Try pulling the lever while someone pulls up the hood, could just be a broken spring.
Or have someone pull on the hood latch and the other person pounds on the hood. Probably hood latch spring is worn out or the mechanism needs some wd40 or white lithium grease.
It's a hooptie. I'd just force it open with a crowbar or cut the hood with a torch.
Looks to me like the hood release cable is broke there’s absolutely no resistance in the lever when he pulls on it.
Lmfao. The face he has on when he says. The hood won’t open. I totally forgot about that!
When you get the hood open install hood pins. Problem solved.
Kevin Baker bruh you just yank the hood latch outa there
@@armon_mo3996 I know that.... that's why I mentioned hood pins.... have to have away to keep the hood shut. Right???
A car that cheap doesnt need hood pins, just a couple of long sheet metal screws will hold it down.
You bring a special joy in laughter every time you deal with the 20 year old Chevy Prism 👍🙏
I found the problem, see that Chevy badge on it.
Welcome To The Madness no, no. I found the problem. You have way to much time on your hands
@@v6mustang551 no no no, we've all got too much time on our hands.
I can say the same about any American car. Ford, Chevy, etc.... Acura all the way for me :)
Dude that thing is a Toyota
@@TheMANOJ200 but the fact that it's got the Chevy badge on it is a curse in itself..
If you can see where the latch is between the gap and air inlets, use a screwdriver to pull the latch sideways where the cable is supposed to connect
The guy cant even google how to open the latch.
Or simply google cant even answer his question?Ive been looking on how to properly tune your carburetor, and the result is dissapointing.Seems like these topics was too old for internet, huh?
Find out exactly where the battery is located and grind out a section of the hood to gain access to it lol.
And you'll have a hood scoop to cool it, win win
LMAO nowwww why didn’t I think of that. Since it’s a junker anyway I doubt he’d care.
I've had the same problem with the hood latch before, I was able to get it open by having someone pull on the latch, while I lifted the hood up
The way to do it is to have someone in the car pulling the latch all the way while another is at the hood. You push down hard then release in a firm quick motion. If that don't work use a firm push down lift up motion. After it is open lube the heck out of the latch assembly and fix the stretched cable issue.
Deucealive75 exactly what I did, ever since lubing it, haven't had the problem since
Roll down the driver's window and you can pull the latch and lift the hood at the same time! I used to do it on my bondo'd Honda.
That wont work. He has no friends and no woman. He's a bald asshole who cam blame them.
Some one got a new MacBook, nice! I bought the new GoPro Hero 7 Black, same problem. But i realised when I leave the video in iMovie after hour playback works normaly. But takes more time to proces that 4K 60p just for playback. Si if it stutters you cant watch what you recorded and edit it normaly. I can't aford a new 15" MacBook Pro so I record in 4K 30p. CPM is Europe is that good. 😅
Are you Mike starting to film 4K in the future? I make all my videos in 4K all my car reviews.
I love the channel Mike!! It makes my day every time I get to watch an upload from you!! I hope you have a happy holiday season!! God bless ya brother!!!
Pull the cable with some pliers since it probably slipped off or broke from the plastic pull handle on the inside..just pull the handle and feel the cable then yank it if it came off..and then replace or jumpstart battery
Yup
That camera is way more valuable than that Chevy... 😂 😂 That’s amazing!!!
It sound like the cable broke go under the car and look you should be able to see the latch and open the hood from underneath chrisfix has a good video on how to do this then jumpstart it a drive it
Chrisfix has a video of how to open a hood with bad latch
Put a new battery in, you'll double its value...
How do I take out an O2 sensor out of a Honda Civic it is never been taken out before to replace it
It's a 1998 Honda Civic
You be in the car jamming to the old Skool hip hop joints!!! YEEESSS!!!! I love it 👍
I liked the little music clips. Its nice to see another side of you. Even though it didn't go as planned. It was still a great video!
When I heard the dead battery, my first thought was, “‘oh no!! The hood don’t open”. And i was right. I did remember about the bad hood
A clicking noise/quick tapping noise indicates that the battery is low on voltage to where the starter won't turn over. The starter will run, but it doesn't have enough energy from the battery to start the car efficiently
I have a similar problem when I pull my hood release. The spring isn't strong enough to open it so I have to wedge something in the hood making it try to spring up. After I do that, when i pull the lever it opens up. Try wedging a tennis ball or something where you tried to pull up and maybe that will work. I now leave my spare truck on a trickle charger so my battery doesn't die on me anymore. ZOOM looks nice.
I was watching the video, saw that the hoopdie was dead and i thought, just pop the hood and jump it with the F150. but sadly i had forgotten that the hood would not open! LMAO!
