Thanks for watching! i think the Kemper does an outstanding job of bringing my amps into the digital realm - how well do *_you_* think the it did with profiling this amp? Let me know here.

Cool video. You’ve inspired me to start using my Kemper to profile a few of my last remaining tube amps ( Supro, EVH el34, and a Marshall Artist 30).

If you don’t get the profiles how you want em let’s make arrangements and we can do ‘em here. I’d love to get my hands on the 5150 as well as check out that Supro.

    Great video. 👋
I find many Commercial Profilers (except Michael Britt), set up their amps with way too much high end.
When you play their Profiles very loud through a PA the high end naturally increases and that's a problem.
Also, many Profilers are lazy and ignore the Refining process, or only refine for a few seconds.
I like what you did, firstly your amp EQ is setup just right and you spent at least a few minutes refining. 👍
    Sounds great!

Ya know it's funny - I generally set my amps fairly dark, I don't very much like a bright stage sound - but when I tried some of Michael Britt's stuff, to me they were a bit dull sounding. Not sure how to describe it and it's probably just me. I will say, though, he's one of the few I found who consistently gets the mids right!

      Yes that's true.
Michaels first Rig Packs were kind of dark sounding, I found through studio monitors Iwas adding some treble and presence to most profiles.
But It made sense when he mentioned that his first profiles were actually made at a soundcheck...he also mentioned he sets the amps up for profiling anticipating the high end is going to come out when played live loud through the PA system.

Maybe record a dry track for refining and use it for the process? - let us know why that would or wouldn’t work? cool stuff!

      Hey Bro, thanks for watching!
Your idea intrigued me but at first I didn't think I would be able to do this because to properly use the Kemper in a reamp scenario, it's best to send the guitar signal through the SPDIF connection. I use 2 Apollo X8P interfaces and they don't have a coaxial SPDIF connector so I thought I was hosed. Turns out, though, that the Toslink connectors can be used for either ADAT or SPDIF. I have those connectors on one of the Apollos used to connect my Audient Evo SP8 mic pre, but I have two of the Apollos. So I did a little research and ended up ordering an adapter box that will allow me to connect the Kemper via SPDIF to my system - thus it IS possible.
I'd love to do a comparison between refining like I did in this video, and doing it the way you suggest, then compare the results. Hmmmmmm, might make for an interesting video, ya think?
Thanks for the suggestion my friend! Keep watching, there's a lot more good stuff to come!

Can you make this profile available to the public? It sounds great online - but like you said, some profiles sound amazing when others play them but the true test it how it plays on your guitar, fingers, etc. I'd love to give this one a go.

The Kemper does a really great job! A big part of why the profile sounds so good is that I've got it mic'd with those four mics & the blend of those mics works really well. Using that many mics isn't all that common but I really like how they blend together!
Thanks for watching, and for your kind words!

I would love to see a follow up on the refining process and how one could use it on existing profiles. Also the “Liquid Profiling”, does it really make much of a difference? Could one liquid profile be used like an amp and adjusted for all one’s requirements/tones?
Thank for the great video. Looking forward to seeing more.

    • @TheGuitarNerdShow
      @TheGuitarNerdShow  6 месяцев назад +1

Great suggestion! And as it so happense, just such a video is in the pipeline. I plan to make a video, first, on taking the existing profile and using the Kemper's existing tweaking tools to make it sound even better than the original amp. Then I want to try loading some of the Kemper's tone stacks onto it, making it a Liquid Profile, and exploring what a difference that makes. As of now I haven't messed with Liquid Profiling AT ALL, so this'll be a journey for us all.
I'd also like to explore using different amps' tone stacks on this profile to see how they affect the overall tone; maybe create a complete new monster!
And finally, I plan to create another profile of the same amp, make it a Liquid Profile from the beginning, set all the knobs to 12:00 as Kemper suggests when making a Liquid Profile, then dial it in to my current settings (as are in this video) and see how close it is.
Thank you for the suggestion - I truly appreciate it! Keep watching!

That sounds great. I just subbed. Are you Steve Senes? I just grabbed the RE profiles with that name as the Author. I see comments mention a 68 Custom Deluxe which is what got me interested. I do not always like the Fender Kemper profiles right off. I always need to tweak which is fine but the 68 I just tried sounded perfect with my Tele and my JM.
I saw a video of your Laney AOR. I had one in the last 80s and sold it in the 90s :( Now I miss it having heard your video. Profiles of it coming?
I do recall the Laney was incredibly loud. Part of the reason I sold it. Sounded beautiful though.
    Great work and thanks
    Brian

Well yes, I AM Steve Senes - pleased to meetcha!
Wow, how ironic is is it that you just grabbed one of my profiles off RE! I made that profile in 2019 & I'd say that profile, tweaked in various rigs, is used probably 60% of the songs I play live. it's a super flexible sound for sure! I also have a profile of my old Bugera 1960 (old school Plexi Clone) that I did around the same time. If you like hard rock tones I highly recommend that one. This one profile gets used for everything from Metallica to Bruno Mars (seriously) and could go beyond that. Works well on all pickup selector positions. Just search my last name in the 'Author' field & you'll find it.
Thanks for the kind words and the sub. Stay tuned, lots more good stuff coming soon!

Great video. My question is how would you amplify that profile on a stage to compete with another Marshall stack and a drummer and bass player. The other guitarist is a Marshall devotee. My Kemper rig is currently on the sidelines until i can match the strength of a traditional rig 15:29

For the last several years I've used a powered Kemper Rack into a 4x12 loaded with Kemper Kones speakers for my stage sound. I still was running direct to front of house, the 4x12 was for me. The Kemper Power Rack is 600 watts and believe me, it gets LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've since switched to a Kemper Stage and run that into a Line 6 Powercab 2x12 - that is 500 watts. I've only used it for the last couple weekends but I haven't had to turn the volume much past halfway and I've had a HUGE and loud stage sound - enough that I haven't missed the 4x12 at all - and I like a lot of low end on my stage sound. This setup delivers - BIG TIME!!!!!!!!

Very nice... and great to see this. You got some very good tones there too. Yes the Kemper has been with me for a very long time too - and just as an opinion I do think it still remains one of the best. The little 'player' can be useful too if a tad expensive for what's in it... but it does perform well and does what it was supposed to do. All good stuff and appreciate the rundown... and thanks for the sub... I subbed back too :)

Hey Tony - it's great to see ya here. I've been enjoying your videos for quite some time now - although I've got videos on here from a long time ago, I'm fairly new at the RUclips game so I expect/hope the quility of my videos will gradually improve.
Thank you for the kind words about my tone - I spent a LOT of time finding the right mic combinations and placements for what I look for - basically, I look for that 'amp in the room' sound through the microphones. Some may consider it overkill, but I found that using those 4 mics really does get me the closest. It's really a useful setup with some tech-nerd geekery thrown in there to increase it's utility. Have a look-see - ruclips.net/video/A7TrRihoOfw/видео.html
The collection isn't quite as impressive as yours, but I'm working on it & I think you'll agree that it covers a lot of ground, tone-wise!!
Again, thank you for watching and for your kind words - keep up the great work!
