The Houndmaster is one of the buggiest killer releases we have had in recent times, and Taurie Cain's perks are completely not noob friendly. As it is right now, I do not recommend anyone to purchase this DLC.
@MintSkull I prefer playing Huntress (despite i'm not so good with her) because is more easier. And yes his skin is a scam because is not worth it 20 dollars by replacing a cool and cute Cane Corso for a Poodle and it makes me angry that the skin is visceral rarity and i doesn't come with a mori like were elk, true form and Naughty Bear that are even 95% even more worth it than a useless skin that doesn't offer nothing.
I hope they do. I feel like with Nemesis it's not as bad as you do not rely on the Zombies as an active part of your power, but with Houndmaster your entire power is AI based. They even explained that the Guards work in a completely different way compared to the Dog, who is the first "true" AI killer power.
A winter killer release with ai power which clicks with me on a personal level, which wasn't happening in a long time before that, turns out to be extremely buggy and unloved by community. I am getting a feeling of deja vu
Regarding her visceral legendary, there is a reason why it's visceral rarity. On the day she released there was a stream BHVR did where they confirmed that Visceral Legendary skins were changing to ALSO include skins that changed a killer's power. So expect all skins that change a power to be this expensive.
Honestly I kinda wish she had like 2 dogs with her, one for search and one for chase. I feel like right now it's very hard to actually use her powers consistenly. Also I don't get why the dog isn't allowed to actually damage the survivors. Like we have huntress who can throw hatchets across the map, victor who can latch on and damage survivors, the unknown with their uvx, the knight's guards and tricksters with his knives. We have so many killers who can damage from afar that it's weird the houndmaster can't. At the moment the houndmaster's chase power just feels like a worse deathslinger, because atleast reeling in the survivors as deathslinger is way more consistent that snug at the moment.
I also think having to switch between chase and search is annoying. Why can’t we have designated keys/triggers to do what we want? Having to switch between them is irritating when u forget to, especially within chase.
Dude you just saved me from thinking buying the visceral cosmetic. And if I’m being honest, Snug looks cooler and more menacing than the poodle. People literally bought the cosmetic because of the dog, literally the only reason and I’m guessing BHVR knew about the dog hype that they decided to manipulate it for money. People are just blind these days, willing to pay as much money just for a power customization, I bet you whatever cosmetic she will get in a future collection would probably be 20x better than her visceral cosmetic. I own all the killers so I bought her also lol, but yeah, I have to agree that the bugs are excruciatingly annoying but when you do get that dog hit, even a possible snipe by his Redirect, it feels so damn satisfying. But cosmetic NOT worth it
What I don't get is why tf, The Dog runs all the way back to the Houndmaster after the power, rather than just teleporting back?! Viktor literally Teleports Back when Charlotte isn't using him, Hell Viktor is literally way better than Snug, even if their powers are practically similar, grab and scan and hit....They are practically the same killer but one can be infinitely player controlled while the other is based on some paced direction and system that is beyond illogical....
I find it interesting to use the Dog to catch survivors with houndsense. It's like a boomerang or like Zoe's Q from League where you can redirect the dog after the search ends and track survivors inbetween. I think the dog should teleport only after a certain duration as a guarantee, but it should still return on foot.
Nah I get it, if the dog always teleported, Houndmaster would not feel like she's controlling a pet at all. The dog is supposed to feel like you are ordering an AI companion around, not like a projectile
I agree with what you said except for Issue #5 - Why is that an issue? Not every perk has to be new player friendly. It's healthy that the game has a variety of perks for all sorts of players and it's fine for some of them to be niche and just fun to mess around with or more difficult to use than others. Also to say that Shoulder the Burden is trash in solo Q is a bit harsh. You might not get consistent plays as you would with a swf, but I've seen survivors in SoloQ hellbent on protecting someone getting tunneled and succeeding. Yeah, it might not be an instant value perk but having control over the killer taking out someone early or not is powerful regardless of swf or soloq.
