Great video and very informative, especially the detail about the top of the flue having the most build up..... Thank you for sharing,,,
Glad it was helpful!
I always trust a guy who wears suspenders, the same way I do. That's a man who knows how to 'git 'er done'. Great tutorial video. Thanks.
Great video Scot. You can always attach a roof anchor to the very peak of your roof so you always have a connection point. You can use that anchor point for different purposes around in on top of your roof. Even if you're using a ladder to work on your eaves if you use a system like Scott you have to make sure your rope diameter is correct. Not all rope is equal. Safety is not always cool it is necessary.
I like that chimney kit. They work well. I have something similar for a dryer vent. I felt for you when the cap fell off the roof. Bummer!
Excellent info. Thank you!
Ordering mine today ! Can’t wait !
Very cool.
Great video!. You should extend ladder at least 3 feet above roof edge, so you can hold on while getting off or on. Also, someone around in case you fall.
So my wife was down below to catch me if I fell....LOL... And 3 ft is a great suggestion... I think it was only 2 ft... Kinda hard to climb over 3 ft but I hear ya! Thx for watching!
Good video. Living off-grid in Canada, I agree with your comments. Where we live all we burn is Pine and Fir. I clean our chimney each spring and each spring our creosote is pretty minimal. Using good dry seasoned wood and running a hot fire is key. :)
Absolutely!! Thx for watching!
Thanks for the info
Living Libby MT so definitely going to be saving the money and doing that myself
Make sure the stove pipe is oriented male end down. I have to say it because to some people that is not common sense.
I've been burning the wood as my sole source of heat for the last 40 years. My wood stove burns 24 hours a day 7 days a week for at least 8 months a year. I use a wire brush type brush for my 6" pipe My fiberglass rods are 5' in length and they thread together. I have to clean my pipe every 2-3 months. I unfortunately Have to ream my pipe out from the bottom up. It's no joke you have to keep up on it 1 of my neighbors burn their house to the ground month ago
I’m hiring that job out. The older I get the closer to the ground I like to stay.
It's only 10ft up old man
Lol... yeah I hear ya
What don’t you know how to do! Great video, pretty cool stuff!
The way that yellow jacket likes you, you must be sweet. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
How are the yellowjackets down south? Ours aren't half as bad as last year...
@@HiddenValleyHomestead yellowjackets, paper wasps, and such haven't been too at all. I have a feeling that next year they will be bad again.
Can you post the link for your kit you are using? Since we're weekenders we've never had enough build up over the years to clean. But now that we're coming up on year for I think we definitely need to get it done.
Dang it! You beat me to it! I'm working on that right now! Stand by!
There you go! Link in the description!!!!
👍👍👍
Respiratory protection.
Like everything else... it's impossible to get the chimney sweep to come out! I've been on a waiting list for 2 years now. I finally just did it myself. BTW... you can pick up safety ropes/equipment used for rock climbing super cheep.
Showing how to take the cap off would’ve been great
I have the same tool, but send mine up through the wood stove. You don’t have to get on the roof if you don’t want to.
Yes sir very true. But then you have to deal with the creosote ash plume falling back in your face! Unless you got a good shop vac!! Thx for watchin!
@@HiddenValleyHomestead10:18 ash plume to the face.
First
GEEZ Gil... I Literally JUST hit "PUBLIC" !!!! LOL
@@HiddenValleyHomestead This was the fastest notification that I have gotten in weeks
I uploaded last night cuz Starlink upload speeds take a bit... and I'm usually going to bed so I come back in the morning to finish the vids and add a thumbnail and whatnot. I'm not joking. I had just hit public from private and clicked SAVE... It was only like 3 sec! So funny. I guess that makes you a superfan!! HA!
there a easyer way burn spud pealings and your not get soot
Uh yeah don't think so there...LOL... Not gonna heat a 2100 square foot log home with spud pealings
Safety sally. Meet safety Sam. Good grief. Don’t bother with this video. 13 minute video. 2 minutes of actual pipe cleaning with no real relevant details.
WAAAAAAAA.... Lol... 🤣🤣🤣
