I know some of you are curious about the build quality, which I intend to touch in in the follow up video. It is by the way a mixture of stainless steel, aluminum, and ABS plastic.
But, what other questions to you have? Write them here, please.
Edit: the dimensions are 375mm wide, 375mm deep, and 320mm tall (without the screen). Considering the screen, it is about 420 mm tall. The machine weighs 15 kg.
Would you be able to share the machine's physical dimensions? Can't find info on this anywhere.

"It's a little bit flacid, it doesn't wanna stay up all the time." That was #2.
Tom's setting himself up for a TCC Edits channel to pop up!
Don't forget near the end he mentioned..."It's a little bit flacid. It doesn't want to stay up all the time". Tom is killing me saying these things with a strait face. 🤣
I’m pretty wary of a new brand I’ve never heard of, but I’m glad someone is attempting to innovate. All of the established European espresso machine companies are asleep at the wheel. Love the built in brew scale that enables stopping the brew at the desired output automatically, and love that it has a rotary pump. You shouldn’t have to buy $3000+ machines to get these features.
I have never been more excited to get an espresso machine! Thank you for this wonderful review
The portafilter handle looked cheap and much better with the black handle to match. Nice video Tom.👍

The Machine has potential to revolutionize coffee making for people who would not know how to make coffee like a barista, this point alone sold me to get it!
If they adjust the faults it has as you pointed, they will get me sold to buy it, otherwise wait for their next future release of this wonderful machine
Yes, I concur. It's a pretty sweet machine. I am really enjoying the dual scale features, and I wish this was installed on every machine.
Mine is a pre-production model, so I am thinking that they will iron out the remaining issues before launching the series product.
I bought barista express impress instead of touch for exactly opposite reason, to be able to have more control, plus all these touchy screeny cannot replace good old push button feel. Thanks to Tom's videos I can now make pretty decent coffee myself. This machine to me is overpriced and gimmicky but sure it will have own audience
At the full MSRP of $1,800 it might be a hard sell. If they kept the price at $999 it would take over that market segment. Personally, I have had bad experience with "electronics" and would want to see how the sensors and electronic processors hold up to daily use over time.
100% Agreed! A truly ridiculous price. Man, there's not a single thing worth that price at all.
I agree, it' seems a decent machine but not a $2000 machine. I suppose after it doesn't sell, they'll be to be had for around $1200 in a year or so. Even that is the absolute most I'd pay for it.
@@MrRespectable-gw2xd There are an infinite number of "brands" like that. I like the Meraki, really nice shape, looks great. But I am a not a barista and I don't make milk drinks. I use my Gaggia Classic Pro to make 'longs'. I weighed the beans and product once or twice. I use about 16 grams to yield about 90 grams. After that I just eyeball it. I did the dimmer mod. I like the slight variations and 'fidgeting' with it, have no want for pid or any of that. Still, fun to watch on YT
You guys need to get with it! $1800 is not a bad price for what this is. Cross shop and see what you get!
@@gosman949 DOA, let it go to the hell!
0 value, it may look nice and neat to make little clips on social media for those suffering from compulsive mental illnesses, but this product literally offers nothing revolutionary for the price they are asking. A product without value is like a country without an army.
It would be great if they got rid of the grinder and focused their resources on developing only the machine at a price point under $999.
Just tell me one reason that justifies this price? Nothing! You can literally get everything this product has to offer for less money and perhaps even better build quality and electronics.
Great video,Tom!
I'm already a sucker for this machine, its so cool.
Obviously a bottomless portafilter is a must, also I dont like that steam wand being so wonky. Hopefully it can be tightened or something.
Not a big fan of all that extra junk on the drip tray, some things need to stay simple.
Looking forward to a deep dive, Tom! Lets see what makes it tick.
Cheers!
Excellent review once again, Tom. Keep it up!
I think this machine is innovative and I would love one!
I wonder why the RFid didn’t recommend a grind size?
I had the same thought, seems like an odd choice to not have it recommend a grind setting.
