We are a dedicated group! I've had my Black Vita 1000 since Christmas of 2012. I recently grabbed the Crystal White 1000 and will also be purchasing both the Sapphire Blue and Cosmic Red 1000s as well. Safe to say my all time favorite console.
Great video and welcome to the psvita club! Glad you managed to get the original. It does have the better screen. Kill one was pretty surprising with how good it is. You did well getting the uncharted so cheap. Never knew you could get a stand for it.

You picked up a lot of great PS Vita games for your first time! I have a few PS Vitas, including a blue one from Japan, and modded every one of them. My blue one uses an SD to Vita adapter, and I got a 1 TB card installed. I have the top 100 and more Vita games installed, plus about 50 PSP games and about 50 PS1 games too. I also have Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, Game Gear, Arcade, Turbo Grafx 16, Turbo Grafx CD, Neo Geo, Sega CD, Atari 2600, Commodore 64, and a few other systems installed as well. I literally have thousands of games at my disposal. I love it!
It's cool to see the capabilities of the PS Vita! Whenever I eventually get my 2nd PS Vita, I plan to look into what can be done with it, and I'll probably do a video on my experience with it. Thank you for checking out the video!

I bought a Vita at launch, and had it for a few years before eventually selling for some reason or another. Regretted that decision. Ended up getting a Vita slim a bit later, picked it up with Persona 4 Golden. Here in the last couple of weeks I ended up buying a 1001 Vita because it was sitting on display at a shop. I saw it once and thought it'd be nice to buy, went back a couple of weeks later and it was still there. Picked it up and replaced the scratched up screen on it. Wonderful little console. I've modded both of them now and have my entire vita game collection installed on the 1001. I use it as a sit down at home and play kind of console while the slim goes in my bag anytime I'm out and it's great to have on hand. They really are fantastic devices.
I can’t tell you how many times when I was younger selling a collection and regretting it down the road. Now that I’m older, I tend to buy more with intention. One day, I’ll probably get a Vita 2000 to have a modded version, but I do still enjoy finding the physical copies in the wild. 🙂 Thank you for checking out the channel and subscribing!! The cray part is that Japanese Vitas on Ebay are cheaper than US models, because they are so much more abundant, and because Japan does not value used items as highly. I ended up getting an imported 2000 in super nice shape, with a 4gb card, and in a rare color for $130 shipped. The only issue is getting used to the "o" being confirm and "x" being back.
Now if i can just muster up the nerve to spend $90+ on a physical copy of Horizon Chase Turbo i will be happy.

@@8BitFrogGaming Just a heads up, the 2000 model psvita has 1gb of memory pre-installed so you don't really need the memory card unless you want more storage.

I picked up my first Vita 2 years ago and love it.
Currently I have the Assassins Creed Edition white 1001 Vita in box, the Borderlands Edition black 2001 Vita in box, a PSTV, a Nyco Power Grip for each one of my Vita's that has a built in battery that doubles the battery life on the go, 2 hard plastic Vault cases one black and one blue, the official charging dock for the OLED, a 16 gb memory card, two 32 gb memory cards, 133 Physical games, and 119 Digital games.

I reccomend buying digital games that are on sale, like darkest dungeon, salt and sanctuary, steamworld, skullgirls and much more. Also you can buy cheap physical titles such as freedom wars. Supporting the digital store is very important imo

@@8BitFrogGaming since the vita is discontinued i suggest just modding your vita and getting them in another way, they run perfectly fine, plus u can save all your games on 1 memory card.

@@8BitFrogGaming yeah its like u fully open up the vitas capabilities, not only can u dl the vita, psp and PS1 games directly on the vita itself without even using a PC, it also plays retro games perfectly with retroarch

I love my vita! It has been hacked though, and its really awesome! 512 gb of storage and can play everything from my child hood. very nostalgic. you got a great deal and hope you enjoy your vita to the fullest

@@8BitFrogGaming Hacking the Vita allows use of a MicroSD to Vita adapter. Currently have a 400GB one in mine. Great for storing digital games. There's also a lot of interesting plugins you can run on a hacked Vita ((Dualshock 3 and 4 support, outputting video to computer through USB, battery percentage, Overclocking for better performance and frame rate, etc...).
Edit: Darn, I almost forgot to mention native PS1 and PSP support.
You have to hack the vita and buy an sd2vita adapter that uses the game slot and set it up with auto plugin 2 there is RUclips vids about how to do it
I got two of the OLED models and love them. After modding them, it's an unbelievably great system.
Once I get my second Vita, I’ll go through the modding process. I may even do a video with that process. So much fun!

