Pleaseeeee listen to all their albums dude, they go from six strings in the 90s, to seven strings in the 2000s, and now they use eight strings and nine strings. Their evolution is crazyyyy
@@morganshibby8941 when a band goes from playing nu metal riffs in the 90s to playing basically djent in the 2010s yeah I think that does show some evolution dawg 💀💀
Man, you're in for an amazing journey. "Adrenaline" is so raw. From this to "Around the Fur" is already a huge step and they only got better from then onwards. Every record is different, but undoubtedly Deftones. Imagine, before "Adrenaline" was recorded they were asked to play a few songs for Madonna's then manager and he signed them right after the first song. 🤣
This band is so amazing and innovative that I often forget their guitarist is somehow a flat earther. Seriously though there's a reason they always come up in every other conversation about metal music, definitely one of the goats
During this period, Stephen was the only guitarist in the band. When _White Pony_ (their third album) came around, Chino picked up the guitar and started playing as well. Deftones also has a demo album called _(Like) Linus_ which you can find on RUclips. The band had a very different sound back then, you wouldn't even recognize them lol. Chino also has two other bands (Team Sleep and Crosses), and a side project called "Palms" with some of the members of the band Isis. Contrary to what a lot of people say, the only contribution Chino made to Palms were the vocals, the instrumentals were all by the Isis guys (Chino talked about it on a podcast a while back). Chino did learn some of the guitar parts for a tour they did, though.
YES, my favorite band 😭I hope you check out their other albums, because their evolution is crazy. My favorite album is the one after "Adrenaline," which is "Around the Fur"
Favourite band. This album always sounded like a bunch of high school kids making a demo tape, maybe saving up to get an evening down the local recording studio. Maybe my least favourite album in all honesty, but 30 years later I do appreciate it more. Fist feels like that look into the future of what was to come when you think shoegaze alternative. Hope you listen to the complete set.
I remember picking this soon after release. I'm a massive Helmet appreciator, if you're not familiar with them, listen thru their albums "Meantime"('92), & "Betty"('94), then you can understand when this came out, I was quite happy that another band had appeared doing similar things (with very distinctly different vocal stuff going on with Deftones). ;) Deftones changed their thing quite a lot thru the years tho. I think I own their first four albums, then I stopped buying so many albums generally after the turn of the millenium.... I'm sure filesharing had nothing to do with that! #DealWithItLarsYouRichTwat LOL Anyhoo, there is some damn good work from Deftones over the years - well worth further digging-into imho. I'm sure other folk will fill these comments with suggestions as to which order to cover which albums etc. :)
The first 3 deftones albums are superb and the sound evolved throughout. Fourth onwards it evolved into something bland and boring. They never seem to have recaptured their original authentic and dynamic sound. Still a great band that stood out from the other wannabes
You have never heard of Deftones man you need to check out my own summer (shove it) and rocket skates I did a deep dive in on Deftones last year and yeah I got a completely comparison to Chevelle, Thornhill, Moodring, Mirrorcell and many more.

In 2025 Stef Tone is gonna play an actual fuckin harp
More strings has nothing to do with a crazy evolution

Dude You need to hear a little bit of every album they've ever made before you cast any type of it. Opinions or judgments~

We need more deftones!
A journey that i wish i could repeat. Enjoy. Their evolution is amazing. Not a bad album in them, imo. Fireal and Fist have that shoegaze beginnings.
Please do all of their albums! ☺
The evolution in sound mix between this and their second album is crazy

Def have to do Around ths Fur next! In my opinion, their best album!
Long time Deftones fan, I wish I could go back and experience them all over for the first time.

This brings me back. Early high school for me when i first heard the deftones. 97-98 something like that. They changed my musical life then.
Have you heard the band glassjaw? Imagine this thrown in a blender with some punk rock and Dillinger escape plan. Their first 2 albums are killer.
Oh yeah! This album is good but White Pony is their magnum opus! Sooo many good songs on that album that are just masterpieces
make all the albums! you are already on the way 🙏🙏🙏
Still holds up.
great reaction
Jonathan Taylor? The singer of SlipKorn? Lol
Lol I knew I was mixing something up 😅
Son of Tim Taylor the TOOL man
I love them because they become so diverse
This album and the demo before it (like) Linus were very inspired by Bad Brains, Faith No More, Slowdive, Helmet... All the good shit basically

Diamond Eyes begs to disagree
Koi no yokan is beautiful
"Fireal" is pronounced like "For Real?" but with a California twang
I would recommend Koi No Yokan
And chino did a song for Resident Evil Retribution.
you should react to allll deftones albums
More