I've played her a lot since release, and I can say she's strong, but with these bugs she looks ridiculous. I loved playing with her, she's super fun, but every macth had a bug with this dear dog. Many times I would tell the dog to attack, and he simply wouldn't go, or he would hit a small corner and stop. His collision is TERRIBLE. The search command is super buggy. You can barely aim at the generator you want properly, and often the dog stops halfway because it got stuck on something on the map. This happened EVERY game I played with her, but Ormond was the worst, where she simply couldn't get to a generator in the corner of the map. They have to fix a lot of bugs in her, because she doesn't need buffs... She just looks weak because of the wonderful bugs.
We cannot forget dogs search pathfinding. I played on yamaokas and sent him to a gen thats straight in front of me. He made a turn around the entire main building. I feel like shes a twins case were shes buggy af on release but they will fix her slowly. But by the time they do no one will rlly play her
On top of all that, you forgot to mention how poor her visual design is. She's meant to be a pirate but looks nothing like one. She's also not very visually pleasing to look at either. If the goal was to sell skins, they're gonna have to do better than that. I'd rather buy skins for the Dredge, and he's a turkey monster.
My relationship with the houndmaster is a toxic relationship, I get frustrated upset and yell at how dumb this killer is but my god its so fun when it works out and i keep coming back
They should do two things: make the dog spectral, meaning he only spawns when you call upon him (or stand still so you can pet him) and that spawn should ALWAYS be beside you And the dog should down players who are deep wounded, incentivising you to use houndsense and make a fairly alright gameplay loop of search > chase > down
The only problem i see with this is that it would incentivize tunneling as if you hit someone after they are unhooked, the survivor is left with very little counterplay.
I think the Pirate with a Dog concept is kind of strange. I think this would have been cooler if she was a lion tamer with a lion instead and could have been friends with the clown in the lore.
I've been saying this since the Hound Master was available in the PTB: She feels like playing The Twins with extra steps, and those extra steps make her worse
Some bugs are to be execpted with every killer release, but we should NEVER have a twins release when we are 8 and a half years into the game's lifespan, its honestly digusting that bhvr threw this out and expected us to be happy, really shows what they think of us doesn't it
The game itself is starting to break due to the spaghetti code. They really need to prioritize a DBD 2-like game. Rebuild everything from the ground up and move all player progress over. Unless they want the game to physically cease functionality soon.
In all honesty, she is an incredibly powerful killer, even with the dog bugging out. I have 2500hrs, and play very competitively every game, and other than my PTB games, I've only lost 1 game with her which was a 3-man out on Lerys.
I feel a little disappointed by the aesthetic of the killer too. While I like the idea of a killer using a dog as their power, I don’t think she should’ve been the pirate killer. Playing as her doesn’t feel like playing a pirate at all, unlike Dracula where you actually feel like you’re playing a vampire or Oni where you feel like a samurai. I think her power feels more like playing a sheriff or some other authority figure. And the other issue is that her design doesn’t make her look like a pirate at all. No eyepatch, no hook, no wooden leg etc. hopefully her skins can save her design because I could not tell she was a pirate when I first saw her reveal.
She's not a pirate. She hunted pirates, but she's not a pirate. If she was the "pirate killer", her title would be The Pirate. Not The Houndmaster. If anything, the pirate killer we do get in the future is the pirate captain Molak that was taken by the Entity before she could kill him. HE would be our pirate killer. Not sure why people seem to think that just because pirates were in her lore automatically makes her the "pirate killer".
Heres my idea to fix her: Dog injures upon catching a survivor. This immediately makes her chase power 10x more rewarding, since currently its just a worse deathslinger. Also, when a dog detects someone, you should be able to chase from wherever the dog is (example, if you searched a generator across the map, and the dog detected someone on the gen, you could activate chase from across the map allowing you to injure. If you think that's too strong then how about just making it so houndsensed survivors are injured when grabbed. Would make search useful at the very least
if you make the dog injure then she's the best character in the game. well second best. she can just wait for dog to release then just insta down evryone
Being able to enter attack mode when he detected someone is actually a really good idea, but the dog being able to injure upon latching might be the worst take in dbd history, which says alot
He bought them under the pretense that it would be like previous cosmetics of that tier. Naughty Bear is 15 dollars, and with that, you get a new model, new sounds, new voicelines, and a new mori. Houndmaster's is 20 and with nothing else except for the different dog model. No exclusive voicelines, no new animations, nada
I am a content creator. The money it cost to buy that skin I get back with the video. I buy it to show other people what they can expect when buying it, which is 0 voicelines, 0 new animations ingame and barely any impact ingame to warrant it being the most expensive. With True Lord or with Naughty Bear I feel like a different character.
