Nice review boss. Sound/image on point too.
Thanks dude! After recording and watching it on my computer, I was pretty stoked. My wife even goes "wow, that's so much better". Appreciate your help my dude.
I did not know this existed but I need it
Ha! Glad I could help
Nice review, Joe! Looks like a nicely designed bench! Cool attachments, too!
The attachments are cool man. I'm really excited to see what they have cooking. Lots of possibilities
Great looking piece. I love my ironmaster V2 especially for small spaces.
Ironmaster has always made a solid bench. Definite contender with the Prime for best bench with accessories
This bench looks fantastic. I think I will wait to see how compatible it will be with the prodigy line (I have the single stack) and potential other attachments. Knowing how much shipping can be with Prime, it will make sense to order everything at once (fingers crossed on a reasonable lead time).
Great idea. Adam at Garage Gym Lab has the single stack and this bench, so he'll definitely have some direct feedback there.
Pretty interesting bench! Would love to see the "gripper" style vinyl you see on the high end benches like the Thompson Fat Pad
I definitely think that is an area they could improve or add as an option.
Looks great!
So far so good. Likely some things they could improve. But I really like the attachment options.
What an awesome piece. I am looking forward to the full review. For me, attachment options are less important, but at the end of the day versatility is king!
Yeah I totally get that. For us, the leg curl/ext is a deal breaker. And the other stuff is the fun stuff. I think there is some opportunities to improve here, but I like the concepts and creativity. Hoping we see this influence others as well.
@@GrayMatterLifting I’ve actually never had a leg curl/extension bench that I’ve liked. I definitely understand it’s a deal breaker though. You’re a strong dude, what’s been your best bench style leg curl experience?
@@TheKurtlocker the current FT2 is pretty good. Since you can hook it up to the cable system, it feels a lot more machine like.
Finally some info on this bench. Prime's release of this product has been pretty clumsy to say the least
The last update I got, was June 2023... so they are a bit behind lol
Looks pretty cool! If you can get a leg curl/ext and a 45 hyper out of it too, it'd be amazing. Great video Joe
Yeah man, the leg developer is the key for me. The back extension is an added bonus. But I REALLY need to see the leg piece.
Very cool looking bench. The removable head rest is pretty cool. I think the 18" height and no way to store vertically would be non starters for alot of home gymers.
The vertical storage was the first thing I told them, and said exactly what you said "deal breaker for home gym owners"... they have a fix coming that will likely be standard once it releases.
Greay review Joe. If I hadn't recently taken delivery on a REP 4100 bench, (which I love, BTW), I'd seriously consider this one. Are all the attachments included in the $725 price, or are they extra?
Extra. Prime's stuff is expensive, but that's what happens with overbuilt and American Made stuff.
REP is always a good choice for a bench.
I'm not jumping on this until I see the leg curl attachment. That's the deal maker/breaker for me. It seems like only two companies make a quality bench with a leg curl attachment.
I'm actually 100% with you. I'm waiting on mine to do a full review.
Very cool bench. Of all the options, I think having the top portion of the bench removable is my favorite. The downside to this bench, by the time you get all the attachments you’re into it for a grand. But it is versatile and very different from other offerings.
Oh yeah, it's not gonna be a cheap investment. To be fair, a leg developed attachment from any other company is a few hundred bucks. Add a 500 bench on, and you are almost there. So it'll be interesting to see where this bench lands price wise. But it isn't gonna be cheap.
@@GrayMatterLifting Very true. I think if I didn’t have my Isolator, this would be more appealing. With more and more multi-purpose units coming on the market every day, I think it makes more and more sense to plan out your gym build.
I cannot wait for the leg curl/ext attachment.
I'm hoping it shows up before I get to finishing the review. Cause for me that's the 1 and only REQUIRED attachment. The others are awesome, but I absolutely need the leg curl/ext.
@@GrayMatterLifting besides prime’s IG, has it been seen in the wild? I feel like I’d be dead buy the time it’s released. Still waiting on the adjustable super squat bar…
@@bulaclacjnot that I'm aware of. I'll ask Prime if they have any details on when I might see one show up.