Strip the Hooptie, let it be rained on, snowed on 😂 great video as always Mike, and that Mavic Zoom looks awesome, would love to get my hands on one 😉
Mike, I a buddy of mine had a similar Corolla with the same hood issue. I went under the car & tracked down the hood cable. We cut it & then pulled it with some locking vice grips, popped the hood open.
Maybe some brake fluid on the latch?
,lmao
Must be the bearings in the muffler
@@BENYEET Nah,must be the blinker fluid. It's connected to the latch,y'know?
Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Joe Budden looks like the Pokémon Voltorb.
When you manage to get the hood up (Viagra usually works), have the alternator tested before buying a new battery. If the alternator is defective it won't charge a battery -- even a new one. Alternators can be either repaired or replaced fairly cheaply. Also check the battery terminals. If there is corrosion, rust or dirt on them, clean them with a fine sandpaper.
Most fuse blocks have a 100amp cable. Maybe you could try to charge it with a normal battery charger, either on that terminal or else put a 10amp (or less) battery charger through the accessory port. If your battery would hold a charge, (and you didn't mind having the jumper cables near the metal behind the fuse block, you might be able to charge the battery using the 100amp bolt post. Though this small vehicle might be able to start using a 100amp, I would lean toward only charging that way because of the fuses involved.
Jack up the car, safely support it and see if you can access the heavy positive cable connection at the starter. Hook up the positive cable of a battery charger to that positive cable connection and the negative to any ground. The charger should charge up the battery and/or start the engine if it has a quick start capability. Alternately, you can hook up regular jumper cables to that positive connection and a ground to jump start the engine. It doesn't solve the hood latch problem but at least you can drive it around.
Never had a Instagram acct. So glad I can be part of this drawing. Been a FB like and follower for awhile now.
4:59 “f it , treat yourself “ 😎 lol
The only help I would offer is what junk yard you should send that pile of crap to. 😂🤣😂
I just dealt with the hood problem on my wife’s car. You have to have 1 person, or, a coat hangar hold the hood release on the inside pulled while you lift the tab under the hood. Otherwise, ave someone hold the hood release inside the car while you push down HARD on the hood right above the latch, and try to open the hood that way. It sucks. Typically the metal cable from the hood release to the actual hood latch is broken/rusted all the way through. Took me a couple hours to replace my wife’s in her ‘04 Camry.
LOL your neighbors must think your crazy.. talking to your cars every day :P
If you can access from the bottom of the car the area where the hood release cable goes into the hood latch, you may be able to move the latch release using a long screwdriver. The cable might be off or the pull handle in the cabin may be broken, if broken there try to pull the cable with pliers. If none of that works, you could try to trickle charge the car battery if there is an "always hot" power port in the car you could get a charger that has a power port plug to try to charge the battery enough to get it started.
If you can reach the latch thru the grille opening you should be able to pull that trigger to open the hood. Get a flashlight look inside there. In many old cars you can reach from underneath the car behind bumper and reach that latch and open it. You can get a little greasy and do it. Don’t be afraid.
Snus? You need some Copenhagen Wintergreen or Grizzly. Lol 😂
Mike, I just helped my neighbor with identical hood latch problem on his Ford Explorer last night. The latch spring was rusted and didnt push the hood up when the handle was pulled. It turned out to be a 2 man job. While I pulled the handle he pulled the hood up. We were able to open it this was. Try that on the hooptie, who knows maybe it would work.
it's the Starter... That fast click click click sound it makes when you start they key means the battery should be good.
Cuf off the hood with a saw tool. cut the first foot off from the front. the latches will allow you to flip the hood up as normal . then after that see if theres a way open the hod latch. But before all this, see how much a hood costs or if one is available used on craigslist near you
Mike, get a battery tender - $44 on Amazon and keep your hoopty plugged in. Your old battery is probably still good but tired from a lack of use. I'd say get that lug wrench out of the trunk and pop that open with a little more persuasion. You already got a nice bungee cord to keep it shut if you break it. Oh and what is a facebook?
Look in the gab between the hood and bumper, there should be a cable running to the hood latch, if you cant find it, "modify" it so you can see it, grab it with something and yank. Popped hood
it broke keeping it real loving the channel keep up the great work
$35,000 from the brake fluid video...holy! Awesome to see Mike! Can't hate on that success at all considering I enjoy my "regular" job and don't put effort into YT, etc.
And next week folks you can watch this guy do his laundry and eat a bowl of cheerios!
It isn't the battery, it's the starter. As many people have said, have someone pull the lever, as you pry up on the hood. If that doesn't work, check if the hood latch cables are connected/broken.