Hey Robert, the RFID did recommend the grind size. Tom did not show it though 😄
@@MerakiTechGlobal hi, the pricing tom mentioned, is that the total price during for early bird? ?
Interesting machine, I like the idea of a rotary pump because then you can connect it to the plumbing. Personally I would probably still go for the Decent if i wanted something high tech, but I can imagine this having a market.
I kept getting ads from them and I thought it was too good to be true.
Thanks for the detailed presentation
Brilliant review. Loved the changes of hairstyle.
wow no annoying clicking sounds, a nice steamer with integrated thermometer, Timemore conical burr grinder with dosing scale to measure output. Feature wise very nice. Seems like they know coffee.
I am not a fan of spinny levelers like that, and have no need for an anti-static device on my grinders.
I have my own methods for all of that, but that is a whole different story.
I do kind of like the anti-static technology, but yes I have never owned a lever. I prefer WDT for distribution. The machine does have very nice features. I will be curious to see if it takes off. Cheers!
Machine is said to weigh in at 30 kilograms, hard to imagine that is true.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner I think I would be way happier with this machine than many others I've looked at, if it was just features.
As an aside, WDT when done right can be kinda OK. For me, I can see what every puck extraction I do has achieved and
how well a WDT tool worked. The best WDT I have achieved that does give an even ground distribution with little fines settling at the bottom is with the Bomber spinny needles followed by briefly using the same company's regular WDT tool with the needles on their widest setting. Will refrain from explaining why as this is already too long.
@@SunriseLAW Maybe it has great boilers.
I’ll stay with my ECP 3420
Hey Tom!
Thanks once again for your amazing reviews, you're a great help!
As I am about to purchase my first espresso machine aswell, I'd like to ask for your advice.
The options I've come up with so far are:
- Eureka Mignon Specialita + DeLonghi Dedica Maestro Plus
- Eureka + Rancilio Silvia
- All-in-one solutions like DeLonghi LaSpecialista Maestro
- This all new Meraki
If one is a clear winner or you have an even better suggestion for me, I'd greatly appreciate your support!
I think it's quite expensive. You could probably get a better grinder and espresso machine combo for cheaper, but given that they have designed it nicely, and have that nice steam wand, and scale, and easy to use screen, I'd say it's priced about right. But if they don't fix the handle and the flaccid steam wand and the tiny back button, I'd say I wouldn't buy it for myself. Maybe version 2.
Omg,i was just about to ask you if u could do a teview of this new machine, and there it is,thank you!
The concept of this machine, design, and the fact it is dual boiler with rotary pump is mouth drooling.
but, let's be honest, How will they tackle serviceability? parts availability? Cause such machines are meant to be used for 10+ years. Some have been working for more.
Hope it works out for them. Interesting machine design, specs, and price. For me a built in grinder is a no go. Best luck to them.
Interesting to see this Chinese brand using a classic Turkish expression „merak“ 🇹🇷 it means curiosity, love and passion for something.
We know the first way of brewing coffee as a warm drink is Turkish Coffee 🇹🇷and the first coffee houses in world history were established in Türkiye (Turkey) 🇹🇷during Turkish Ottoman Empire🇹🇷- so there’s a connection from the past to modern times in terms of branding.
Nice video thank you !
How does the auto-steam mode compare with the Breville Barista Touch Impress?
Way better. Here's an example: ruclips.net/video/n4P-8fCj3k8/видео.html
If the price is USD 999, then it is reasonable. It looks all plastic. Because you can buy dual boiler 2.4L commercial rotatry pump with saturated head 33kg around USD 1000. Or you can go with a better one(around usd 1800-2000 )and it has saturated head + gear pump, and with a large display / a lot of profile settings (same as decent)
@@iuanders448 Which machines are you talking about for those prices? I’ve never seen them.
Seems super cool! Great video Tom 😎☕️👍🏽
Unknown brand and high price, what could go wrong.
Thank you for the review. Do you know if the grinder can grind for other coffee types like pour over, or espresso only?
