They should disallow smart phones but allow flip phones
What makes it scary is that teachers and schools are no longer disciplining bad behavior. All because of parents.
I am a teacher: we are not allowed to. The schools are afraid of being sued.
Sounds like there may have been a lack of emergency training if students were piling up on top of each other in the corner.
To the young Lady who said there is no safety. Well hats off to you. You are absolutely correct by a long shot. God Bless you and yours, and stay safe.
This is what happens when you put rights and liberties over regulations and duties.
It's all 4 all the time.
Watch how fast the good people of Georgia put their personal rights and liberties over regulations and duties.
Actions always speak louder than words.
Only an adult can purchase an AR-15, who gave the kid the AR-15?
Your funny if you think a kid cant get his hands on a AR-15. A gun store isn’t the only way to get a gun.
@@BleuBelairand so much easier to get his daddy's AR-15, which he did because it was easier.

Interview after interview I always tear up every time. I feel so bad for these students. The community, the state of Georgia and this country. Students and teachers shouldn't have to worry about this. It's so messed up. No 14-year-old or any kid should have possession of a gun. There has to be a change
What change do you propose?
@@adamschrader328 In Georgia, the permitless carry legislation passed in 2022 allows individuals to carry guns without a permit. This law is seen by some as needing revision, particularly because it does not include safe storage regulations. Additionally, there is a call for parental accountability. If a child is experiencing bullying or other issues, it is crucial for parents to provide support and seek assistance for them. The ability of a child to obtain a gun may indicate a lack of parental responsibility.
@@yunglad.kris1 oh please there is no law that would stop sick minded criminals.

These Media keep retraumatizing these children. They need to focus on the real victims. Celebrating the lives of the children who were murdered. And informing public about shooter and that he made threats a year ago & was still allowed in school.
I would Never Go Back.
how can you expect these kids to get back to school and pretend it didnt happen.
The resource officer is the one person who stopped the shooter
Still, 2 people we're killed and multiple wounded.
@thxjsxari could you imagine how many more would have died if no resource offers or drills
@@ketotamz5815 Yes, they did protect a lot of people, but there were still people killed so it’s not enough.
@@ketotamz5815can you imagine how it would’ve never happened if this country actually passed laws and institutions into place to prevent these things from happening instead of just continuing to hope and pray that these shootings stop
@chrisbuiles1252 good luck because the 2nd amendment in our constitution. If you go back years, schools shootings have always happened in an election year. How about the 4 that were killed last weekend in Chicago? Not a peep
Typical day in USA. Just ridiculous. Rights over lives…..complete madness. 🙄
Kid told what he was going to do last year…
During an active shooting situation you should never “just follow orders”. Do whatever you have to do to get outside and run! The school is just trying to protect themselves by keeping a count and the police in Texas showed you how much of a crap they give about you. GET OUT by any means necessary and go to the nearest neighbor, gas station, restaurant or whatever and use someone’s phone. You are more productive alive than huddled in a classroom like a group of sitting ducks.
Yeah why not go out the window .if I was teacher I break the window to get my class out ..
This is getting ridiculous. How is a 14 year old getting access to guns? This has got to stop.😢
The day after this happened, an Elementary school student in my city had a gun in school. Another student found it and turned it in to a teacher or another staff member.
The gun didn’t have any ammo luckily but the fact that an Elementary school student had access to a gun is awful.
Idk much on that situation but I’m glad it’s not another shooting.
But it’s awful that school shootings are happening more often in recent years...
I want to add in that the school year after I graduated my city started a rule for public schools.
In classrooms students have to put their phones in a pocket chart.
My thought is, what if there was a shooting in my city? It would take a while for students to receive their phones to call their families and call 911.
Despite already graduating, my sister, my other family members, and their friends are still in school.
I graduated May, 2023 btw.
HOW DOSE AN ELEMENTARY STUDENT GET A GUN , THEY ARE STILL LEARNING HOW TO DIVIDE????
She’s right. You aren’t safe anywhere. Prayers for these kids.
Right sad but true
HOW DID HE WALK INTO THAT SCHOOL WITH THAT GUN??????????????????????????????
The Sheriff Said He hid it in his Backpack That Morning
This is what happens when you heard children like cattle in schools run like prisons, this also says alot about the family court system and how it allows broken families which has a severe detrimental effect on kids.
Yeah but itll get worse. I know that, because nobody cares to do anything about it.
Such a low standard for morality these days, no God, no reason, no logic ,no common sense teaching, today's standard are you identifying as whatever you want, obviously he identified as a murdering machine.
Check the student bag before enter in gate of school.
Check every student every time every student enters a room with a window that can be opened.

How are those knives working out for you?

But what did the students do to the shooter that caused him to snap????????? That's the missing story!
What is happening to our country? Lord God, we need You to heal our land.
This is really awful, somebody has to do something about these kids getting their hands on guns, how can anyone in America advocate a law that allows people to get their hands on guns so easily, God Bless those children and teachers who died and their families who will never get over this terrible tragedy that has come to their lives.
It's not as easy as you imply.
@marydevlin2829 It’s called common sense. Parents need to lock up their firearms in a safe of some sort when they leave the house and do back pack checks before their kids leave for school. It’s not that hard. Now let’s talk about why Illegally obtained firearms by gangs make up the majority of shootings and gun related deaths in this country.
What law are you talking about?
CALM DOWN, in the united states unless you are depressed or involved in criminal activity your chances of being involved in a gun 💀 are extremely low
over half of all gun deaths in the united states are self inflicted and the vast majority of the rest are either drug or gang related
Clarke County School District, which is the next county over from Barrow and where we live, has NO police presence whatsoever. It’s disappointing to know that the school district has no concern for our children and is treating this lightly.
Sadly, this is going to be a repetitive situation.
She's in shock. One day at a time.
Absolutely heartbreaking
The kid was on the FBI radar from last year ! HMMMMM
This was horrible. How much worse would it have been if the armed security officer had not been able to stop the murderer. Only one of the two presidential candidates vowed to disarm security officers in schools.
Safety doesnt work that just makes outside a bigger easier target just dont panic.. or move to a safe school
Congrats, America, land of the free, born unsafe.
The tragedy of seeing this girl who appears to have grown older than her mother from this experience is insurmountable. The look in her eyes is what I saw in my father, who served during the Vietnam War...a look of having shell shock. She too had been under fire from weapons of war.

Children are NOT innocent angels!
This alpha generation is having a lot more trouble than my generation being born in 1983 as an early millennial. It was a lot more innocent 😇 in the mid nineties and columbine changed all that in April 1999 when I was age 15.
Sick and tired of these scenarios, interviewing witnesses and relatives of victims after the shooting.
Why not interview politicians after the shooting? They're the ones responsible for it so why not take their words first?
I am in tears at my kitchen table listening to this. This has to STOP! Where were this killers' parents, how they did not know!
What a dumb question to ask the student after the incident: "How are you feeling?" Journalist of the Year.
Not dumb it helps encourage people to discuss the situation
It's about showing compassion before the interview.
literally 😂 the original post clearly doesn’t understand how empathy works lol
It’s a gesture of care. What else is the interviewer supposed to say?
It's inappropriate to suggest that you know someone is feeling traumatized, it's better for the person you're speaking with to get the opportunity to define their own feelings. There's actually a social science behind this, it's called Motivational Interviewing.
Easy access to guns is the problem
Not surprised at all as these episodes are common in the U.S of A. Sadly.
The Today show had them go to the school at dawn to do the interview ? This is a sad situation and I hate the way the media uses people in pain . School shooting are the most horrible of all the crimes in the U.S . my kids are homeschooled because our schools are not safe .