@@flamedramon68 I think it was more so just because they're a content creator and to show it. . . Literally half of what you mentioned there shouldn't be a "pretense" since before you even buy it, literally almost half if not half of what you mentioned you can physically see before even buying it. You can check the mori before you buy it in the store. . . You can physically see the model isn't new. . . You can see she is very clearly the same character. I'm not defending the skin, the skin is absolutely trash imo and not worth the price. But if you bought it not knowing half those things then that's something that is just on you for actively ignoring what it shows you.
@@MintSkullits okay your just paying for a new snug look and a new name lmao but i agree i felt ripped off as soon as i played her i love hound master but something needs to change with the skin besides the name change and snug look
@@Jonrocks7tbf I feel like releasing half of your characters in bad/unstable way is crazy, but at the same time ow2 does the same thing with their heros.
great video, one critique, when you talk about perks like this, it would be nice if you started by saying what the perk DOES.. Coz i had to look each one up when you brought it up coz i dont have them or know what they do yet.
Had a teammate that did 2 invocations in the basement at the start of the game. Wasting so much time. They even knew it was an Oni but they still use the perk. Taurie became his private blood offering stash the whole game and had power ready in every situation.
Its not fair to compare Vecna and Dracula to her power wise. They have more powers yes but what the powers do is simple and straightforward. Houndmaster's power is very complex. It requires path finding for both the point of being sent to and then back to a moving target. That means iit needs to consistently update its shoetest path calculations and decide on the correct one without nuking the performance. Also it needs to follow the player and also know where it can and cant go. The UI to show where the power goes also is a challenge to implement. Its very complex and I think if it wasn't ready they should not have announced it.
One possible fix for the dog would be for him to only apear when you use the power, it would solve most bugs related to his position and in general be a buff to the killer I haven't even seen people talking about how the dog can give away your location with presition.
I main her and I can confirm snug is so damn buggy it actually almost all the time ruins a chase. But when sung dose work she can be really rewarding. The worse thing about the dog is he gets stuck on so many things and just doesn’t chase
the main fix is to have bigger hitbox for the chase command, if hatchets have big hitbox why a fk dog doesnt? the whistle to use the chase command should be either removed or twik, it gives a lot of info to the survivors, where are you, what power are you using and even when you release the power "now" and when you control the dog. The dog should "slide" walls until it reaches a corner or something like that, even continue if the wall ends and recall it if you miss the shot.
I love how Vecna and Dracula have 4 powers each, all of which have ups and downs, and all of which are incredibly in depth and are very refined despite being extremely unique, and yet the Houndmaster can only send her dog forward or seek it on a survivor, and yet she is more broken then Myers. The most Dracula has suffered was being really slow when using his powers and being able to give the wolf form his cloak.
@@MintSkull Yeah it was me any my dads favorite game to play together and research says that this error is pretty much as good as a hardware ban, all because of EAC messing up somehow this update!
Gonna buy it anyways cause I'm a completionist, but I feel like this killer would've been much better if they sort of "streamlined" Snug, because right now he's a very big random factor in Houndmaster's power First, they should give Snug a predetermined amount of time it will take for him to come back to you after being sent out, and if for some reason by the time this time ends Snug is still not by your side, you should get him automatically. He already teleports to you if he gets stuck on geometry, so make him do that. (This should obviously also happen when you try to use chase and he's not next to you so you can't). Second, they should make the force he pulls survivors with fixed, because right now it feels extremely random. They should also make him pull them towards YOU - not the place you sent him from, because it makes no sense. Thrid, they should show you his travel path before he runs to a gen, because right now it's really hard to predict. I feel that if they made those changes, Houndmaster's power would be way more consistent and feel better to use
i will say the best thing about her being buggy and janky is that you can sometimes desync snug from you and then command him to start a chase from a completely different spot. i saw some clips of it, its really hard but super cool
My theory on 2 seperate rituals for invocation is that BHVR wants to make future invocations take less time and/or have softer (or harsher) penalty. And I would be completely for that. Lets hope that they cut ritual time for Treacherous Crows and give different penalty (for example, object of obsession debuff), because this perk is so bad.