Mike, the plastic part your pulling on to try and open the hood...it breaks off. Get some pliers and get just under the dashboard where that is, find the cable, wire tether(take your pick) use the pliers and pull. Viola do your thing. Shout out to Chicago.
Well, welcome to Sweden! I live in Sweden and I enjoy all your youtubes.
Hoopty said, "F--- that Mike, you don't love me because if you did I'd be dirty like the F-150."
You’re so nice...that zoom like $1200 😩
I am probably the only one without a Facebook account. 😂😂😂
No your not😶
Look at where the latch in the car connects and try to pull cable manually. Also since the old battery is in the trunk meaning the dealer put a new one in and dead already I suspect either alternator or parasitic power drain on the battery. You can get a cheap tester to see if the alternator is charging once you get the hood open and jump it. If it was running the day before I definitely think it's the alternator or if you find out otherwise then I suggest disconnecting the battery after driving it that way if there is something draining it, it wont be able to.
Have you tried lodging the hood release button inside the car in full unlock position while attempting to open the hood? Older cars tend to do the same thing. (No spring up action under hood)
Mike, you didn't say what you were going to do about the Chevy/Geo. Can Pipsburgh fix it?
Also, seeing how cheap it was for you and a major ROI, why not dump/sell/give away the Geo and get a "new hoopty." You can take a poll. Get a 1984 Grand National. Or a 1990's Grand Prix. There's a lot of stuff you can get, for cheap. Let us know...
The Geo was fun while it lasted. Swap it out for some new junk or old jalopy!
Should had a battery tender on the hyper hoopie.
Also on the toyota hood latch pull it back an use your middle finger up an push on the cable at same time sometimes pops it due to cable stretch
i just found a nail in my tire. not quite as lucky. Bfg ko2s 33s 12 wide on 20x10s. 1500 miles on them and i got a nail in my sidewall and it cant be patched… love the content tho Mike. Keep it up!
Finally a Facebook one!! Great videos Mike!!
The first thing i would do, is have someone pull the hood release while you pull up on the hood. If that fails, I would get some pliers and pull on the cable behind the interior hood release while someone pulls on the hood. If that still doesn't work, you'll have to try to release the hood from the latch itself.
Bust out the tools & see if the cable is still attached at the hood pull as a first pry of call! If that doesn’t work, big lever/screwdriver from under the front and pop the latch. Nipple could’ve snapped at either end 👍
They have cigarette lighter jumpers. Google it.
That shit doesnt work
cigarette lighter can take only 10AMPS MAX.
To start engine youll need atleast i guess 300-400AMPS
@@vildisvildis Cigarette lighter jumpers work fine. Granted, they're not nearly as quick as traditional jumper wires. As long as the battery can still hold a charge, then you can charge it slowly through the cigarette lighter. You don't need to push 400 amps of current through the wire at one time.
actually that would be 300-400AMPS at about four seconds. If the battery will hold a charge, you could charge it at 6-8AMPS for 200 seconds, or just over 3 minutes. If you did it for 10AMPs then, you could be less than 3 minutes. If it were me, I would probably prefer to keep the charge on for atleast five minutes, which would allow me to crank it for about 7 seconds.
Reach under the bumper and try to find the release cable and yank it by hand. The latches rust up and the cable stretches or breaks
Mike, my man. Your awesome bro. Long time subscriber here. Awesome content. Great channel growth!
What? WOW I got Spark and I got it used. Wish I could do giveaway on my channel like that one day.
Look under the dash and see if you can find the hood release cable. Use a pair of pliers to try and pull it manually.
If that doesn't work try to reach up behind the bumper and pull the cable from there.
I would just break the latch right off and pull on the cable. Hope you get the nail in the trucks tire taken care of :).
Two suggestions on hood. One see if you can get under hood release inside take cable off release handle and use vise grips to pull wire inside of cabe housing. If that doesn't work jack up front of car get under and look up at hood latch and you could use a long pipe or or 2x4 and push release lever. Also i would look at diagram of hood release system online to understand the layout of it.
Maybe the cable that releases the hood is just cut or something. You could try taking apart the dash area where that hood release is in the interior to see if you can get it to pop.
Car is saying, "Let me go Bull"! lol
You need some road wire or katzskin leather seats in the F150. When are you adding them? I say road wire. More premium. Also pull that nail or screw out of the ford. Doesn’t look deep enough to leak.
Mike, where the hood latch is under the dash should be a wire cable, use a pair of needle nose pliers and pull the latch cable it should release the hood, I had the same problem on my old 2008 Scion XBox😂
Can you please put the “AV” sticker of your truck in your shop. That sticker looks amazing. Perfect transparency. I like it
Mike have you tried having someone pushing down on the hood while you pull the inside latch?
