Thank you for these! Just FYI, intarsia in the round (Snowflake vest) is more challenging than flat intarsia and there aren't too many good videos on how to work it. I am in LOVE with this and want to make it with long sleeves. Also in LOVE with the Snow sweater!
I am currently making the Halibut sweater for my husband! She does have the same motif in a cowl and mittens if you want to go all in. Lovely patterns!
Great episode. Another pattern that would fit in your list is ‘Yule Do’. I just made it in the same colour palette as the Snow sweater so it looks like night sky/ snowy trees …..which makes it a winter rather than just a Christmas sweater.🌲☃️❄️
Ah the joy of wearing a festive jumper at Christmas. Our Christmas landmarks are summer flowers, funny tan marks, and not a snowman in sight. I do have the Halibut pattern, might manage to knit it for Xmas in July. Love from Australia
I love these very festive and not over-the-top "ugly" Christmas sweaters! What a great idea! Seems for a while that Christmas sweaters were "the uglier, the better", but I never really subscribed to that. Thanks for sharing these lovely patterns!
I started the holly sweater last week. I’ll finish it today. I love it, I changed the berry from cranberry to red currant red as I liked it brighter. It’s beautiful. Go for it.
I was JUST watching that Milo Rossi video!!! I saw that hood and I was like WOAH what a fantastic adaption of that design!! I even made my partner go back so I could look at it more
The hearts in the nortnern augustins are a garland of gingerbread cookie hearts! it's a pretty common traditional xmas decor in Scandinavia, and you can either hang individual hearts, or a garland. They're typically tied with red ribbon :) as an explanation to the colours chosen. It's a beautiful pattern, and one I'd definitely knit! I love ridiculous xmas sweaters though, and am currently knitting a pink/mint/red Winter Doodle Sweater by PacificKnitCo. ^^'
I'm finishing my cuff on the Holy Sweater while I watch this! I changed out the Nordic color for cream. I loved this pattern because I want to wear this up to Feb 2nd when the Christmas season traditionally ends in the Catholic church. It's festive put not overly Christmasy .
Another comment, I can’t imagine spending all that time on Ravelry to find these gorgeous sweaters. I absolutely love the silhouette of the brown sweater with all the color work. Great job finding these.
Thanks for the inspiration! The hearts in the Northern Augustins No 6 sweater are brown because there made out of gingerbread. That‘s how you can buy them around Christmas here in Germany (and Scandinavia).
We also call them ‘honey hearts’. They are a bit airy and covered in dark chocolate, more like a small cake than a cookie. The gingerbread flavour we have in small crispy cookies called ‘brown cakes’. The confusing is total as we say in a common phrase 😂
I was looking for this comment! These brown hearts totally made sense to me (I live in Bavaria). And as Taylor says, the sweater has a gingerbread theme going on anyway because of the main color.
@@lenerothe6234 Of course you are totally right. I just called it gingerbread, because I didn‘t know another name. (It’s „Lebkuchen“ over here) Thank you for clarifying! Anyways I‘m looking forward to eating a lot of any kind of cookie soon. 😂♥️
I am almost binding off my Christmas sweater as I watch this. The Hinterland by Knit.love.wool in red with white motif. Last year I had at least 3 events when I felt I would like a festive sweater so I shopped the new year sale and cast on in the summer (Christmas in July). So happy I will be finished in time for dinners and choir performances. Love the snowflake. My next one will be blue and silver for solstice
This was such a great video Taylor - I love that you chose jumpers (I'm British 😉) that were not so in your face. I'll definitely be checking these out. 😍
Actually have the Holly Sweater on my needles right now! It’s for my 1 year old daughter, so I Am confident I can fix it in time. The pattern is very clear
I actually decided last week I needed a Christmas sweater this year. So I casted on Silverlining from Jennifer Steingass in a cranberry red with white as the contrast. The colors and design make me think of a glass globe ornament.
I'm not a big Christmas person but really enjoyed the video. What a great idea about the gingerbread one to not knit the colorwork if the sweater shape itself is something you like.
Thanks for these ideas. I am currently knitting a Love Note with the Krea Deluxe organic wool held with the mohair. The yarn is outstanding. It is not the easiest to get hold of but it is my second time knitting with it and I would highly recommend it.
❤️ Really great list! I love the last two sweaters! I'm super motivated to cast on a Christmas sweater too! I think I might do a little stash diving and see what I can make work! Thanks for the inspo 😁
I think the lack of yarn weight in the 3 Danish patterns you showed might be because in Denmark we tend to go by gauge only. Yarn weight is too vague, gauge is more specific.
Both of Pernille Larsen's patterns Tayler showed have patterns for kids, too! I think it would be fun the knit some for the whole family - would make for a nice Christmas card!