Interesting bench. If you can, here are a few points I'm curious about for the final review video that you mentioned: how is assembly, do they charge shipping, how long is the back pad, how many adjustment angles are there, height, is it suitable for powerlifting standards.
I'll take note of all of these and include in the review. Thanks dude!
Awesome to get some details on this bench finally! Have the Prime HLP rack and have been waiting for this. Seeing what the strength curve / smartcam options are going to be when connected to the prodigy rack will be the deciding factor for me. Pretty disappointed in the details though - not grippy vinyl, the ladder adjustments, no full stretch on preacher curls, handle not knurled, etc. Feel like I’m probably going to pass, and will just end up ordering a few of their Hybrid machines instead.
If you can handle adding dedicated machines, definitely the correct approach. I think this bench has some great options, but as you noted, some fairly low hanging fruit to address to improve too.
Great review! This truly is a game changer bench if they incorporate the leg curl/extension option. Do you know if that would include a lock down pad for the thighs to do seated leg curl?
It doesn't seem like the padding is that thick on the bench though? Also, as others have said, I'm not a huge fan of the color scheme, but hey, I can deal with that if it delivers all that functionality.
Looks like Prime has the adjustable bench on their site with basic version for $675. Want to change the color add $150. Seems like the Elbow Pads ($225) and Decline Pad Attachment ($150) are additional, so for just that setup looking at $1,200!!!! Prime is insane with their prices! So I can only imagine what the other add-ons are going to push the price to. This bench will end up costing more than my whole gym setup.
I'm not positive on details for the leg curl/ext. I'm hoping I get something soon, but nothing yet.
The bench pad is very thin, and unfortunately slick. I think the bench has some awesome options, but is lacking in a few departments. a lot is riding on the extra attachments
Been waiting on this one! I’d imagine it’s not going to be very cheap though…
Prime and Cheap are rarely in the same sentence.
Thanks for the review! I have been looking for a shoulder stool that I can also use for preacher curls. I will order one soon. Off topic, do you know if the Prime Fitness adjustable RO-T8 Pull up station would fit inside a Rouge Monster RM-6?
Hoping to finish the full review soon, but I'm waiting on their leg developer piece to do so.
I'm not positive on the pull-up piece.
@@GrayMatterLifting Sorry for all the questions... does that have an eta for the leg piece?
@@Barnhiselfamiy no worries dude. Nope, I've seen renders, but that's it. Until things actually release from Prime, I don't like to give ETAs, as they run pretty far behind schedule
I think the ironmasters still wins because of the cable tower and pull up/dip attachments.
Totally fair assessment. I enjoyed my Ironmaster when I owned it.
Ooooo. New sound and camera 📷
Took a big leap forward today for sure. Goal is to do a little more, a little better, each time...
@@GrayMatterLiftingyour mom will love this she can see your face
@@carps_gymlmao. You the man
Man what a great and versatile bench. Everything I want and could need. I've always dreamed of having some prime equipment but my stupid wallet is always empty lol
Damn wallet. Gotta find a patch for that hole.
Does the decline attachment come with the bench or is that an optional extra?
Pretty positive all the attachments are extra
I was confused at the beginning, I thought that this bench was the original bench on their website (Adjustable bench/or Prime Steel XL bench), but its the shorty bench as you described it. I did not know they were coming out with a new bench, very cool. I have one question as I was going to buy the Prime Fitness Original bench on their website, and just recently emailed them to ask them if you can stand the bench upright and store it out of the way. They stated that the bench does not have that feature. Does the shorty bench have that feature? I have a small one car garage gym with 2 incline benches and want to purchase another bench replacing my old Rep Fitness FD 3000 as you can not store it upright when not using it. I almost purchased the Sorinex Incline bench, however they are wanting to charge me $1,100 for shipping on a $1,000 bench which is ridiculous in my opinion. If you can store the shorty bench upright, I may just hold off and wait for the release. Thanks for the review, very detailed and to the point.
