I just got one of these and it looks as though it was never used. I appreciate now knowing what it was meant to do. Thank you. Don’t need it ,so if you or someone is interested let me know as I will sell inexpensively to someone local to central Calif. Ray
I bought the Foley Book on how to setup the sharpener. I don't have a few of the parts to complete the chainsaw sharpener yet so I am unable to test the unit on an actual chain.
Somehow I missed your comment. I do have the directions for setting up the 1055 for sharpening chainsaw chains. I don't have all the parts and pieces for the chainsaw sharpener setup. I have the arm and the large wheels but I need the small guide wheel for the chain. I have a different sharpener that works well so I haven't made a new small wheel from bar stock. Sorry it took a year to reply. Sometimes RUclips just doesn't notify creators about comments on old videos.
I wish that mine had been my fathers. He took much better care of his tools. I don't think I'll need to do much painting. More paint removal. Whomever did this paint job used a rattle can and dosed the whole thing.
Bob Cartwright hi Bob I'm looking at a 1055 a fellow wants to sell cheap.but I can't find much info on it can you help? I just want to know what it's worth.and how hard it is to get parts for .any info will surely be appreciated. thanks
They are good machines but parts are getting hard to find. I wouldn't pay more than $200 Make sure it comes with the blade holder and saw tooth setting anvil.
The 10293 is still in the process of being rebuilt. I did make a video of using the 1045 which is an older version of this grinder/sharpener. You can find it here: ruclips.net/p/PLXlq5qGw1per1xwj2xXE3-VRg-Gyx_NUN
Here's a video of the 10452 gumming and sharpening a 31" buzz saw blade. The actual grinding starts at 9:31 but you may be interested in watching the lead in to the process... It is the 8th part of a series on an old buzz saw makeover. ruclips.net/video/06hJGTyCPqM/видео.html Hopefully Old Sneelock doesn't mind me hogging in on this thread....LOL
Eric Yeates I sharpened the blades for my wood chipper with the 1045. The 1045, 10293, and 1055 are all designed to sharpen knife edges with the left wheel, like the wood chipper, and circular saw blades with the right wheel.
I'm trying to sell one of these for an older gentleman. I believe his model # is 5055, or 5065. it looks just like yours. It's been in storage for 20 years and runs. What does something like that go for? Thanks!
Like hearing about the old tool and die days. Good background to be in almost a dead trade out here in Washington except Boeing in Seattle. Looking forward to the next chapter on the sparpener.
LOts of folks do a lot of stuff that the people with the wall hanging can't even start to comprehend, much less do. The big wrench is just waiting for something to do! Like the old saying "Don't force it, get a bigger hammer"! Waiting on the series Unc!
+Lewie McNeely I'm thinking about the plow for the 8N. It has a couple big nuts that adjust the pitch. Come spring I'll be dragging it out of the Tractor Garage tent.
+Thomas Coughran Thanks for the link Thomas. The guys will be able to follow along. I was lucky with this one. The Operators Manual and Parts List came with it.
sometimes your stories make the video for me. I enjoyed hearing about your past amd work experience. I worked in a non union shop for years in Grrocery. there was another chain in town that was union. I always felt we were treated better and we got along with our management, compared to the union shop. Who kmows if the union shop was not in town to provide competition, mayne we would have been treated worse. But they always treated is well.
+Matt Cooper We never know just how our life will spin out while we are living it. Borg Warner was a family I shared for 5 years. The business was set up as a test to see if a non union shop was more effective than a union shop as a prototype center. The plant lost money every year for the 5 years I worked there. The project was a success though. We were able to design and build new radiator projects in half the time and at considerably less cost than the Canadian plants. I'm not sure if we were a carrot or a stick in the hands of the company. We were definitely held up as an example.
I watched this video months ago, but just stopped by to rewatch it. There was a commentor that wanted to see a video of it operating....I posted a link to part 8 of my buzz saw remake where the 10452 is used to gum and sharpen and set the 31" blade. I figured that's be ok with you.
Picked up one of these at an estate sale for 35 bucks. It didn't come with any of the sharpening accessories but did come with 2 motors :). The grandson was making fun of the old man because he couldn't figure out why he had filled the kitchen drawers with 100s and 100s of drill bits.
tim master $35 is a deal. Even if all you do is use it as a bench grinder that's cheap. The accessories can be found on Ebay but they aren't cheap. In the bottom comment there is a link for the manual. Download it before you buy parts. There are variations between models and not everything fits. As far as the drillbits go, maybe he should have visited a bit more and he would know. Seems like he's complaining he didn't inherit enough while he gave away $100.00 grinders and is sitting on a keg full of quarters.
To a certain extent those were my thoughts as well. However, to be fair, the old man was something of a hoarder and basically had enough hand tools to fill a one car garage to knee height. I walked out of there with 2 5 gal buckets full of hand tools. An old 2 part craftsman box full.. 4 power tools and a couple gardening tools. I felt like I barely made a dent and this was apparently the second week they had the sale. I think they were just a little overwhelmed.

Glad I could help! In the last 15 years I have used mine about 4 times.
Good luck with selling the unit. They are great if you need one.
I have my fathers Foley 1055 sharpener. Have you or could do a video on setup and sharpening chain saw blades. Thank you. Larry Aspenleiter

I am in the process of restoring my fathers 1055 but it is getting a bit cold for painting out side.

Old Sneelock, we Sneelockites are drooling over the sharpener and looking forward to the fun and games in getting it to run as smooth as a nut.
+UK Tony THAT is a fact!
+UK Tony I used the other one I own when I sharpened the wood chipper blades.
See Tony, he snuck one in on you!
Shameless tease to get you to look for the Wood Chipper video. :-)
Uncouth as you are, we still love you!
Any idea where I could get an owners manual for the 10293? Google has not found me one yet.
Look at the manual for the Foley 1045. foleyfiler.blogspot.com/2013/01/foley-belsaw-manuals.html
Thanks for the link. I really didnt see any tool being used and Im still unsure what this tool is good for. No matter, thank you for trying.

I paid $75 for My last one. Depends on who is buying.

+paul harriss I worked as an engineer for a company that made molds for the plane fuselage ribs. It was a big job that took 30 or so men 6 months.

tim master My Mom got that way with baby dolls. Not to that extent, but she greatly enjoyed buying them.
I have some items to unload too.