There is a failsafe in place for the dog actually. It's *clearly* not being utilized often enough, but if he gets a certain distance away from you when not heading to a search location or chase location, he will actually teleport directly to your side. It even has noises and a shadowy entity effect to indicate it happening. The distance is far enough, but I do believe the time the dog is out should also be accounted for and have this happen in that situation as well. I personally have had a good experience with Houndmaster, but obviously that's not the case for most. Also I can understand their thinking for making her "Ultimate Skin" an ultimate skin. It's because the dog is different. Someone important at the office of BHVR thinks that because it's a different dog, it's a different mori, and because it's a "different mori" then it is worth more money. We can't let them get away with it without major backlash, or else they'll keep thinking that way and do it again with The Twins, or say somehow change the look of crows for Artist and charge for that too.
I only got her for her perks, the scourge hook one and the anti heal one are going to be amazing on certain killers. The lunge one is similar to balanced landing, insane on some maps and not usable on others
I like this chapter personally. It gives me memories of learning twins all over again. A little jankie, but I like it when a survivor walks, and asks if they can pet that dog.
I think the chapter is pretty good. Yes buggy af and not beginner friendly but very fun. They will fix the bugs and everything will be fine 😊 I mean, let's be honest, is there a dog without bugs/fleas hahahaha
Happend to me SO MANY TIMES! the dog gets stuck nearly everywhere or the search Was so clunky and was so hard to aim a gen or gate + it takes nearly every time the most complicated route on the entire map. And don't get me startet on the chase. Dog gets stuck on nearly EVERY CORNER or even stuck on the Houmdmaster herself😂. Costed me so many games and chases
I agree with you on almost everything, only exception being imo is the new survivor perks. I personally think having perks that are harder to use in dlcs makes more sense since they should be the last thing a new player is getting.
When I saw what Shoulder the burden announced I remembered all the times I used Empathic Connection in solo Q and all the survivors who threw me under the bus every chase. It's strictly swf and makes them even more annoying.
I did instantly buy the chapter because i hate it when a game vanish from my 100% achievement showcase, but doing adept and dog-bite hits achievs were driving me insane... even despite it took only three games to complete. The amount of times the dog did magically diappear, teleport to some roof, fall underground, etc was insane. After every single game i was more and more shocked that she really did leave beta like this...
Very weird that they didn’t change the Mori too. Cane Corso were bred for being Guard Dogs and Farming Dogs. Poodle were bred to hunt Ducks. The Mori SHOULD be different solely based on the fact these breeds are different and were bred to be different
They'll probably never include the dog actually being violent in the mori, which is pretty fucking stupid. They're afraid of backlash from making the dog too violent, so Snug can't just tear someone's throat out even though the lore describes him as Portia's fierce companion who'd scare the shit out of anyone who came too close.
I think a cool QOL/fix/buff would be if when the dog catches a survivor it by default will try its best to keep them in the same spot they were bit in until/unless The Houndmaster presses the attack bind or power bind to shout a command to her dog which instantly changes the command. The attack bind's command would be called 'To Me' which constantly pathfinds and travels the quickest route to your current location like the how The Knight's power's ai consistently pathfind to survivors while chasing them. It wouldn't cause any animations or anything so it couldn't get in the way of actually attacking, and the dog is smart enough to path to windows if the survivor is on the other side of it. The power bind's command would be called 'Backtrack' which is just the current Ai that makes the dog go back to where you called it from. Also a hot take I have for her is to let her use her power while carrying survivors since she's literally just pointing and talking. Not only would it be fun and interesting and probably not op but it would make the code the devs wrote to make her slower while in the search command not completely useless because there's no way that's lasting for long and it would actually make some sense here lmk your opinions plz so I didn't just waste my time writing this :P I like hearing them
I don’t like her lore either…I loved the idea of a houndmaster character, but it feels strange that she’s also a pirate…? Why would a pirate need hounds…? What does a dog do on a ship 💀 It feels like they couldn’t decide between a houndmaster killer and a pirate killer and just decided to smash them together. I think she should’ve been a hunter that eventually started hunting people rather than animals, just my opinion tho
Her power is not strong enough to demand so much slow down when attempting to use either search or chase. Search command is stupid. There is no reason to put any one in houndsense because hound sense doesn't do anything. Also you can target generator across the map but you can only pin something that is like 16m away if it doesn't stop because of a wall. 5:45 I did this. The dog doesn't bring them to you. I have no clue why but it doesn't. Says it's supposed to, but the survivor moved extremely fast then slow away from me. This happened on every redirect shot and long shot. The shots that where a lunge and a half I couldn't tell. 16:47 Not true I tested it. It was even easier. The survivor I caught would hit second stage multiple times, but that just means they were on the hook even longer then normal. I didn't have to chase anyone else and they get to be on second stage when I do hook them. Since everyone was trying to save them the gens were not being done effectively. Gens still got done but one person gone and everyone on second hook and I have no ed. I could've hit them while they were exposed by their perk, but I wanted to do one person at a time. I did about 5 matches. I got fed up with how garbage hound master is.