Maybe if you can pull the latch back all the way, try sticking a pair of needle nose pliers behind the lever and grabbing the hood cable with it and pulling on it. It could just be a stretched hood cable and that might do it. Then again this could be a terrible idea but it's worth a shot.
For gosh sakes...either get 2nd person to bang down on hood while pulling the release lever or use your left hand while pulling lever with right hand. They usually open then(cable sticks). Then lube the hell out of latch and release cable while it’s open(w-d40, etc). Battery sounds dead from cold/sitting
Mike, if you get it working again, can you do a video what happens if you keep holding the key in the run position after the car has already started. I’m curious what would happen.
Damn you got my 90s jams on @ 7:50 RIP BIGGIE SMALLS!
Thanks for not involving instagram for this giveaway man
Was back from liking your page before the crickets lol 👍🏼
Is that one of the AutoVlog decal I sent you like over a year ago on the back window of the truck? Looks awesome :)
i have a 2002 toyota camry that started doing that with the hood latch if you pop it then push down real hard on the hood and then pop it again it will release after that you will need to put a spray on the latch like wd40 to keep it from sticking it does work
Hey Mike I think would you need to do is lift the car up with the Jack and then use some kind of bar or use that crowbar up front and then tried to mess with the lover cable switch to lift the hood up.
Hey check if the latch release is broken by diving into the foot well, if it is just get a pair of pliers and pull on it
Mike, once you get that hooptie running you need to start it and leave it run about 5 min every couple days during cold weather to keep the battery charged.
if you want to smoothly edit 4K video then I would also suggest making sure you have a good amound of RAM and a graphics card thats either dedicated or has some RAM that you can give it. I edit 4K all the time for my business and a good processor is a start but you need good RAM and a Graphics card to handle it.
Hello
Really fun to follow your videos.
Greetings from Sweden
The bungee cord in the trunk is to hook on the latch on the dash while you pull up on the hood outside maybe? We had to do that on our 87 Nissan maxima. 🚗🔨😎
have you tried having someone help you lift the hood or push down and lift while you pull on the release? The wire is probably loose.
There's two screws that hold the hood release lever unscrew it. You must remove the cable from the latch then use a pair of pliers and pull the cable it should release. When and if you get it open spray some WD40 or any lubricant on the latch.
Hi mike in cold weather the battery losers it’s charge a lot quicker after you manage to get the hud open get a trickle charger to keep the battery charged. Use the car mor often it needs a descent run out at least once a weak it’s no good just running it on the drive way for a few minuets it takes a 30 minute run out just to put back the charge it tuck out just to start it up hope this is of use to you ( ps there is a cable just behind the front grill grab it and se if you can pull it towards you it just mite open it ) best of luck from the uk👍👍
Have been following your facebook for a while now Mike:) Love your vids, have a great one!
Check your battery posts, see if they are tightened properly and doesn’t wiggle about. Also if that’s not the case drop in a new battery and see
If I'm not mistaken you should be able to lay underneath with a large flat head screwdriver and pop the latch where the cable goes into it's not going to be easy but it can be done old school remember
If the problem with the hood cabel is not disattached so it means your hood is stuck you can get someone to pull the leaver and you shoul wiggle the hood strongly hopefully it will open if not try reacing the relace from the grill and pull it to open
I also like your Channel... I know you like making videos and I enjoy watching them .. You do a vary good Job !!! .. I look forward seeing your videos.. Hopefully you will not run in to any problems .. So you and your Family have a good Holiday.!!! Will be looking forward to see your next video...
The cord that links the bonnet mechanism from the front to the lever mad be broken....take the dash apart and pull the cord from the inside?
To get the hood open, try having someone open the hood while you hold the latch, or someone hold the latch while you hold the hood. My car has that problem, it's not the latch, but the hood just doesnt pop up for some reason
Pry bar to rip the hood open. Punch a big hole in the hood, and use a length of chain and padlock to keep it closed. That would make it even more of a hoopty! And, when you lose the key for the padlock, "How do I open the hood, PART2!!!"
If you creep underneath the car you can unlatch it from the inside, alternatively you could use a slow charge through the cigarette lighter, just pick a cheap charger with attachment up.....
Mike, get your wife to pull the latch while you open the hood.
Once it's opened Jumpstart the battery.
15 Foot tow strap hooked to the truck and hoopty hood. Floor the truck and hood problem solved! Just throw a tarp over it when not in use👍. “ What if you pull your hood off with a tow strap”
Take the plastic covering off of the latch open part inside the car. There should be a wire which you could then use a pair of pliers and pull the hood open from the inside. Hope that helps
Try putting the car in the run position (one click before it starts) and listen for a hum or a whine if you dont hear it then replace the fuel pump
