    This recording might just be the loudest, rawest and heaviest thing to ever come out of the 1960s. Still sounds incredibly powerful over 50 years later.

    In 1967, the Byrds fired David Crosby. In 1968, Lou Reed fired John Cale. Both moves were extremely mental.

    It's such a blindingly brilliant concept from the audience member. Just record as close as possible to Lou's amp. Outstanding. Best idea Warhol never had !

      Sunn amps cranked, Vox MKII fuzz, Gibson Semi-hollow guitars and don't forget Lou Reed's hands.

    It reminds me of the time I recorded a local band on my portable cassette machine.. The battery's were failing so the recording ended up sounding super distorted.. They were so impressed with how knarly it sounded they released a limited run of cassettes of the recording

      @fox pals well you have to consider that this recording is literally just the mic right next to lou's amp, so imagine a recording of ron asheton playing la blues with the recording just being the mic next to ron's guitar, i figure it'd be just as intense still both great though

    • @neal1692

      @fox pals i can understand, i think that they were both just as intense but just simply different

    I imagine Jonathan Richman meant...." Lou would rape his guitar...)

      Sister Ray is in G. He isn't using ostrich tuning during this. This is probably tuned a half step down if anything, although it's probably just the old tape making it sound detuned.

    Is that Reed or Sterling Morrison? Wasn’t Sterling lead guitar?

    • @marcgallegos2239
      @marcgallegos2239 4 года назад +8

      they often took turns soloing, these recordings are directly from Lou's amp. Sterling's solos were usually bluesier while Lou's were a wall of sounds as heard here