gotta agree with portia's buggy doggo, i experienced it myself, but it was bad during only one match, and the glitchiness wasn't consistant i remember sending it to distant generators and i sometimes saw it slightly wobbling as it ran to its target also on midwich i sent the dog to a gen next to one of the exits and it legit got stuck on a doorway, right next to its destination - the guy just stood there, snarling, growling, and slightly moving, like an animatronic attraction i thought that the power got permamently broken, but after a surprising amount of time, the dog finally returned an easy solution would be a "return" command - portia whistles and maybe moves her finger around, and then the dog returns to you, preventing the dog from getting stuck (and if it can't pathfind, the game should detect the dog being stuck and teleporting it to portia) then there's the power itself - if you want to select a generator, you have to stop moving and then slowly look around it until the triangle appears above it, otherwise you'll accidentally select an area that's some distance away from the object you wanted to send your dog to and if the generator is too close to you *and* it happens to be higher or lower than you, you might as well give up, or walk away from it the not-pirate is probably the first killer i played that's this buggy shortly after release
From my experience as and against her she is basically in practice Ceno with more work and absolute reliance on AI power to 'chain' survivors with mobility and tracking over natural slowdown.
The game probably wouldn't be so bad if they fixed the base spaghetti code they started with. Instead they just added to the spaghetti coding which makes it all worse.
I know there's something wrong with the Houndmaster because I played survivor for 3 hours on the the first night of release, I should've seen her in every other match but I didn't see her once; No one seems to want to use her
13:58 Just add an additional 30 seconds for each invocation you use and allow them to all be activated off one ritual. Is that too much to ask for? Do they really think using multiple invocations are so strong that you need to spend multiple minutes in the basement and remain broken for the entire match to compensate?
Listen, ive mained knight since he came out, and after playing her for a while, ill gladly say that she is nowhere near as buggy as him on launch. Most of her issues come from specific maps and perk interactions that likely didnt come into account since players in the PTB mostly play generalist and balanced maps that DON'T require you to change how you fundamentally play to win. I like her potential for mind games, and how she encourages thoughtful thinking about oppertunity cost. Shes not like Blight, Chucky or Huntress where you press a button at neutral and win, because god forbid that oppressive top teirs take an ounce of restraint or skill to play. The perks we got this update are mostly misses. I will say that Jagged Compass is the most fun i've had in a while, but her other 2 perks were designed to outclass an existing perk and make doctor even more annoying to fight. The survivor perks are unintuitive to use as theybare usually dont offer enough reward for the risk. Shoulder the Burden especially did not need to get nerfed as hard as it did since 40 seconds of exposure means you will never get value if the killer is both proxy camping and tunneling. Finally, i think spending 20 dollars on a legendary is a bit much, but i dont mind. Ive spend 60 on an unusual hat, why would i be bothered by this. Its completely optional.
the dog SHOULD have a range around the chase and search mode, maybe 2.5 meters and if close enough it grabs on. limiting it to that narrow space is ridiculous and even skilled players are put down. injures in search and deep wounds in chase. BOOM.
I get that BHVR was trying to avoid a "Boons 2.0" problem by making Invocations not OP, but having to do 2 separate invocations to activate your perks is ridiculous. Imagine if you had to boon a different totem for every boon perk you had.