You spent too much, watch Blaine Locklair tutorials on modding it and using microsd cards on it and just download the games digital, you can get their entire collecton on one SD card with the updates and still login to PSN.
For my personal collection, I do not want digital or mods. I want a physical collection for preservation. Nothing wrong with mods, but I got a great deal overall for everything overall. 🙂
@@8BitFrogGaming Honestly I have both, digital modded and physical...always good to have both! Same with the Wii U and other older platforms.
We jailbroke them for the convience of digital installs, and stll own the physical for collectors purpose and don't have to use the games or damage them.
Wow! 10$? That's a really good deal. I wish I could find a copy of Killzone at a decent price, that one is missing from my mini collection.
I recently went on a similar path and bought one 1000 model, in perfect condition. But the deals I kept finding were so good, that I also bought two 2000 models (one I intend to sell though). All three were about 140-150$ and came with various games, cases, and memory cards. The 1000 one even came with the original box. After selling some of the games I didn't need and taking into account the crazy price of those memory cards, I think I paid as little as 50$ for the actual consoles.
As you said, there are still some good deals out there, if you're patient and persistent enough. And even if you end up paying a bit more, some of these games can't be experienced elsewhere and are a lot of fun, so if they bring joy, it's worth it!

I picked one up last year for $70 including a 32 gig card and got Uncharted and Killzone with cases for under $5 each. Quite possibly the best gaming value I’ve ever got given how much I’ve played the thing. I’ve been picking up games (no more that cheaply unfortunately) and have a solid collection of about 20 at this point.
Do yourself a favor and mod it, with retroarch it’s an excellent way to enjoy games from the 8- and 16-but consoles 👌

@@8BitFrogGaming Great video. To my surprise the PSVita store is still up online. It’s Active still. I was able to download Metal Gear HD Collection and Uncharted. Graphics on Uncharted is crazy good!
@@Rip84LW yes! Uncharted was one of my first games I played and the controls are really fun! It really shows the capabilities of the Vita! I may end up grabbing the Metal Gear Solid and a few others since the online is still on.
@@8BitFrogGaming like to be honest in some parts of the game in Uncharted it felt like I was playing a PS3 Game. Almost couldn’t tell the difference. Console quality for sure. Yes you should get the Metal Gear HD Collection. It’s Fantastic!
I picked up a Vita OLED about 2 years ago now, second hand unboxed but it’s in good condition, their is some burn in on the screen but you only see it when it’s off and at a certain angle. Still use it now and then. I am kicking myself for not getting the cradle though as they are so expensive now. I really want one lol. It’s a great handheld, solid build and small enough.
I’m sure you could find a replacement screen for your Vita if it has the burns in it. I did a repair guide video on where you can find parts and a guide that can help with the repairs. I haven’t done any repairs on a Vita before, but it was fun finding the resources if needed. It is such a comfortable handheld with a solid library of games!

Love mine from the start. Also its a great time to buy one because they are not expensive and most of the time in such a almost new condition. And if you look in the right places game prices are ok.. or you mod it
I recommend modding the vita, you can get every vita psp, and psx game plus you can get a 256 gig or more sd card. I did that to mine and I love my vita even more after all the customizing I can do

You can get a sd2psvita converter to use standard sd cards if you decide to jailbreak yours which I highly suggest

@@abenrojas5653 that's great! I am referencing physical copies. I am sure you can find cheaper digital copies, but I don't recommend digital games often.
Although i don't play my vita as i used too I'm glad I supported the system from the get go. Due to that I got a good library and cheap. I won my vita a month before release date through taco bell along with 3 games.

The 64 GB works in the NTSC Vita. The price may be prohibitive for most. If that's the case you can jailbreak it to take off brand SD cards. I have a 64 GB Sony card and it holds a lot of games but I still managed to fill it so a larger card would be nice.
I plan to do all that kind of stuff whenever I find a second Vita. I wanted to keep this first one as original as possible. Looking forward to finding another one and having some fun with it. Thanks for sharing feedback and watching the video!

I have a 1000 model and hard shell case I’ve been downloading majority of the games because it’s cheaper to download than get the physical game itself got the sly cooper collection and thieves in time for only 28 bucks on the shop

I plan to do that with another PS Vita when I get my second one. I wanted to share this experience for anyone that never had one and show it can be affordable. This is without making modifications, emulation, or anything else along those lines. But that SD adaptor is a great piece to buy. 👌🏻
IMHO - if you can find one for 100-120 or cheaper - get it, mod it, look for used games that go for $5-10 (last one I got was Final Fantasy for $5 in comics store) and get bunch of vintage ones with RetroArch. If you see price getting closer to $200 - get Switch Lite instead for 200. I own PS Vita since 2013/2014 and it's hardware engineering and design still perfect for gaming even 10 days after its release but since Sony making it harder and harder every day to use it - Nintendo (which I got for my kid, so I can compare) may be better call.

I suggest you mod the vita. It's a easy console to mod and you could get 100+ games for free if you add a SD to Vita adapter. I myself have a modded Vita and I added a SD to Vita adapter.I have about 30 games for just $10.

I agree. It had some great titles for it. The system itself is clean and comfortable in the hand. The screen had great quality with the OLED and the speaker are not bad sounding. It was definitely ahead of it’s time.

Careful with the Walking Dead S1, it`s super buggy and broken in some lvls. I would get stuck in death loops that were pretty much impossible to get past without restarting because the buttons just wouldn`t respond.