That smaller top drip tray looks really wobbly/fiddly and that grinder looks even smaller than the cone burr on my old barista express.
That said, having a scale for both and a built in steam thermometer already elevates this quite a bit.
One thing (that I might have missed), is it a 58mm portafilter? Given how shoddy that plastic was, that'd be my first upgrade to it.
It's 58mm, yes. The drip tray on the scale has little knobs that fit into grooves. I had it misplaced during part of the video.
I must say that I do love having two scales, so I don't have to move and tare my own scale.
any hope to manual operation of grinder as fallback to touchscreen?
@@aj0413_ I don’t think so, not with this model anyway.
One Espresso Dream Machine this Year🙏☕️☕️🙏😊❤
Really love when you review does quirky espresso machines!
Hope you will do the HiBrew H10B in the future, it's a direct competitor to the De'Longhi Dedica, the old one do to the size.
Does the unit they sent you have the manual brew mode with pre-infusion and what else is in manual brew mode? Or is that just the switch (dial?) below the screen and does the infusion pressure change depending how far you turn it?
No, that’s just an on/off switch. There is no flow control on this model, nor is there a pressure display.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner Ok, thank you. They said you can use manual mode to perform preinfusion, so will be interesting to see how they implement it on the production model.
Edit: Meraki has walked back that statement, it is now pre-infusion: not for this model.
As always a nice video
Some of the footage makes me think about the durability. And why do you have to enter date/time? It should know from timezone/WiFi. Can you adjust the color and lay-out of the screen? I like the design however plastic seems not the best quality.
I read that Meraki continues to improve the machine, replacing plastic with metal, etc.
Date and time is for waking the machine up in the morning. I guess wifi is for adding profiles in the future. There is no need to create an account or download an app.
IMO too many accessories at the expense of quality. The casing should be made of metal at this price. Is there a pressure gauge? I think that knowing the pressure is more important than the extraction time.
I really like the scale option in this espresso machine. It's something I would like to have eventually.
The beans are probably too fresh as well!
awesome machine so cool. with the rfid chip does it sugest the grind size as well. better handle tighte the steam wand a little so cool.
$1,800 is way too much for this kitchen appliance-looking machine!
A good one, thanks, Tom.
I just wondered about the grinding size as you need to try and error many times until you get the proper size. Then what's the benefit of having the RFID feature then? I was under the impression that once you scan the code, it should load the pre-set configuration, including the grinding size, isn't it?!
Not sure l like the contours of this machine but it sure stands out. 😊
Great review, thanks. Do you feel like the build materials are too cheap? I mean does the machine feel cheap because of all that plastic? Thanks
Good review! Stylish black design!
Once grinded too fine for my delonghi dedica arte, for few seconds nothing came out and was building pressure noise... portafilter unscrewed and smashed glass with big force.
Yeah, portafilter sneeze can be brutal in what you have to deal with.
That's why more expensive machines tend to have a 3-way valve with it's own set of cons.
Rest in pieces for that glass, hope it wasn't too expensive... :/
Oh crap! That only ever happened to me once, but with a cheap aftermarket PF.
Unknown brand from China for the price of Sage Dual Boiler + Smart Grinder Pro? For 999, there is a small chance people would consider this over well known "the Barista Touch" for simplified workflow and probably more stable temperature(questionable at the moment), but at a price point of Dual Boiler, for me Dual Boiler would be an obvious choice.
Dual Boiler is a sweet machine, I agree.
Only 30 clicks for the grind setting? Seems like very course dialing. What is your thoughts on this?
Honestly, you’re better off buying a nice HX for the price.
I question the software update, plastic housing, flimsy steam wand and price lol
@@9sric To each, his own.
Great video. Glad you are trying it out. But Wow. It broke in first 2 hours. Unbelievable.
Thanks for your great review... but I'll stick with my mainstream Breville, for now.
I fear a mixture of cheap and elegant.
Really cool machine as I was thinking of getting Timemore 078S and pair it with Ascaso UNO PID. Meraki is co-engineering with Timemore after all.
Though I must ask, how long does it take to heat up the machine after starting it?