Almost every multiplayer game I've seen with an AI pet like this has had the pet either be completely useless, completely broken (as in, it doesn't work) or both. The first thing that comes to mind is Daisy from Evolve from back in the day, where that dumbass dog was fundamental to track the monster yet sometimes just decided to chill under the map. Also, at this point, it's already clear that Invocations won't be any good for a long, long time, maybe ever. BHVR clearly doesn't understand how crippling being broken the rest of the match in exchange for a mediocre, niche effect is.
The only explanation for them to release her like this is: How DEVS PLAY THE GAME -They run in straight easy to catch lines. --> So the Dog can catch them. -They let go of gens the moment the killer terror radius is close. --> So the Dog can reveal their auras and show where they're running. -They hide in bad places. --> So the effect that makes them all red and shiny can show where they're hiding. The devs are so bad at their own game that they make killers that they think will counter their own playstyle and call them powerful, when in reality, nobody plays like them.
I love the houndmaster, ive been playing her non stop since release. But i have never played a video game where the new content (not on a form of ptb) has been THIS buggy. as it stands she is definitely the worst killer in the game. Its literally gg if you get sent to the swamp, as the ship and the big house will both cause your dog to get stuck and stop working, aswell as that the game will tell you the dog isnt bugged and when you try to use ur power ur dog runs off ina random direction from where it was bugged. I had a game on Lery's where there were 2 survivors left they were running to the exit gate which was open, I use my power. As long as i take my time its a gaurenteed kill. Then i shoot out my dog and IT TELEPORTED TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MAP. Aswell as this, the dog always vaccuums to a pallet even if you clearly arent pointing at it. You also get a stupid meaningless slowdown if you cancel your power, considering she is absoloutely dogshit it just makes it worse. Windows are also atrocious with the dog as it will climb the window, have a full ass margherita and then decide to rush out, meaning that unless the dog catches a survivor as it STARTS vaulting it will NEVER hit. Ive also had the dog GO THROUGH survivors. Ive had the dog cause my full hud to dissapear so i couldnt see anything aswell as the auras of generators. THIS CHAPTER IS BROKEN. Houndmaster is still very fun tho and has potential
ASWELL as this, the search mode is dogshit, if you stray slightly off the path you get no speedboost, you dont even get a speedboost if you turn around on the track. Inflicting deepwound on survivors is okay but half the time you want to commit to the chase anyway, meaning its pointless, deepwound is only good for hit and run but if you do this with her youre gonna get a 4 man out. How did behaviour think she was ready??????????
I feel like if BHVR sees this then instead of reducing the price of the legendary skin, they'll instead just increase the price of the others so they're even.
The only part I disagree with is Clean Break. I think it's already a very strong perk and if it gets a number buff it should be small. I do concede your point about it not being beginner friendly, and it is frustrating not being able to activate it yourself. I like your idea of being able to self activate it to avoid that situation. However, I do not think the numbers should be buffed.
The Houndmaster is one of the buggiest killer releases we have had in recent times, and Taurie Cain's perks are completely not noob friendly. As it is right now, I do not recommend anyone to purchase this DLC.

Such as knights guards, the hound, and definitely Nemesis's zombies
I hope they do. I feel like with Nemesis it's not as bad as you do not rely on the Zombies as an active part of your power, but with Houndmaster your entire power is AI based. Honestly I kinda wish she had like 2 dogs with her, one for search and one for chase. I feel like right now it's very hard to actually use her powers consistenly. Also I don't get why the dog isn't allowed to actually damage the survivors. We have so many killers who can damage from afar that it's weird the houndmaster can't. At the moment the houndmaster's chase power just feels like a worse deathslinger, because atleast reeling in the survivors as deathslinger is way more consistent that snug at the moment.

I think the dog should teleport only after a certain duration as a guarantee, but it should still return on foot.
because that dog and that better he go to you not teleport, come an that be borinh as fuck if he teleport to you. find allah in your heart
Nah I get it, if the dog always teleported, Houndmaster would not feel like she's controlling a pet at all. The dog is supposed to feel like you are ordering an AI companion around, not like a projectile
@@darthvaderreviews6926
Because it's supposed to be a dog, and not a conjoined spirit of a dead baby that rips itself out of your chest.
But by the time they do no one will rlly play her
Man, the Twins are STILL buggy after all this time, they ain’t doing shit.
