    Great video Silk. Gaming now is about pleasing the shareholders and not the gamers now. With BF3 and BF4, DICE made the games easy to learn and hard to master. Each dlc was unique and offered new gameplay experiences. Armored Kill in BF3 and Navel Strike in BF4 are my favorites. They had to implement quality content to get people to want to buy the dlc. Now it’s just this religion now that we have to have faith in the developers, of almost every studio now, that they’ll make the games into a worthy state one day.
    The other issue is that games are being dumbed down to appeal to broader audiences. The bf2042 gun play looks and feels like the gun play of the new CoD games. The shareholders of DICE don’t care about pleasing the BF player base. They just want to siphon off the players of CoD. Bethesda games are another great example. Each consecutive Elder Scrolls game is dumbed down and made easier for the lowest common denominator. Oblivion has an incredible amount of depth in each play style. Spell crafting is so vast and you can spend multiple play throughs making discovering new combinations. There’s so many different skills. Then there’s Skyrim where everything is just a sliding scale. The spells just increase in size, damage and other basic traits. The differences in weapon categories is just damage and attack speed. Armor is just weight and defense rating.
    It’s a tragedy and it’s why I don’t play games as much anymore and have found new hobbies. Most of the games I play are older games and/or can be modded. Modern gaming needs to die for a phoenix to rise from the ashes.

    What modern FPS games need is to just cut the shit and add a Ranked queue that's separate from casual games, no more half baked SBMM in all modes. The Ranked queue with a straight up ELO system to match you against players of your skill level at all times, the casual games with a loose matchmaking system just to stop literal newbies from getting shitstomped by players with hundreds of hours.
    League of Legends has this exact thing and has been the most popular PC game in the world for years, it's mind boggling that FPS games which sell literal millions of copies can't grasp such a simple concept. Even Pokemon of all fucking things figured this out for it's online battles, but Call of Duty and Battlefield apparently can't.

    As the years have gone by competitive gaming has become more of a thing, although this appeals to the competitive/skill scene people who enjoy playing games Casually are affected by this. Since the majority of the player base is casual, gaming companies will appeal to the casual player base as its more profitable. Games should be easy to learn but hard to master, being rewarded for being good gives you incentive to practice, if you take that away it eliminates the need to grind and it eliminates a goal, less people play it because there is less reason to when u have nothing to strive for. My prediction: Gaming will continue to get worse, eventually one title will be released which appeals to the formula above and it will revive gaming (It will be a hit game) then the markets will compete with it, at the moment the market is competing with profit and abusing the fan base, eventually this will stop working but its no telling how long it will take. Until then gaming will continue to get worse.

    Letting (and allowing!) the player to know how skilled he or she is at the game, seems to help with capturing the player for the longterm. It becomes a challenge to become better and improving your skills and stats. CounterStrike is a good example, as is Rocket League even. That game is centered along ranks. For me trying to become the rank of Champ became a challenge. Now its Champ 2, 3 and higher. This works. If there wasn't such ranking system, I would have probably left that game ages ago.

    Coincidentally , in the last month I have felt like mm was manipulating win rate in BF2042. The squad I play with had gradually increased win rate over the last weeks only for a loss streak to kick in over last weekend, 10+ losses in a row across conquest and breakthrough. Bar one they were crushing defeats, irrespective of how we played.

    • @Deliverygirl
      @Deliverygirl Год назад +2

      Back in BF3, 4, 1 and V me and my friends who always played together hovered above 80% winrate consistently in every game. In BF1 frontlines we had a +90% winrate after a year of playtime.
      In these new SBMM riddled games it feels almost impossible to get close to that winrate. BF2042 is especially bad because now the game is 128 players, so even if we are much better than the average players there are too many players in the game for our impact to matter that much (this is why smaller game modes are easy to stomp with a squad of good players, less players = more impact from each individual in the final outcome).
      Even if in MW we win a lot more often than not, a lot of games feel totally rigged and like an insane uphill battle that is not deserved. And a lot of games feel like total free wins.
      It's unrewarding and boring.

    So, My opinion about how FPS games are today compared to the previous games. Are some major components.
    In general, The Formula needs to stay the same, Otherwise you will lose Veteran Players that enjoy your games and stripping the core elements that make a whole brand-new experience was not a good Plan. Battlefield 2042 in this case, is a game that was released too early, Alpha Tested and offered the players the ability to play the BETA. Which isn't a bad game... Just a lot of the core elements are not balanced. . . I like to think there are key Features that are missing, and they wanted to make a true battlefield game. Trying a new 128 player game mode, that flunked badly.
    I could theorize if battlefield 2042 was to become a Modern 6th / 7th Generation FPS game... What the company needed to do is work on Spawn placement. Matchmaking. Map design. Vehicle Design and Spawn locations. "Restrictive area Expansion." and a lot more things they could do, But haven't yet... Which Faith be told is failing.
    Speaking, Being a professional gamer and been playing games since I was young, FPS gaming at least... Should have never released the game after it's testing... The Senior Developer & The Senior Publisher. Gave the Okay to release this game after it's testing phases... To prove a point, FPS games would be a lot more fun if they remained at it's core.
    THIS game should have come After Battlefield 4... Battlefield 6. Instead, we get a game that implies "Super Selective Soldiers" that do extraordinary things that a normal foot soldier could do.
    I Digress, FPS games are Failing, Badly, and they are not as fun as they used to be because Game development is not utilizing more... Also don't have a mature spokesperson to address the core problems, Acting like that nothing is wrong with the Core problems and not fixing them... I still play the game, Because It is a time killer. But, They need a better strategist in their department.

