Ms Opper was so apparent throughout, he despised her, he knew he could not break her and he hated that fact. I found her closing to be one of the most brilliant ever. She is such a strong attorney and worth her weight in gold. Congratulations to her for getting her final say on this disgusting, lying, revolting piece of scum who showed absolutely no respect to anyone, let alone the victims and made a mockery of the Court, Judges, Prosecution but above all showed himself to be a total idiot. Thank God for Judge Dorrow also, who was a tower of strength throughout the trial, having to put up with his ridiculous, rude, disrespectful rantings was not easy, but she handled him so well with dignity and even respect even though he did not deserve it. I can't think of any other criminal that I despise as much as him, he was unbearable to watch. I would argue that telling the jury over and over that they have the right to nullify the jury could be considered threatening the jury. If you've reached the point that your primary defense is telling the jury over and over that they have the right to either choose to be there and to find you guilty, or the opportunity to walk away, then you are giving a veiled threat.
At the end of the day his closing argument quite literally comes down to "I didn't do it but I refuse to offer any facts, evidence, or arguments to defend myself. That said, you should forgive me for doing the thing I didn't do and walk away because it's in your power to do so."
As for the only little bit of a defense he offered, the vehicle malfunction. Sure doesn't seem like he made any effort at all to avoid the people he ran over. If I had to choose between running over a parade of people or crashing my car when it malfunctioned, I'd crash the car. I think any even slightly decent person would.

Usually the narcissist is extremely adept at hiding his inner landscape, the toxicity of his inner world, the evil within the twisted mind. Narcissists are experts at HIDING all of that, they wear a fake outer mask and try to appear like normal, but they are not. I fully support people in his situation acting as their own attorney when they demand that, because in these situations (there have been several), in these situations the narcissist becomes exposed and as the narcissist becomes increasingly desperate, we see more and more clearly the emergence and public display of the illness which lies within. If you are studying narcissism or psychology, I think it is a good idea to study his behavior here. The narcissist will only rarely display the ugly truth of his inner world, the landscape of his mind. But in this situation which calls for application of skills that one could only posses if one is a mature adult, we see him drowning because he simply never matured. This is what arrested development looks like. This is what it looks like when we fail to mature, mentally and emotionally.

Sorry excuse for a man. God let him mow down people. WTF! I hope the jury does what's right and find him guilty on all counts. Judge, you are great and patient. I was a bailiff for 5 years. My judge would have lost it after 5 minutes.

Opper is tough as nails, and that’s why he hates her. I love the way she stares him down like if she wasn’t in that suit and doing her job, she would knock his block off. Technically she did, just with the law instead of fists.

Can you imagine having to look at all the horrible things this pos did during this trial. The response the court room displayed watching that “snip it” video was heart wrenching. I hope this man rots in his cell.

DB is back in court in February 2024.
It is a case involving Erika Patterson. DB ran over her foot with the SUV.
He does have a state attorney however DB is representing himself.

@@janewaterfield648From what I've been hearing that they won't allow him to defend himself. They pushed the trial back to sometime in May. I would drop the charges and wouldn't give him the satisfaction of seeing me in court. That would literally drive him nuts
