The windows surface pro x was build because I wanted the fastest hardware I can get that supports open source with these great screen I found to sell. I was shopping for screen for the razer phones 2. Love hunting for new x86 software.
I just got my Pro X this week, and, subsequently stumbled on your channel. Glad I did, because I discovered the issue with ARM verses 64bit Intel. So, I'm going to be patient and wait for the software guys & gals to catch up. In the meantime, I'm at least able to use office, Foxit and a few other programs. Also, after setting up, I quickly discovered the link to my Android. Very nice!
@@jasonlaughton7590 I haven't tried but I suspect not. (Because of the architecture) I just updated to Win11. Everything that I had on it still works. (I'll try later on with x64 software, but even then I'm not expert enough to know whether it's the architecture or the OS)

Thanks for the videos. I work on a Surface Studio and always have a Surface Book as well. I was going to buy an X as a lighter device and use it how you do with web apps and MS apps. Do you think I would regret not getting 16GB's? I noticed your RAM looks like its hitting 91% on a sitting machine. Thoughts?
I have 16 GB and runs great. I bought it recently on discount. Better go with more RAM. SSD you can always change later (I have 256GB SSD), but not RAM.
Ivan is correct, on my SPX the 16GB RAM is usually fully used up. As for apps, Edge Chrome PWAs replace most critical apps like banking, Uber, etc. The only truly missing app is Nebo, an excellent note-taking app.

Hi Sean: Is the Canary build different from the Edge Chromium build that is currently offered as a download from Microsoft? If yes, what are the differences. I downloaded the Edge Chrome onto new SP7 but one issue I have is it doesn’t allow changing profiles (establishing a new default profile), I have to switch every time I use. Any suggestions. That’s odd, why don’t they make something like iMessage that’s works seamlessly across all devices, no “hacks” needed, it is almost 2020 android is having same problem
they do have it users can choose from skype, whatsapp, wechat, messenger to accomplish what iMessage is doing when communicating with other iMessage users, i.e. blue bubble exchanges are simply making use of whatever devices data connection is versus requiring a cellular sms connection + cellular data for mms.

Anyone here who can recommend an app to download to have the messenger experience on surface pro X? Including video calls and dark mode settings.. My SP X doesn't support the messenger app itself.
Found an open box for $798. Not sure it’s worth it for me. I have a 2017 SP5. Setup was clean, I did have an issue installing iCloud. Most likely will take it back.
You should try TouchMe Gesture Stuido. It's on the MS store. It allows you to customize touch gestures for different Windows commands and other commands. It definitely makes tablet mode better.

Your Surface Pro X reviews are genuinely useful as you're actually using the product not just opening the box. I'm planning to upgrade my SP4 mostly because of abysmal battery life. Alex McCaffrey let’s be honest... The Surface Pro 7 is ugly compared to the Pro X. That’s why a lot of use wish the Pro X had Pro 7 internals. I walked away from the X because the app selection is horrible. Plus, even in this very video the X is referred to as “an experiment” device. Why would I pay X prices for an experiment that could/is failing?
@@trentgilliam5192 it would be a different device with an Intel CPU. No guarantee of LTE, it'll likely have fans to be this slim, its battery could be less. Its not the same product. Nor is it for the same market anyway. Intel is Do All, ARM is Mobile First. Not running Adobe Apps or Games doesn't make for a terrible app selection :-/. The fact you want more Desktop apps than Office, Email and a Browser doesn't mean others don't. Those are the main apps for thousands of users, especially business users who this is targeted to first. Selective with your watching? The same video makes a point of mentioning the Pro X, like Chromebooks before, has access to lots of apps. A Web Browser stopped being just an App years ago. It's the platform for thousands of apps people use daily. Watch again.
as did windows phone and when it got killed so did the oob windows 10 messages app that supported that relationship given it made use of a microsoft consumer account [msa] link no laptop/tablet and phone. i don't know when the android phone web app support [ messages.google.com/web/conversations ] came out its release history but it also supports the same thing.

of you got a galaxy Samsung flow is the OG and works better. it even allows extra security where you can unlock your computer with your phone

It's no longer a canary, or beta, but a full release. It will work just fine on the surface pro 8, and comes preinstalled.