It's a great idea except that I live in New Zealand and its Summer time for Christmas. We have very high temperatures and so it's great to look at patterns but not knitting any, thank you.
Thank you Tayler! I found the SNOWFLAKE sweater pattern a few days ago on Ravelry... #obsessed! You're so right in that it would be perfect for those of us living in a warmer climate... it was 90 here yesterday - south TX. :/
Another great holiday/not holiday sweater is the Silverbells by Tin Can Knits. It would be even more festive if you used a sparkle base or held a strand of glitter with your base yarn. But you do have to like bobbles to knit it.
My Soldotna had a big hump in the back when I got it finished as well! I don't remember exactly how I fixed it but it involved cutting a stitch and unknitting from the top (which was a nightmare in itself) and somehow got it finished and I love it!
Your favorite holiday sweater is also mine, though the grey would wash me out, so I'd likely switch it to a beigey cream. I can't stand bobbles, but I love those berry bobbles SO much. Love what you said about the nutty brown colorwork sweater - that if you like the sweater but don't want the colorwork, just skip that part. It reminded me of a thought I had just yesterday, while working on a test knit in a nutty brown. That I could temporarily make it a holiday sweater by adding a reindeer face to it. Maybe a red pom pom for a nose (that could be made removable in many different ways), some felt eyes and antlers that are basted on (again, easily removable). Expanding on that, you could take any basic sweater in a holiday appropriate color and spruce it up temporarily in lots of different ways. Felt pins. A large necklace with felt holiday shapes that hangs in just the right place over the sweater (I'm leaning into felt because it's lightweight and less likely to weigh down or damage the sweater). I love the idea of not having too many special occasion items that live in my wardrobe for 11 months out of the year. And frankly, of not spending a month or two knitting something that can't be worn with any frequency. I live in Maine, so our cold weather knitwear season is pretty darn long. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE holiday sweaters. SO many I want to knit. And I'm not saying anything about other people knitting all the holiday sweaters (you should see my yarn stash - Everyone I know will be clothed and warm until the end of time). Just a connection to what you said and apparently I needed to ramble about it. 😅
The Snowflake Vest is beautiful but I bet it uses a lot of bobbins. I wonder if the snowflake could be done in duplicate stitch and still get something very similar? Definitely wouldn’t be so intimidating. Totally agree with you on the Holly Berry Sweater……it’s Christmasy but not in your face christmasy……it’s lovely!
I'm not Italian-American, but my dad's family is Polish-American and we always eat pierogi on holidays. I like the idea of a pierogi sweater, though that might be hard to do in knit colorwork 😂
The KFO Merino is 500m per 100 gr. Their Kid Silk is 225m per 25 gr. I would say it makes up for a Sport weight combo - not a DK. Love the KFO sweater and the Snowflake! Both are now in my faves on Ravelry!
I made the Holly Sweater recently (haven't worn it yet) but it is lovely!! I actually used two strands of knitpicks palette held together to meet gauge. It was a great idea until I hit the bobble section. 6 strands of yarn at one time 😅 BUT it turned out amazing and it was worth the frustration 🥰
I loved your video this time around. I am currently knitting The Santa Baby Sweater, which is not really Christmas but Winter and very wearable, for the entire Winter Season. It is beautiful and so seasonal. It is a free pattern by Filcolana yarn. Your Holly recommendation has me really wanting to make that also 😂. We are going to Germany fir the Christmas Markets 🌲🌲🌲
Thanks for a fun episode! I love holiday sweaters and make one just about every year. ❤ I am working on the Bethlehem Jumper by the Petite Knitter right now in a beautiful cranberry red and creamy white combo.
I have been in love with the Halibut sweater for well over a year, but have not figured out which yarn I'm going to use yet! I never thought of it as a holiday sweater, but now I have a mandate to find a nice Italian family to hold a Feast of the Fishes so I can wear the PERFECT occasion sweater! 😅 I also kind of love the Knitting for Olive snowfall sweater (if that's the correct name, idk). Every time I see it, I think hmmmm would I actually wear it?
I enjoy the artistry of Christmas sweaters, but I wouldn't wear one. First, I'd get too warm. Second, my style is to have a few pieces I can wear through a couple of seasons, if not all year. But I enjoyed the video because I love seeing people's creativity!
I like your selection of Christmas sweaters, they are different and more subtle. I would wear any of them but think the holly one is gorgeous. Just a funny note-when you summoned Siri my Siri responded. I wonder if everyone’s siri answered your call 😂 Eventually she went away but my screen froze until she did.