Reason why I'm asking is because Ascaso UNO PID uses Thermocoil heating and not boiler, which makes it able to make an espresso as soon as I start the machine.
This takes about 2-3 minutes to get up to temp for brew and steam boilers.
at 10:10 that is a pure Chinese gadgets, authentic experience there :)
That was a bummer, yes.
you know my thought is that at 1700 MSRP its fine, i mean it literally comes with everything....except a WDT ...... as you mentioend.........so I mean no other solution is out there near that when considering dual boiler, dual scales, pitcher, ...... and a grinder that can grind too fine..........BUT and its a biggie, the plastic is something that helped them price wise and my thought is that if you worked on this machine you would enjoy it ..... its the new design thing....a bit cold and uninviting, touch screens et.c, and all is well, but then if you turned around to a more traditional layout......rocket and mazzer or whatever, you will immediately notice the quality of the system from the outside.....and you know a big part of coffee making is the whole thing end to end......and I think the plastic nature of things will work against them...........love how heavy it was too....btw.....it did not move when you locked in the PF.
Interesting machine but i'm instantly put out by the touch screen, the whole machine will become a brick as soon as it dies. Maybe a good feedback to them is to make a cheaper version without wifi and with physical buttons.
Well, I mean you need a control unit...all machines have some kind of electronics. Cheers!
@@TomsCoffeeCorner sure but even if we assume the device would last it’s warranty and suddenly that single piece stops functioning, there is no repairability to it by the user and it just becomes a €1700 electronic waste, while a physical button, switch would be a more simple fix. An even better solution, for this high end version, would be for them to make this piece replaceable by using a contact system that allows to easily swap it with a new acquired part from their store.
Hello Tom, follow your videos - i realise this was a teaser video but that was not one of your best - pretty chaotic - but hope you do a more in-depth one.
There is much discussion about this machine in the Meraki group at moment and your video helped me make up my mind for KS.
I dont know if you will comment on this post about what you feel about the build quality being plastic.
At this price point i want to understand if it feels like a good quality plastic.
At this price point we are used to big brand names and mixture of high impact ABS quality plastics and metal.
Which its very hard to tell from the video.
Also can you do any comment on pressure settings/valves if you found any ?
What did you find chaotic? As for plastics, I am not a plastics expert. But it seems solid enough. Just the wobbly switches are a little annoying. But the build itself feels solid to me. The thing weighs 14.8 kg, or 33 pounds. I'd suggest checking their website for some cross-sections, to see how it's built.
No pressure or water flow settings. Cheers!
How will the machine be sold after the early bird period, which channels, Amazon other retailers or will it only be available through their website?
Good luck getting anything like a warranty on a Chinese sold machine!
@merakitechglobal can you respond to this?
Surprised no one mentioned Decent.
Well, this one cannot do flow-profiling like the Decent, so there's really no comparison there.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner interesting... I'll be sticking with my GCP Gadguino setup
Can you pull a shot and steam at the same time?
Thanks for the review, always like your videos!
Looking forward to the non teaser video, I will be curious what your opinion of the machine is overall. Also, your thoughts on this at preorder price vs Breville Barista Express Impress
Edit: You can pull a shot and steam at the same time. It specifically says that they each have a dedicated boiler and shows both running in the official video.
Yes, being a dual boiler you can steam and pull espresso at the same time. Maybe I'll upload a workflow video.
pull a shot and steam at the same time is completely pointless in a home environment, I've had machines where it was possible to pull a shot and steam at the same time, I did it once just to test and never again, there's no need to stress to earn 10 seconds.
I thought I saw photos of it with a bottomless portafilter
Great overview! I’m a bit surprised/disappointed that you had to essentially manually dial in the beans despite having the fancy RFID sticker on the bag… my expectation would have been for the machine to auto-load and adjust the grind setting for you, so all you have to do, essentially is to scan the bag, pour it into the hopper, hit grind, transfer to portafilter, puck prep, lock in, hit brew and you’re done. Shot timing, water temp, pressure/flow (if the machine can control these) should all come preloaded from the bag RFID chip. Otherwise this is just a gimmick…
Second is the idea of dual boiler… can you pull a shot and steam at the same time? If not, then the added maintenance and energy inefficiency of a dual boiler setup may not be worth it.