This could be because devs no longer have the desire to develop challenging things or they have realized that the people that are playing the games are not really caring about how the game is played like you said with the store in this video I also want I mention something that you mentioned in an older video but I feel like nepotism might have a lot to do with what we are seeing in game development industry wide .

    It is an interesting discussion. And speaking of CSGO, that game is more popular than ever. It hasn't been dumbed down over the years, yet it still pulls a bigger audience than ever before in its life. So clearly people do value a game with vast mechanical depth that is laser focused on gameplay. What i want to say from personal experience on those tinfoil theories is that after with MW19 to me the CoD games got incredibly inconsistent and random. It feels like the game just wants you to die. And to me it can't be just "SBMM". I have played games like CoD and CS against very good players, but it has never felt like it does in the current CoD titles. In CS if i got destroyed i could tell it was because i was simply playing worse. Can't say that for MW2 for example. And you can clearly tell when the matchmaking gives you an easier game, one of the big things that ruined the game for me and made me quit.

    One other thing that I'm seeing a lot of games doing now is just simply following trends and always needing microtransactions in the game. It's just old and sorta sad that you can pay full price for a game but they're still wanting to put microtransactions into the game, some circumstances it's understandable with indie games and cheap or free games but it's just getting out of hand honestly. I'm straying more and more away from AAA titles and more towards indie because of how often theres just microtransactions left right and centre along with battle royales and now sadly, extraction shooters. Tarkov and marauders does it well enough, we dont need more.

I also do not agree with not being able to lock onto it with a missile through trees were most people like to fly it. Tbf Tarkov is a _very_ different type of game from most other FPS games out there. In a way it reminds me of Dark Souls a lot, where you go in with the expectation that you're going to die an absolute fuck ton just to make progress. It's fun though, even if the devs are pretty sleazy it's refreshing to have an FPS game with no handholding as you said.
      Can't wait for AAA devs to copy it's formula, dumb it down, and then milk it to death like what happened to PUBG and BR games

    Going to be honest, I don't particularly notice BF4 having exceptionally more of a skill ceiling for it's mechanics than BF1. It's a very easy game, both of them are. Tanks behave quite similarly (Albeit you can be far more aggressive with them in BF1 because of AT differences), and dogfighting between the two is essentially the same. Though, I'd argue BF1 improves on dogfighting by removing the arbitrary "313" speed control. (Hitting 313 Velocity was easy to the point of making it a redundant addition. Putting full focus on actual dogfighting technique was vastly better for gameplay.)
    I'd say BF1 is easier for 2 things though, those being sniping and level design. However, in regards to the latter, that's more of a result of BF4s (imo) very poorly thought out level design. Which arbitrarily made the game more difficult. Outside of that though, both turn out the same in my opinion, in regards to skill ceilings and floors. Do you have a video elaborating more on why you think so? Curious on more of your opinions on this.

    I play a lot of battlefield 2042 and my biggest issue is the player base who are all out for themselves, no one plays as a team or communicates. I would like to see much longer respawn timers; that would stop players doing stupid things, not caring how many times they died. I would also like a decent Internet speed lol.

    I think fornite and BRs is the worst thing that happened to fps. It all about money. Cie chasing trends to do as much money as their competitor is a problem. Especially for BF. BF has its formula and should just make it better. If the game is solid, players will come. There is plenty of ways of making money over the player base is there.

    Unpopular opinion: Season passes SUCK. I hate them in every game i've played in the past 5+ years. You want £15 from me every 3 months so I can attain a broken "skin" that makes me invisible in shadows? And gun "skins" that add attachments to weapons that you can't add normally? Especially in games like Destiny 2 (different genre I know) where the power level increases by 10 every 3 months and there's repetitive seasonal challenges which you have to complete over and over and over and... just feels like the casual gamer is ALWAYS left behind with this new model that game studios have adopted. I would LOVE to see a studio bring back DLCs, I get so nostalgic remembering my utter excitement for DLCs with games like COD Ghosts, getting all the boys hyped ready to grind the new FINISHED content... those were the days

    • @swector_unit4257
      @swector_unit4257 Год назад

      For me, I hate buying DLCs because they find a way to make them separate for the community and it is not that fun. Like for example for bf4 I didn't like how all 4 of the DLC's are locked behind a paywall and when me and my friends want to play together. Either I don't have that pack or they don't and it is so annoying that we want to play something but it is behind a paywall. So for Seasons passes you can actually choose if you want to buy it or not due to all of the major stuff like maps, weapons, and any other cosmetics being for free for games like 2042. Like I do agree Season Passes are a bit dumb when there is something that you may want that is either too long to get or behind a paywall and yes I will take a Season Pass any day than buy a DLC that is just way too expensive.

      Unfortunately sandstorm will forever live in the shadow of the success of Insurgency Source.
      Poor launch, no campaign, weak performance and UE4 meant community mods took years to come out and by the time we got them, the game was pretty much dead.
      Ins2 has amazing gunplay and smooth movement thanks to the source engine, Sandstorm has arguably worse maps and feels clunkier.

If i tell them that the game is rigged or that there is sbmm and damage based match making in the game and more stuff that is unfair, than they tell me thats not true and that i must not believe everything on youtube.
