Tool isn’t mosh metal, it’s more of what I call mood metal. You just relax in a dark room and vibe. The lead singer, Maynard Keenan, had two other bands: A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer. APC is my favorite of the three. And before you get a drum kit, you absolutely have to watch Tool’s drummer, Danny Carey. There is a kit cam video of his work during a live performance of Pneuma, a song that’s a couple albums away from here. But if you’re learning drums, if you can get to the speed and stamina of Joey Jordison (RIP) from Slipknot, and the technical skill of Danny, you’ll legit be known as one of the greatest drummers of all time.
They're obviously all masters of their craft, but Maynard (the vocalist) is hard to ignore on this album. As an old head, Danny's drumming is what I most vibe with these days, but they all shine bright at different times. Congratulations, and welcome.