4:35 I just realized he's playing the pirate world music from plants vs zombies 2 in the background
As a pvz fan, i enjoy that
Yup
We should’ve had Captain Deadbeard as a killer instead.
My relationship with the houndmaster is a toxic relationship, I get frustrated upset and yell at how dumb this killer is but my god its so fun when it works out and i keep coming back
Goes from being the most miserable experience of my life to feeling like I’m the best killer the world has ever seen
They should do two things: make the dog spectral, meaning he only spawns when you call upon him (or stand still so you can pet him) and that spawn should ALWAYS be beside you
And the dog should down players who are deep wounded, incentivising you to use houndsense and make a fairly alright gameplay loop of search > chase > down
Honestly that is a good idea. You would think that a huge dog like Snug would do some damage or something.
Dont make snug go away, booooo
@@firetube8288 his constant noise fucking irks me, feels like hes licking and breathing in my brain
The only problem i see with this is that it would incentivize tunneling as if you hit someone after they are unhooked, the survivor is left with very little counterplay.
Well, huntress and slinger can and also easily do it and HM has a lot less going for her
I think the Pirate with a Dog concept is kind of strange. I think this would have been cooler if she was a lion tamer with a lion instead and could have been friends with the clown in the lore.
I've been saying this since the Hound Master was available in the PTB:
She feels like playing The Twins with extra steps, and those extra steps make her worse
Houndmaster has my favorite power, who DOESN'T want the dog to randomly stop moving for no reason?
I have 50k shards and every other killer in the game, yet I still don’t want her.
Some bugs are to be execpted with every killer release, but we should NEVER have a twins release when we are 8 and a half years into the game's lifespan, its honestly digusting that bhvr threw this out and expected us to be happy, really shows what they think of us doesn't it
It looks like they didn't touch the power since PTB. She's really fun but EVERY game has one of those painful, game ending bugs.
"She's broken... not in a good way" was the best summary LOL
Skull merchant was never flawed. The game was flawed at the time of her release
Worst killer design ever...

12:40 i LOVE these kind of moments).
Thank you for the review from different aspects of the chapter.
The dog does injure survivors but only if they are half way starting a vault

"Don't buy the cosmetic, I did though"
What’s your point?
But if you bought it not knowing half those things then that's something that is just on you for actively ignoring what it shows you.

great video, one critique, when you talk about perks like this, it would be nice if you started by saying what the perk DOES..

I feel the dog inconsistencies can be played around and the more you play her the more you will feel it, so it's a part of the skill
5:06 love the PVZ 2 pirate soundtrack in the back lol. Fits with the character really well
the main fix is to have bigger hitbox for the chase command, if hatchets have big hitbox why a fk dog doesnt? the whistle to use the chase command should be either removed or twik, it gives a lot of info to the survivors, where are you, what power are you using and even when you release the power "now" and when you control the dog.
Got error code 3 this chapter right after spending $50! Won't let me play a single match and Bhvr support wont answer me...

@@MintSkull Yeah it was me any my dads favorite game to play together and research says that this error is pretty much as good as a hardware ban, all because of EAC messing up somehow this update!
Im so sorry man i hope it gets fixed soon so you and your dad can play together again
Gonna buy it anyways cause I'm a completionist, but I feel like this killer would've been much better if they sort of "streamlined" Snug, because right now he's a very big random factor in Houndmaster's power
First, they should give Snug a predetermined amount of time it will take for him to come back to you after being sent out, and if for some reason by the time this time ends Snug is still not by your side, you should get him automatically.
As a modern knight main, i hope her bugs are fixed so she could be decent too, give snug some teleportation abilities
🤝Fellow Knight Player
I predicted that this killer would have been a buggy mess the moment I saw her power in the PTB, I'm gladly saving my BP and IS for other characters
I bought her with shards, played 6 games to get an adept and promised myself to never play her again. It was painful
I only got her for her perks, the scourge hook one and the anti heal one are going to be amazing on certain killers. The lunge one is similar to balanced landing, insane on some maps and not usable on others
Thank you, at least someone else see's a problem with the overpriced not legendary skin
They completely forgot about Twins. And they still won't give victor something to wear, Ormond is really cold little dude needs a jacket.
