    I’m still a nitrous guy, because I don’t know enough about turbos and computer tuning to run them. This video shed some light on some things. I want to go turbo one day and let my and eat!! It’s similar to Randys motor setup, just with his old heads. Still gets down in the 460-470 range, which too bad for a nitrous small block on a working man’s budget. Lol. Love the video man

    Actually on a MAF equipped vehicle, the recirculated air goes after the MAF sensor, not before, since that air has already passed through the MAF sensor and has been calibrated for by the computer already.

    It will be harder on the turbo John I was with a team running that setup and it's pretty slick but you do put a little bit more wear on your turbos but I would say it's no more than ten percent more and worth it in my opinion for how sweet it makes controlling the turbos. It allows you to make peak performance out of your turbos with better control for the whole run and it's repeatable every time and that's something that's unheard of in the turbo world.

      Is the additional wear and tear on the turbo due to it over spinning or from back pressure in the intake back onto the turbo?

      It seems to me that smaller engines would be able to spool the turbo much quicker with the waste gate on the charge pipe, is that true?

    Yeah, I have had the same question in my mind about the way Promod guys like Mark Micke are running wastegates on the intake side only. How do they keep the turbo from over spinning? Is it controlled via back pressure in the intake charge pipe back to the turbo? Will be interested to hear the information you get from Vanderhoof.

      It's been really interesting what Mark and the guys at Fuel tech have done. They have said that there's always a limit to how fast a turbo can spin according to how much air the engine, and all the supporting parts can handle. As long as your running a good, proper sized turbo (not an ebay hairdrier) you shouldn't ever over spin it. It's kinda like the cheap dollar store pin wheel. It only spins as hard as you can blow on it. At some point, a motor runs out of "blow". It's really no different that having your waste gates pinned shut at wide open throttle.

    Will using wastegates on the turbo discharge pipe cause the turbo to push oil pass the turbo seals? Everytime I see a diesel blow off a turbo hose it push oil pass the turbo oil seals

    John diesel engines don't have throttle plates No butterflies therefore they can not search

      They surge when you are on the left side of the compressor map.

      @@TurboJohnRacing in your case it's either a bad wastegate that's a 7.3 or is there a variable vein in back of the turbine wheel that stuck because of the carbon which is what controls the Boost that's why you don't see a wastegate

    That’s not serge it’s lugging the motor you need to down shift from OD to D and possibly 2nd

      On a stock 7.3, it 100 percent is turbo surge. There used to be some RUclips vids where you could hear it.
