I’d say yes because it didn’t really change the game. Xenomorphs power was the most boring and generic thing they made. Cmon there was so much you could have done with his power but they chose the most boring thing about him
Literally nothing was wrong with Xeno’s old chase music. It was perfect. Now we have some cringey Monster Hunter chase music now instead of an Alien’s chase music.
@@HPLovesCraftsCat people still forget that its still pretty much an indie title with the weight of triple A franchises and responsiblites on its shoulders, its weird but amazing how they managed to load this shitty little online game from 2016 with so many franchises, yet i still play
The thing that I was disappointed the most isn't his chase theme or his map, but it's the fact that Xenomorph has the most threatening standing and walking animation in this game. I took one look at his standing and walking animation and I was very intimidated and very excited about him. Then I found out that I can only see him in his crawling animation 99% of the time since that is when he can use his power and I was disappointed.
@@MintSkull Something like that might be possible. Or maybe the dev can make Xenomorph power be like the original doctor, with stance switch and everything. That way, they can make him switching from the "walking animation stance" ,with tail stab/acid spit/whatever power, and the "crawling animation stance" with the speedy stealthy ambush power. I'll admit this thought process wasn't from "How to make Xenomorph more faithful and fun" but from a "That walking animation is such a cool looking one and I want to see more of it" thought process so it definitely wasn't thought-out well. On the other note: I heard that the dev didn't add wall crawling because DBD outdated framework didn't allow them to do it, but I'm not sure where I heard it from.
@@MintSkull No. Not an addon. Xeno should just have the “activate ability” to stand back up when Crawler Mode is active. And Crawler Mode should have Undetectable. Survivors should also not have to interact with the control console twice to grab a turret - it should be a single interaction. For right now, those would be good fixes. But if I had to add another, the Tail Attack should be held/charged for further attack range, with the detriment of slower retraction for a miss.
@@adeptadapter697the crawler mode is already strong enough in chase, hiding her red stain would only make her even less fun to play against. i agree about turrets though its so clunky having to interact twice to get a turret
Honestly it's really sad. I remember how I was so hyped for this chapter, and made various tinfoil hat conspiracy videos. I was massively hyped when this killer released, it's sad that the community just didn't enjoy it as much :(
8:40 the writer of the Alien gut-bursting scene suffered from Crohn's, an incurable disease. He wrote the alien bursting out of the gut as a visual representation of the pain experienced from the miserable affliction
Considering that the Alien is the only reason why I've started playing dbd and is my favorite killer, I'd say it was a success in that it drew in a new player to the game
@@ottooctavius9552 Considering the unknown, an original killer and a goth surv brought the same if not even more public than a monster from a globally famous franchise, I do think it slacked a little
@@watchmehope6560 No he isn’t. [2:43] We’re not even talking about the DLC at this point. But I quite frankly can’t be bothered to spell this out. Yet I will say I also happen to think it’s rather pertinent given we’re living in a moronic cost of living crisis. $12 (or £10 where I am) is a lot to unlock characters. If you disagree, give me your money.
The problem for me is the same as nemesis, although I love him. Despite it looking like the Xenomorph, it doesn’t feel like him at all. I kinda think they made him into a demo knockoff because they lost stranger things, but then they got it back like, the next week. I know that they said in a live stream somewhere that they experimented with wall climbing and it didn’t work out, but I wish they had gone that route instead.
the nemesis concept is interesting, he evolves the virus through the match while infecting people but DAMN the execution is horrible, since all he gains is range and pallet break.
I’m glad they didn’t. That’d be one of the most difficult thing to translate to the player. Singularity has that problem and they don’t even change the plane you’re looking at. Now imagine you try to climb a wall then your controls change and you instantly are on the ground again, for your controls to change once more. There’s no easy way to not make this disorienting for the player.
@@loganwilliams9865 the game aliens vs predator (2010) did a pretty good job of this in my opinion. You’re very right, playing as alien is disorienting at first, but once you get used to it, it’s super fun
The main issue with xeno is definitely the speed of it's gameplay. Xeno should be an extremely fast and nimble killer able to stealthily and quickly run down survivors and mantle windows and pallets quickly. Unfortunately the tail attack while strong and decently fun, just feels slow and clunky at times. You don't feel like a xenomorph unless you're in the tunnels.
I just wish both Xenomorph forms were useful. For example, crawler stance is stealthier and better for anti loop while bipedal form is more chaotic, loud and destructive. Perhaps slightly lower break animations on gens, pallets, and breakable walls and larger terror radius.
I miss the chase music so much, it felt like a sense of urgency something breached the ship something is coming and now its eh like some weird boss battle, if only there was a way to switch it back
@@Hyago70 It's based on James Hormer's work on Aliens. If you don't like it for being "typical boss music", then you'll have to blame James Hormer for being one of the pioneers of boss music.
For me it is the flamethrower mechanic. Whenever you get a good team, you're 24/7 surrounded by flames. Tail power is also very clunky, so I save myself the frustration and play a m1 killer instead
Sounds like a skill issue bro. You can break turrets before it takes you out of power and survivors waste a lot if time just putting them around while you can just go in and out a tunnel. Also tail attack is one if the most free chase powers in the game.
@@doug2555 Finally someone agrees lol, the turrets are a joke of a threat unless of course 2 are stacked together (which is never gon happen with how much time it takes to set up), they just slow you down otherwise your tail has no counterplay in chase. There are even addons to make Xeno more resilient against turrets and more time to react to them. The only issue I've had with them is the tail hitbox, which took me only couple games to learn to become a nonissue.