I don’t know why the skin is legendary if it’s not licensed and they didn’t do that to the were elk, so I hope all of these gets fixed
PLEASE ITS STILL TECHNICALLY PTB 😢
LET US CONTROL THE DOG DAMMIT!!!
I like this chapter personally. It gives me memories of learning twins all over again. A little jankie, but I like it when a survivor walks, and asks if they can pet that dog.
I keep getting tunneled out of the game whenever i play against every killer
"What the dog doin'???" Everything except what you want it to do...
I think the chapter is pretty good. Yes buggy af and not beginner friendly but very fun. They will fix the bugs and everything will be fine 😊 I mean, let's be honest, is there a dog without bugs/fleas hahahaha
Lmao I liked that comparison, especially in the Entity's Realm it is expected to have some bugs and fleas!
I have found her dog going wild in the searches, and the chase command can be clunky, but it hasn't cost me a match
Costed me so many games and chases
hound master needs an update to the chase music, its so mid to even bad. i actually hate hearing it already
I love shoulder the burden it is the very perk design I've been longing for
Very weird that they didn’t change the Mori too.
Not only would it be fun and interesting and probably not op but it would make the code the devs wrote to make her slower while in the search command not completely useless because there's no way that's lasting for long and it would actually make some sense here
lmk your opinions plz so I didn't just waste my time writing this :P I like hearing them
Your proposition is cool. But Bhvr doesn't care 😢
I got fed up with how garbage hound master is.
gotta agree with portia's buggy doggo, i experienced it myself, but it was bad during only one match, and the glitchiness wasn't consistant
i remember sending it to distant generators and i sometimes saw it slightly wobbling as it ran to its target
also on midwich i sent the dog to a gen next to one of the exits and it legit got stuck on a doorway, right next to its destination - the guy just stood there, snarling, growling, and slightly moving, like an animatronic attraction
i thought that the power got permamently broken, but after a surprising amount of time, the dog finally returned
an easy solution would be a "return" command - portia whistles and maybe moves her finger around, and then the dog returns to you, preventing the dog from getting stuck (and if it can't pathfind, the game should detect the dog being stuck and teleporting it to portia)
then there's the power itself - if you want to select a generator, you have to stop moving and then slowly look around it until the triangle appears above it, otherwise you'll accidentally select an area that's some distance away from the object you wanted to send your dog to
and if the generator is too close to you *and* it happens to be higher or lower than you, you might as well give up, or walk away from it
the not-pirate is probably the first killer i played that's this buggy shortly after release
I would say it doesnt matter if you are casual what ever that I lose chase or match I am having a blast with or against hound master.
the search command needs to be like the auto teleport for draculas bat form, having to aim it is just way too frustrating.
At least you can pet the doggo.
I bought her for perks and so I could have all killers. She’s just a worse pinhead with 0 passive slowdown
I know there's something wrong with the Houndmaster because I played survivor for 3 hours on the the first night of release, I should've seen her in every other match but I didn't see her once; No one seems to want to use her
I do
I have a 100% win rate with her.
@@pegeta define win
Don't worry, we aren't buying
Love that youre not a BHVR shill, 10/10 content.
The dog should down them tbh, a stun is not worth the skill shot
BOOM.
Look at you. Even mint is running that busted ass hex build. God it'd be nice to not see that every other match
Has anyone had a bug where the dog would grab? Someone and the survivor will have no slow down. Whatsoever.
I got her and so far I had fun playing her. 🤷🏼♀️
Some killers are easier to play than others.
The only explanation for them to release her like this is: How DEVS PLAY THE GAME
-They run in straight easy to catch lines.
Good point.
But i think the were Elk skin for huntress Costs exactly as much as the houndmaster skin
clean break just needs a timer reduction to the heal 40 seconds would still feel risky but not too long like 60 seconds I say.
As a killer main I have very different opinions on the killer for (I love playing her and hate playing against her lol)
Omg I can't believe you cant stack invocations like you can boons! Thats so stupid! I am so glad I didn't buy her.
First and the last time i bought a dlc on a release date. Next time imma wait 3 months
I feel like if BHVR sees this then instead of reducing the price of the legendary skin, they'll instead just increase the price of the others so they're even.
Sometimes the dog will injure a survivor when you use the chase ability over a pallet at the same time.
