A good cut nut is so important and not payed enough attention to in the factories. Your tips are very helpful.

I did a gig opening for Styx around 2007. Same deal, Jimmy showed me the Gorgomyte and how he used it while working on one of Tommy Shaw's guitars, and gave me a pack. Been using it ever since. He also helped me pack up my stuff and get it off stage, just a super nice guy. I'll never forget that whole experience.
The string stretcher, I got one and used it once on a tele. Stretched the crap out of, and probably like the wrong angle that you pointed out, but the guitar intonation was just f'd and I had to change strings immediately. Side note, there was a tone talk episode with a guy who worked for D'darrio and he said the string don't actually stretch. Like if they put the string in a machine and pull the string, it doesn't stretch, but then it reaches a point. He said it has more to do with the locking parts getting into place (like at the tuner), or more importantly, the string has a tensile strength where it sort of wants to be flat, but over say the nut where there is an angle, the tensile strength tries to keep the string straight over that angle, like think it's rounding a bit, and it takes a while for the string to actually achieve that angle. You can speed that up by bending the string down at that point. I don't know if that's really true, but it makes quite a bit of sense. Otherwise, your method worked great and no qualms there. Just trying to share a couple things that might be of worth.

@@TheGuitarNerdShow Great video. JJ, he was the kindest guy I ever met. Sorry he's gone. His wife is still running Gorgomyte. Cool that he left her a little business she could run.