It’s between a vita and 2ds xl for me…and I’m planning on nodding them. What’s your views bro?
If I had to pick overall, I personally love the 2DS XL for the Nintendo game library. If you are wanting a beast of a handheld modded system, the PS Vita OLED model would be my go-to. You can mod it to get a 1TB SD card and load it with tons of games and the picture quality is great. It plays so nicely too and fits comfortably in the hand.
I love the first-party titles for Nintendo, and in my opinion, some great RPGs are on that system, including Dragon Quest VI & VIII, Radiant Historia, & Shin Megami Tensei IV. Also being able to play original DS games is nice because I love grabbing my Chrono Trigger or Dragon Quest IX and playing it too.
If you can get both at a good price, I’d snag them both. For modding, go the PS Vita route. I’ve noticed how much of a community there is with that scene. Hope this helps! Thanks for checking out the channel!

Bought my Vita around a month ago and I love it. Unfortunately there are a few minor scratches on the screen and back that are really fking with my head, wish I could fix them somehow 🤣. Overall though, it's insane what a modded Vita can do 🤘🏻

We can still buy games for psvita Today..online ... just add to your wallet...and I have 4 psvita with 64gb memory I'm trying to buy all the games for the vita...and they are alot cheaper than the physical games ... like retro city rampage dx it's 70 to 100 dollars physical..and at ps store is just 9 dollars.. nineeeee dollars.

You can mod the psvita and use the game card slot adapter for a sd card to be your memory. You won't be able to play physical games but you can get pkgj and get any game you want sooo yeah I mean you can use an SD card.

Nah the best thing to do is to mod the vita so you can slap a micro SD inside with an adapter. You'll have infinite storage
Yeah, I’ll do that with my 2nd Vita system. I wanna keep this one as original as possible. I know that isn’t the popular choice, but I’m a gamer and collector and like having systems the way they were created, at least having one system that way. I do love the modding stuff out there too, don’t get me wrong. Lol

I directly modded my first vita (it'as a slim model), but i plan on buying a broken original vita from a friend, repair it and keep it unhacked, so i know i won't run into any issues with it, except sony giving up on it so getting any digital game is gonna be a nightmare.

@8 Bit Frog i think it's best to mod the ps vuta cus then you can use a sd card conver to use a sd card instead of the ps vita memory and then cuz for games like odin's sphere is going for over 100 dollars on amazon and ebay
Yeah, I believe the SD card upgrade is a good plan to have. I plan to do it with another PS Vita. I wanna keep this one original for my collection. My second one will be my experimental one. 🙂

I know a lot of people go to eBay and Amazon for a lot, so it was just one reference I used at the time of this video. And it was fun to find a sweet deal and wanted to share that anyone can find good deals too!

Yeah, the prices definitely have in general, however, they can be found at a cheaper price if you just keep an eye out for someone trying to get rid of it quickly on FB Market, Pawn Shops, Thrift Stores, or Yard Sales.
@@8BitFrogGaming I noticed a few years ago (2016-17ish), Walmart, Target, and other major retailers clearancing Vita games off of there shelves, so I bought a ton of them (most between $5-$10). Gamestop fallowed shortly after. I have just under 100 Vita games, most of them I bought in that small window between the stores getting rid of them, and collectors realizing they are getting hard to find.

I’ll test and see how long exactly for you. They say my model has a 3-5 hour battery life playing. I believe in general it charges fairly quickly. I’ll get back with you on that @Nyaho_bb
i never got the Ps Vita but later this year im going too save up and get a Japanese New Nintendo 3ds XL and Ps Vita because there much cheaper than the American versions i only got the Ps Tv which is a device that lets you play Ps Tv games on the Tv but un modded you cant really play any of your games on the Tv so kind of a waste of money if you ask me

Jailbreak it, you can use an adapter with a micro SD card. I use a 256GB card.
I may do a jailbreak or mods to another PS Vita I get in the future. I wanna keep this one as authentic as it gets. It's good to know that it can expand that way. Makes it way nicer. Thanks for the tip!

Are you still able to buy games from the store?
Unfortunately you cannot find them in a standard retail store. You can look in local retro game shops that carry all types of games. I recommend supporting local game stores, or you can be patient with Facebook Market Place, which is where I got this find.

I bought a PS Vita the other day....
Came with two boxes it was called the first edition or something. It came with 8gb memory card, two games, a case ar cards. Looks like new. All for 200 is that good?

I think they look very nice. I missed the Vita Train as people liked to say, but I have had every PlayStation console up to this point so I figured why not pick up a Vita just for fun. I think it’s kind of funny that I’ve never seen one in person in my life. Not sure why. Everybody I knew had Nintendo stuff growing up in our area.

Just stay consistent with your searches, especially with Facebook Market, and something good will pop up. I’m going to the beach next week, so maybe I’ll find some sweet deals or some more Vita games to add to the collection. I’ll keep an eye out on a white Vita at a good price as well for you!

One of my friends has one and it is really cool! Maybe one day I’ll get one, but I personally am not for the digital gaming direction when it comes to eventually whipping out physical media. Don’t get me wrong, I have some digital games, but if I can have it physically, I’m gonna try to have it in my collection. To each it’s own when it comes to your preferences. Overall, Steam Deck is a dope system, but so is the PS Vita. 😄
