What a clever no nonsense guy. Having kept aquariums non stop for 30 years I'd always overlooked the minow. But they are comparable at least to any high end fish such as espei rasbora /lambchop and arguably more characterful. The essence of a small ornamental fish. Keep it going mate your doing a doing a amazing job amongst a growing influx of competition. What they perhaps lack is your sincerity.
The mustache is on point man!!! Keep up the great work! We are lucky to have a guy like you in the hobby. You’re turning into a RUclips fish dude staple
Nick, I purchased some Bug Buffet last month and finally had it arrive last week. My fish have been doing great and feeding very well, including some Loricariidae that usually don't come out to eat that often! Thank you from the Netherlands!
Fun and helpfull video to watch :-) luminatus are definitely awesome fish! Never knew the hillstream loaches are that easy to breed! Definitely going to try those :-)
Hi Nick I love your vids mste iivvebeen in hospital the last three month 3: recovering from brain surgery due to a bleed Iiyour vids have made me just want to get home r so bad and get back to my tanks it's helped heapsthank you
Just started breeding some red neons blue eyes. Got 16 fry and counting. I dip the eggs in paraguard before adding them to my growout tank. Seems to be working well
I swear all pseudomugils look so adorable and you can't see a single thought behind those eyes as if all of them share a single braincell, I love them they are adorable and fun to breed 😂❤
Please make one tutorial for cardinal tetras i have tried the neon tetra method it didn't work out for me. Would be helpfull if you make a tutorial because your tutorial has been very clear compared to others
I'm in Florida if I ever get a chance to come to Australia I'm definitely going to visit your shop Nick and I really like these breeding videos and your shrimp experiments
@Keepingfishsimple what light do you use for your breeding tanks. I’m setting up some breeding tanks and I’d like to know what you use for your tank light wise at least.
Great Video Nick, I have just got into Neocaridina shrimp & they are pumping the babies out like crazy, I have them with endlers, & there are tons of babies, Maybe It's because it is a jungle aquarium, with a thick plant growth, I was wondering if hill stream loaches would breed with these guys?
Hey Nick! I have been trying to breed Pacific Blue Eyes in a 50 litre tub (Not enough space for more tanks) I have a group of 4 blues eyes 1 male and 3 females and despite all the videos on how to breed them I watch they won't spawn in the spawning mops no matter what i do. I have 2 spawning mops and feed bug buffet and frozen brine shrimp. I keep them at 26-28 degrees because I used to keep them with no heater and warmer water apparently helps them breed. Lastly I recently put a bristlenose in there temporarily as im resetting one of my tanks, would the bristlenose be a problem and do you have any tips to try breed them? (Sorry for the long paragraph).
People definitely like to over complicate things. There is a good reason common fish are common (they actually sell). Breeding a fish for preservation is a great thing and should be done by all fish keepers, but they typically don't sell well and don't contribute much to reducing the food, electric, and general up keep bill. Keep your fish healthy, happy, and spawning regardless of the type 😊
Rosy minnows are typically mass bred for feeding purposes where as the white clouds are typically sold as a pet. here in the Midwest we sell them for roughly 2.50 and the rosy minnows sell for 29 cents
Do the hill stream loaches not need high flow? I remember reading or hearing that they really want super high flow but it doesn't seem that way from your video.
That was the accepted wisdom some years ago, hillstream loaches need cool water and fast flow, high oxygen concentration and they are very difficult to breed. We now find this is not true at all, they can be kept at normal aquarium temperatures and they don't need fast flow. Lucas Bretz bred then at normal temperatures in a totally static aquarium, not only was there not fast flow there was actually no flow and they bred for him. I'm in Greece, it's mid-summer and my hillstream loach tank is currently 83 Fahrenheit, 28 Celsius and they are doing just fine.
i bought a small pack of bug buffet and green cuisine but i think i got a bad lot or something. its hard as a rock and wouldn't crumble i had to use 2 spoons together to grind it up and the fish wouldn't eat it at all. luckily the snails ate it in about 3 hrs so it didnt crash my tank. $60 for a hill stream loach and they are that easy to breed. sheesh we get screwed so hard in Aus. i wish we had a cory or aquarium co op here where they set the price low
Iv been here since hundreds of subscribers you definitely look better on the second attempt at a moustache 😂 now you have reached the hallowed halls of breeding zebra plecos could you please do the fishkeeping world a favour and figure out home breeding Cardinal Tetra 🙏 I have tried for 20 years on and off I formally hand you the torch 🔦
You wont make any money but the easiest fish to breed are convict cichlids, I've actually had issues preventing them from breeding and still have way too many.
Hi, I didn't watch your youtube's channel since a long time, and I have a question for you : Why ? Why this "moustache" ? 🧔 ? I really like the moustache of my corydoras, it's my favorite fish, but your moustache, it's not possible ! It's very strange ! Please, why don't you cut it off ? ✂️ I am sorry for my english, I'm french. Someone who don't like the moustache, but who likes fish. Take it easy, it's a joke. 😊

Nick I love your videos they are so entertaining, informative and real I aspire to be like you in the future
All 5 are great choices. I really need to get back into breeding. Thanks for sharing
I can't keep any fish outside through the winter. Wisconsin winters are severe enough that any unheated home-sized ponds will freeze solid.
Hi Nick I love your vids mste iivvebeen in hospital the last three month 3: recovering from brain surgery due to a bleed Iiyour vids have made me just want to get home r so bad and get back to my tanks it's helped heapsthank you
I would love to get a colony of the hillstream loaches, but they cost about $20 each in my area.
I think you're right, everyone loves colony breeding tanks. Could you think about doing a video on the best colony breeding fish types?

Danios were the first for me really easy. Wasn’t really trying to either. Ended with about a 100 fry All made it.
Thanks for the awesome content

Just ordered bug buffet. Looking forward to trying it
🩷
I put 5 white cloud minnows in my gold fish pond. Now there's hundreds of them.
@Keepingfishsimple what light do you use for your breeding tanks. I’m setting up some breeding tanks and I’d like to know what you use for your tank light wise at least.
I would love to see a video of the top five most colorful fish, nano, average and large sizes!

What are your fish foods u sell or make?
do you know where i can buy any of these fish in townsville?

Very interesting and good information but I would rather breed native Galaxias. (and send trout back where they came from)
Wow! Six bucks??? Minnows are about 45 cents in Canada. You can usually only find rosy minnows. They sold as feeder fish.
Rosy minnows are typically mass bred for feeding purposes where as the white clouds are typically sold as a pet. here in the Midwest we sell them for roughly 2.50 and the rosy minnows sell for 29 cents
Hi, Nick, I bought some red neon blue eyes they sent me all males, have you got any females for sale and how much will it cost to ship to Victoria?
I heard white cloud minnows dont deal well with water over 80 degrees at all. Is that not true?
Wayyyy too warm for them. Try discus/rams or angels!
I never hear to much on pigmae rainbowfish is it really true that they are difficult to breed?
I will to see u make a video of them
Platties are super easy also. I love live birthers

@@andystokes8702 Dang okay. Thanks for the info. I might have to get some.
do they have long finned gold white clouds?

My easiest fish to breed are celestial pearl Danio, tanichthys albonubes, corydoras bronze, clown killifish
Never thought Borat has Australian accent
Can you try breeding Rapheal Catfish (Doradids)
Yes please or synodontis petricola
I'd love to see him try to breed other harder catfish besides corys and nano cats
Hilstream loach is a fish ive always wanted but they so damn expensive where i am
Nick Diggler!
