A piezo in an acoustic always sounds like a simulation anyway. The Boss allows you to route the signal via both your guitar amp (off) and direct to PA (on). Two guitars in one.

Thanks for the great comparison. I’m a bass player who just traded one of my 5 basses in on an Ibanez semi hollow AS 73FM. I want an acoustic sound sometimes without adding another guitar. The Boss AC 3 you proved sounds great with Humbuckers. Now, if only I can learn to play the guitar.

The Acoustic was the best for obvious reasons lol, then the Boss comes in second IMO. I will be buying Boss now instead of switching from two different guitars. Thanks for the video. I had a similar
setup as you have with a Headrush instead, a similar goal I had like yours, trying to eliminate the boxes on the floor. As it turns out, I got rid of the Headrush and went back to my boxes lol. I
have an Old 70's Ampeg all-tube head feeding into a Mesa 4/12 Cab and I will not let that sound go, nothing to me comes close to it in the modeling amp sounds. It gets better through time, it's
just not there yet for me.

Hey Michael, thanks for dropping by and interesting to hear about your rig! Sounds like you have found a really good sound, I'm not surprised you are reticent to move wholesale to amp simulation. I had it easier - I've never been happy with my real amp sound! Hope the Boss AC-3 makes your life a bit easier at gigs. :)

The acoustic guitar sounds the most like an acoustic 😁

Add a BBE Sonic Stomp after the Boss AC-3. Obviously an actual acoustic will win out, but for shows and convenience it deff does a great job.

I think the boss can be EQd to sound closer to that acoustic. You could have possibly boosted the mids and cut the tops slightly. Use the neck and change the EQ would sound fuller. Those out of phase pickup settings automatically thin out your sound.

Boss was the better of the two for me as well.

Liked the Boss best, the voices seemed to have a little more headroom in the eq

I wonder if there is any pedal attempting to convert the piezo sound of an acoustic steel-stringed guitar to the sound of that guitar captured by a microphone. And even more: one converting the piezo sound of a nylon guitar into the sound of the same nylon guitar captured with a mic.

After listening to fractals axe - the stomp sounds muddy tbh. Between these 2 dd i like the AC3. Nice comparison though!

AC-3 still rules, and also running an actual acoustic through the AC-3 over PA or even amp sounds better than running DI dry a Martin with let's say a fishman pickup.

Thanks for the great comparison. I find it quite funny, fake bass, fake drums, fake acoustic... As things are, the Boss pedal wins hands down, however, do yourself a favour, have a look at John Cordy’s page. He also adds an amp and IR block, which sends the Boss pedal into rapid redundancy.

Hah, good point, I didn't realise everything was fake! I'll check out John Cordy's channel. I have yet to dip my toe into using IRs with the Stomp... sounds like you can get some great sounds that way, thanks for the tip.

Every pedal vs alway has pedals running into the hx stomp. The hx stomp alters the sound of all pedals plugged into it.

Nah mate, the AC-3 and Acoustic I'm running straight into my Presonus Audio Interface, the Stomp doesn't get a look in.
