      It haven't been able to find any leaks, at least while the car is cold, so I recently replaced the spring. The new one was 8% longer and several shades lighter than the old one. I haven't had a chance to see if this fixes it, though (because racecar). The turbo kit is probably about 15 years old, though the miles aren't all that high.

    I have a question and I need your specialty opinion. The wastegate had started pulsating after I’ve turn up the boost to from 4psi to 10psi. A 4port boost controller was install via haltech 2500elite ecu. On 3rd gear, boost is set at 5psi and after 4k rpm it’s set at 10psi. But since the wastegate pulsating started, boost will come alot later in 3rd gear and I’ll have fuel cutoff around 6500rpm. Check engine light will pop up showing a code for INJECTORS 90% CYCLE DUTY. It has a 450lph walbro fuel pump and 1000cc Bosch injectors.. also on e85.

    • @motoiq

      You don't use a divorced downpipe with an external wastegate, the wastegate has it's own exhaust that you can dump or merge back into the downpipe. For a stock turbo, switching to an external wastegate would be difficult and not worth it.

    how do i make the turbo stutter noise?

    • @motoiq
      @motoiq  2 года назад +3

      Don't run a compressor bypass valve or blow-off valve. This causes the compressor to surge when you close the throttle which makes the stutter noise. BTW, this isn't good for your turbo thrust bearing and causes poorer throttle modulation and transient response because you are forcing the turbo into surge, slamming the compressor into the thrust bearing, and causing the compressor to slow down. With a BOV or bypass valve, the boost pressure is vented when the throttle is closed, keeping the turbo speed high, so there is less lag when the throttle is re-applied. Then you get a hiss or whooshing noise when you let off the gas.

    What would the benefit (if any) of a water cooled wastegate on a mildly built , daily driven street car such as an STI?

      If your wastegate was in an area that has little air flow and a lot of radiant heat it could help life.

    What happened to the original posting of this video

      There were some weird spots when the screen went black and the audio went out. We had to redo it.

    How do these Garrett wastegates compare to Turbosmart ones? Both seem like solid options, let me know!!

    Good video, however I believe you need to disclose when a video is an ad or sponsored. Even when not an ad/sponsored if you get a product for free, you need to disclose that as well.

      What difference does it make, its not like we are lying about specs. Please don't have me killed or nuke our country.