Knitting the Halibut for my husband for Christmas as he likes to go fishing. The pattern says it’s a woman’s so I guess I’ll just not do any decreases in the lower section.

In today’s episode, I’m sharing festive sweaters for the holiday season! Enjoy. ❤
You used to list all the featured garments in the Info section of the podcast. I am disappointed that they are not listed for this episode.
Thank you for these! Just FYI, intarsia in the round (Snowflake vest) is more challenging than flat intarsia and there aren't too many good videos on how to work it. I am in LOVE with this and want to make it with long sleeves. Also in LOVE with the Snow sweater!
@@alenac.3934 - IDK if this was in the description when you posted this, but there is a Ravelry link to a bundle that includes all of the patterns!
@@alenac.3934 there is a link that takes you to all of them. It’s fewer links for me to list and for you to click. 👍
@@EsmereldaPea THank you, found it!
I don't know about the rest of you but if I wanted to knit a holiday sweater, I would have had to start at Christmas in July...........2 years ago😂
Oh, make no mistake: same.
A sweater takes me about 3 months to make..add in some comourwork and yeah I can start one of these for the holidays next year 😅
😂😂😂
In Poland we often eat carp (type of fish). I think Halibut sweater totally would be appropriate for Christmas Eve in Poland 😅🥰
I’m having to talk myself out of a Christmas jumper after watching this 🫣😂 you’re such a bad influence 😂but great video as always ❤
I am currently making the Halibut sweater for my husband! She does have the same motif in a cowl and mittens if you want to go all in. Lovely patterns!
i typically don't think about Christmas until December but you really had me vibing this episode!
Great episode. Another pattern that would fit in your list is ‘Yule Do’. I just made it in the same colour palette as the Snow sweater so it looks like night sky/ snowy trees …..which makes it a winter rather than just a Christmas sweater.🌲☃️❄️
Taylor you never fail to bring the most random facts into knitting and I love it so much 😂 I can never be bored watching you lol
@@Tangled_Yarn ah gosh, thank you so much. ❤️❤️
I could start now for 2025!
Me too!
That Snowflake Vest though! 😍😍😍
I didn’t realize the Holly Sweater came in adult size! Time to force my children into matching me while I still can 😍
Isn't it adorable!?

The halibut is my favorite thing I've knitted 🐟
Love the sweater you’re wearing-sorry if I’ve missed it but could you share the pattern/yarn?
I'm fully in love with the Snow Sweater. So gorgeous
For the Halibut sweater, fellow RUclipsr Mark Vogel wears his a lot! It's looks fantastic.
Maybe someday/year 😄. Ever think of doing a “how I style my knits” episode? The whole skirt/sweater thing reminded me of those types of videos 😊
I started the holly sweater last week. I’ll finish it today. I love it, I changed the berry from cranberry to red currant red as I liked it brighter. It’s beautiful. Go for it.
Ok those are GORGEOUS ! Just LOOK at how adorable the baby dress version of the Snow Sweater looks !!

This makes so much sense! Of course they're cookies! Thank you for sharing this with me. ❤️

I vote for a gingerbread-heart 🤎 in the Northern Augustine’s no.6 sweater
I was just about to say the same :) A true Nordic festive delicacy with or without some icing on top.
Love your festive pattern choices. They still fit the holiday theme without being all "in your face" Christmasy. Defintiely beautiful wearable pieces.
These are the most beautiful holiday sweaters I’ve ever seen. Thank you for sharing them with us.

The snowflake vest is a cracking choice- really unique and I would wear that over all the others. Adding it to my ravelry faves now!
Northern Augustin's sweater's brown hearts are gingerbreads!