Honestly, given the price point of this machine, I’d much rather go with the new Breville Oracle Jet than this plasticky thing…
Not impressed, TBH.
It's trying (and failing) to be the xBloom of espresso
Well, I'll be honest. I started grinding on the finest end of the scale, because my contact at Meraki said that the grinders were set a little too coarse. But that was not the case, as I ended up right around the middle of the grinding range. Anyway, I am not sure the Oracle Jet is going to be a dual boiler. If I remember right, they use the second ThermoJet for heating the brew group.
RFID for to set grind settings doesn't make sense as they're are too many variables. Age of the beans, humidity etc. Temperature maybe. Perhaps it already does that?
@@mhaagmans1 The xBloom managed it, although I can definitely understand how it should be much harder to translate to espresso. I think the entire thing is a gimmick and they should've skipped it if they couldn't make it work
@@Andril190 I agree - it seems gimmicky to me. Also @mhaagmans1 raises a good point in an earlier comment regarding the variables involved in espresso extraction and encoding the grind size on the RFID chip. Having said this, I still think the machine could at least include a grinder range (given that all Meraki grinders are the same), and maybe auto-set the grinder somewhere in the middle of said range to at least get you started on the dial-in process.
Is there a support network? How would a broken machine be repaired?
@merakiglobaltech ?
We will only sell to selected countries where we will have local service center to address all after-sales support
interesting concept but the all plastic housing would be nothing for me. I am also sceptical about build in scales, nice idea but i prefer to keep it simple because of a defect. Same counts for the grinder, i am not a fan of the everything build into one machine concept.
What will be the price of this beauty?
He mentioned that at 23:25
It will be 3 price stages in the kickstarter phase
1099, 1199, 1299 then 1799 I believe
starting around 23:30 that is discussed in detail.
This literally seems like you need to 2000% wait for version 2.0 for them to work out all the kinks and price it way more competatively
Well, they are already taking feedback into consideration for the next batch of machines, before they are being sold.
A wonderful revview, a very impressive machine. Do you have a review of smeg EGF03BLEU machine I'll love to know your impression. Thank you

This looks like its made to comptete with the Oracle touch. So half the price makes sense. Seams a bit cheaply built though. I wouldnt mind paying around 2300 for it to be built to last
Interesting. Does the RFID scan only display the bean name and tasting notes - or does it also setup the brew temp?
Hello, It will show the suggested parameters like grind size, grind weigt, temperature, etc. 😃
Whats the start up time? How about 3 cups consecutive. Warranties?
Start up time is 2-3 minutes. I think I read somewhere online it's going to be a 2 year warranty.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner wow! that is fast! will wait for your full review
great all in one but its expensive
Not expensive for dual boiler and rotary pump, etc.
I hope more about the technical background in a full review
The MSRP is steep, but dual boilers are notoriously expensive. See the Breville Dual Boiler at $1,599.
So scanning a coffee's barcode does not recommend/set a grind level?
It does, but only once you start changing the grinding setting. Then you see an indication of where the grind should go.
Thanks for the teaser, machine seems to be pretty interesting! ^^
But I am kinda worried about network security/privacy since it is a machine that uses WiFi.
Is it requiring you to do WiFi or is it just an optional thing for stuff like software updates or recepies via an app/web-app?
Cuz this may break the deal for a lot of people... Including me, tho I am not interested in the first place outside of seeing how the market is changing.
I'd ask Meraki to answer this one. I don't think you need it connected to Wifi. It's probably for adding bean profiles, I'm guessing.
@MerakiTechGlobal can you answer this?
Hi Technicellie, Thanks for your interest. Yes you are right WiFi is optional for software update and expanding roaster's choice recepies. Meraki espresso machine functions can perform the same when it is not connected to WiFi.
