No lie, I started learning Spanish recently (and this show was the final thing to make me dive into it) and I can actually understand some of what is going on! I understood a joke! Around 7:45, they are talking about how standup isn't very big in south America, and I think Fabrizio says they are like, 500 comedians (and then jokes, "like, 3 good ones" and they both laugh) competing over only a handful of venues. Someone who actually understand spanish please tell me how I did with that. I keep putting these on after lessons while I'm doing dishes or some shit, and it is super cool when I think I understand what it going on. Nobody speaks spanish near me, so this is one of the only ways I can hear a casual conversation.
That feeling is awesome when you suddenly and without effort understand parts of a conversations. It happened to me when I was learning English. I used to watch Conan O'Brien and didn't understand anything. One day I managed to understand a joke too, and that encouraged me to keep learning.
issustaita thanks for the reply! I have always struggled with foreign languages when I was in school. It is nice to have success and keep going without being discouraged by failing tests and getting embarrassed in class hahaha.
You got it! You are on your way. This podcast could be a good way to learn a new language for you, keep it up! With every new podcast you will understand more and more words... then full sentences... then eventually you will get most of it.
Ahora que me tocó estar afuera me di cuenta que uno se ve en la obligación de cambiar un poco el hablamiento o si no, no te entienden 😂😂. Sobre todo con alguien que no es nativo (español)
Awesome podcast, if you don't speak Spanish, this could help while laughing. This was cool to see that tom is being the bridge in comedy with Spanish and English. This way we can learn spanglish.
The main reason Argentinians speak with that "sh" sound is because of the minority languages of Italy that mixed with the criollo accent spoken in Argentina at the time the Italians were emigrating to the Americas. For the longest time, they didn't speak like that, but by the time you got well through the 20th century it had long assimilated into the Buenos Aires accent. You can hear the same thing with a lot of Italian accents because of the dialects spoken there.
Tomcito, te amo. Has generado gran interés por el idioma español gracias a tu show enfocado en insultos. Jajajaja! Así deberían ser todos los cursos de idiomas. Buena estrategia de marketing.

I really want to thank you for doing these podcast Tom. I don't imagine they'll have massive views (yet) but as a spanish/north american who is very intrigued in comedy, this might be the straw that broke the camels back. You are discussing and educating your viewers on comedy in a way that isn't direct, but clearly shows the process and effort it takes to be a real working comedian. I haven't seen anything like it really, and seeing you learn and learning with you has been a very gratifying experience. Please don't stop doing these until you start doing massive shows in south america. Thanks to the team too the production is awesome, even in another language.
I enjoyed the podcast with Fabrizio. The conversation was great and added so much more entertainment and added, in my opinion, to your understanding of the difference expressions and meaning of words from different parts of Latin America.