Hey my friend! As of right now, the Shorty Bench does NOT store upright. I have a text from my friends at Prime, claiming they are working on adding that for the launch. I told them specifically, for the home gym world, that it is a crucial piece to the puzzle. So... Currently, no. In the future, Yes.
Depends on price. But having the leg extension and lying leg curl to attach to my single stack would be a game changer for the home gym.
I agree. I don't have pricing details yet, but I'm thinking for those already in the Prime ecosystem, this is gonna be on the short list. Even if you have to save a few months budget to make it happen 😂
@@GrayMatterLifting yep and sell my AB-5000 to soften the price. If someone had the prodigy rack and this bench you basically have whole gym capabilities.
@@cameronbatkoyep!
Can the decline attachment be flipped to do Nordic curls as well?
No it cannot. It pops in in a very specific way.
@@GrayMatterLifting ahh gotcha! I hope they get the leg ext attachment out soon
@@sagerkoheel3068 me too!
A segment on your sound/video upgrade would be awesome, much improved!!
I'm writing something up actually. I'm planning to cover my camera, lights, sound, as well as some of the stuff in my office, programs I use, etc. And include some notes from other dudes I connect with.
Plan is for it to be an article, as it'll have a solid amount of links and I just find that to be a little easier to manage.
Appreciate the note, I'm very happy with the upgrades I made.
Does back pad extension come with the shorty at $725 ?
@@MrSixxshooter yeah it should. It's part of the stock bench
@@GrayMatterLifting thank you .
@@MrSixxshooter you bet. If you end up grabbing it, I believe my discount code should save ya a few bucks.
Joe do you know when prime is gonna release this bench to the public?
Last update I got was June 2023. So no, not yet. I'll poke them.
I own the original version 1 of this bench and I would disagree that version 2 is more valuable/upgrade than the first version. Why make different attachments for bicep curls when there the 1st version does the same exact thing? nothing innovative imo. Theres more instability on the bench where the head rests or body rests on bench extension attachment.
If you are dead serious about preacher curls/dumbbell curls dont buy the short bench, just buy the stand alone double sided preacher curl made by primefitness for cheaper price compared to buying the shortbench with all the attachments. A bench has its limits and its not worth sacrificing the solidity of the bench. Just my honest opinion. Btw the review was solid, thank you.
Solid feedback. Only negative for preachers on a dedicated unit, is not everyone has the space. I have the space for a bench and attachments that store away. I don't have space for a dedicated preacher curl stand.
@@GrayMatterLifting yes I agree for people without the space.
Price and release date though?
Don't have either unfortunately. I was told June, that clearly didn't happen. They said before end of the year. I guess we'll see.
I'd like to see a company make a stand alone DB tray bench that the trays adjust with every angle on it located where the user will unrack and potentially re-rack. At first I thought Prime was taking a stab at it from the video thumbnail, then in the video I see it's for DB and EZ bar preacher curls.
Also, I'm not a fan of their catch ladder design...it reminds me of some of the low end benches that could potentially make their way loose and cause a bad situation.
What's your thoughts on the need for the angles of the DB tray? Not seeing it in my head as to what that would do.
@@GrayMatterLifting
I meant height adjustments for the trays to match the bench angles (flat, incline, possibly decline). That would be nice just as a stand alone DB bench station.
@@DeepVoicedOne ah! Gotcha
Great informative review but $725, I'll pass
Totally fair. Is there a price range you'd be in for? Or just not your type of home gym machine?
3 months later, still can't buy it. *grumble grumble*
Trust me. I'm getting tired of having to reply to those questions lol
Looks like tolerances aren’t great, I see a lot of wobble here. Then there’s the god awful green accents… pass
One of the big pieces that has been interesting, is the bench likely needs some tightening over the course of multiple uses. So I think that accounts for some of that play. We'll see after a few months and some tightening if it continues.
The green doesn't bother me personally, but I understand those with more particular tastes wanting the customization options, or at least for it to not be so noticable.
Same old, outdated design.
Same guy that said the same thing on Reddit?