Nice pricing but in what currency did you call these?
That's US dollars. Cheers!
Is it 58mm? Compatible with other portafilters?

Thats noisy grinder will annoy my wife and will disapprove Meraki
I'd say it's about average for a grinder. My mic is pretty sensitive.
PROS
1) Tamper
2) Distributor
3) Tamping Station
4) Screen
5) Jug
6) Steamer
7) Electronics
8) Dual boiler
9) Scales
CONS
TBD but possibly the water tank/filter due to design of unit
Not too many cons so this is a hopeful product that differentiates itself based on improved quality of most used components
You're forgetting that the plastic exterior covers pretty much the entire machine including the most common touch points. I think it's missing the finish and build quality, as noted by the broken portafilter after 1st use in this video.
@@user-oe1nt4pp8n thanks!
Giving an honest opinion, the noisy of the machine is not great, it looks flimsy and not durable
For 1799 USD, this machine will run against the likes of Oracle Jet from Breville, which does not feel like a cheap machine.
Also how did you manage to keep your hands under the steam wand ? It should be hot enough to burn your skin.
It competes with the original Breville Oracle with dual boilers because it is a dual boiler machine and similarly priced. This machine has a cool touch steam wand, which means the steam wand is dual insulated and therefore stays warm during and after use, something that's usually reserved on expensive espresso machines like the La Marzoccos linea Micra or Lelit Bianca for example.
@@user-oe1nt4pp8n I have a LM Micra. The wand shown here is honestly bad, simply coz it is flimsy. Also steam pressure does not look great.
The oracle will auto steam your milk to greatness and it is double insulated too. It is a fantastic machine and if they want to compete against it, they need to be careful about quality
Idk, I can hold my hand under most machine's steam. Maybe not a gastronomy machine.
Meraki (pronounced may-rah-key) is derived from Greek language, and literally means the “essence of yourself.”
No modern Greece took the word from the original Turkish 🇹🇷 word „merak“ (means the same) in times of the Turkish Ottoman Empire.
It’s a Chinese brand and there are some coffee brands with this name. Has nothing to do with greece
@@goodlife2144 Which empire existed before the Ottoman Empire? Is not about a history lesson. Enjoy your coffee!
@@Savvassko95 there were hundreds or thousands of empires which existed in human history. But obviously you mean the Roman Empire which has nothing to do with your country Modern Greece and our subject here. 😅
@@Savvassko95 btw you have also a Turkish name „savaş” 😉😉
@@goodlife2144 Savvas is the Greek name - Savas is the turkish name. Sava is the Serbian name.
When you’re done with the machine, do you sell it?😭 asking for a friend lol
Oh gosh, we'll have to see.
Do you know if the inside of the boilers are stainless steel?
I believe 350ml and 550ml stainless, for brew and steam boilers.
Hi Tom, great video, and this is the second tike that I'm asking to please do a video about the hibrew h7a dual boiler
So many espresso machines, so little time. :)
@SunriseLAW the thing is that he got time to do a review on the hibrew h10a but didn't do one on the h7a which is the company's best machine
Hopefully at some point. I've had so many projects lately. Cheers!
You tried to be as neutral as possible, but what I believe is that the videos you make must be in your honest opinion.
Personally, I believe the product looks flimsy, and for the cost, we can get a proper machine. This looks like an appliance. Fancy bells and whistles doesn't say anything. Show us the build quality inside, which I'm a 100% that it doesn't have.
I wish well for your channel. Hope it goes to become an honest, reliable, and neat channel.
Lol, it seems everyone's perception in life is different. I did give my honest opinion of the machine, as I got to know it over the short course of the video. I showed the wobbly brew switch, the floppy steam wand, and I didn't cut out the weird start up sound it made, and I had to use a Normcore handle to finish the demo, which I also didn't hide.
In the end, it's a neat product, that isn't wholly finished.
@TomsCoffeeCorner That about sums it up right. Felt like you downplayed a bit in the video. Could be just me. Nevertheless looking forward for more content. Thank you