That's good! What I love about my "Nobody plays" series is that even if a character is unpopular, there will still be diehard fans, as proven by The Twins existance!
Thank You for mentioning other countries. Inflation is getting freaky lately, in Poland Alien dlc costs 50PLN, imagine spending that many dollars on just two video game characters.
Biggest problem with the chapter is that the alien is not a interesting killer to play as and against, the unknown chapter not only included a great survivor but a killer with a good general design, i love the alien franchise but it just doesn't feel like a fun chapter(this chapter was also added in the peak of made for this)
Demo>xeno Demo: feels awesome, flies forward, destroys stuff, Super scary roar, Xeno: Clunky, gets countered by a match, cant destroy things, 10 second feeling cool down from miss, stupid walk
Demo, scary? Hell no. Demo a Goofy little dog. It has a cabbage head! Everything else you said was valid. THIS IS ALL AN OPINION. I personally love both Xeno and Demo. They are both super fun TO ME. And they both look badass TO ME.
Alien is underrated AF. Main that guy since release, the power is just so amazingly strong. You hit in almost every scenario, which is easily played right. High movement speed with tunnels, which they cannot take from you Great Add-Ons Cool-ass Mori Amazing skins Fun to use One of the best Killers to confuse Survivors with the terror radius (M&A, Unforeseen combined with the power which already takes away 8 meters basekit = scary fucking build) My favorite Killer in all of DbD, going for the P100 with this baddie.
Easy way to fix Xeno is to allow him to leave his Crawler mode manually and give his regular mode a sort of "Charge" ability where it runs in a linear path and destroys/damages things, like a mix of Demo and Hillbilly.
I think something that should be brought up more is the fact how much Xeno's tail takes up the screen. I have a lazy eye so seeing the tail constantly makes my eye twitch and lose focus since it's so big and takes up the upper quarter of the screen
Honestly, watching the Alien films (especially the recently released Romulus) makes you realize how important Facehuggers are to the Xenomorph's intimidating presence. The character would be MUCH more popular if there was some interaction with the facehuggers or alien eggs we see in the movies. Someone should start an online petition for Behavior to do a rework, similar to what happened with Freddy.
I feel like making the alien undetectable in power wouldn’t be too far stretched. and before anyone says that’s too broken chucky has a better ranged attack than the alien, is smaller than it, is in third person, AND his whole power revolves around being undetectable. They released the xenomorph and then nerfed it into oblivion with buggy hitboxes and then they made the cooldown for missing a atrocious and they’ve yet to change the hitboxes back so using the tail feels so clunky 99% of the time
I wish they would have added something with mobility, like in the trailer. Jump around, like it does in the movies or bounce off of falls. Boxy Boo from Project: Playtime would be a good comparasion.
the first power idea the devs had for alien was to stick to any wall/big object which sounds cool then you remember the map of cold wind which has the killer shack in the middle of a mostly cornfield only map so the tunnels was a smarter idea
The Xeno was my biggest disappointment in DBD. In retrospect my expectations were something BHVR was never going to actually deliver...I had hoped that Xeno would be a stealth killer with something really cool to make them unique (like, maybe being able to climb on some vertical surfaces). Then he came out as a hodgepodge of killer abilities we already had, and survivors got literal flamethrowers to fight him (that they hate anyway). No speed ability, no jumping of any kind...all you get is "don't get hit by a flamethrower and you can poke people with your tail." It felt so underwhelming and low-effort.
@@ZombieGangster At the time, I believed Singularity's ability to stick cameras to walls and trees was the first step to them adding wall-climbing for the Xeno. It makes perfect sense, except that BHVR would never put that amount of effort into one killer.
@@Moderately_Merciless Wall climbing would be useless on most maps, mediocre on some maps, and overpowered on a couple of maps. As a Xenomorph main, and someone who grew up with a facehugger plushie hanging above their bed, I'm very glad there's no wall climbing. It would be terrible to play and terrible to balance.
@@Moderately_Merciless That analogy is very far off. No shit that "maps affect killers", because that's how maps work. But all maps have always been designed for walking/running on. They have never designed a map with wall crawling in mind, and because of that, it would be a terrible feature. Your previous mention of Singularity's reliance on walls is a good example of this, where places like Coldwind are terrible because there's no walls anywhere, and places like Lery's or Hawkins are terrible because there's walls everywhere. However, Singularity suffers from this far less because he merely uses the viewpoint from these walls, rather than relying on the walls themselves for movement.
the problem with alien is the killer itself-noone want to play the killer because you can be without power and when you vs him-there is a feeling that nothing you can do against hmi
I think the biggest issue with alien is just the fact that it doesn’t feel like an alien he feels like a short nemesis to me when I think of Alien I think of a stealthy apex predator not whatever this is
It (hype) died down as soon as Xeno got nerfed. Nobody is interested in Ripley when we have Sable, Mikaela and so on. The only two things I liked about the entire DLC were Light-footed and Jonesey
@@MrRetsej Oh wow, a whopping dozen in... two and a half weeks. Right next to Elodies, Jonahs, Haddies and so on. Very impressive. Most popular character in the game now, no doubt.

One thing that I’ve always thought Xeno should have been able to do is crawl over downed pallets, sure it would have been the 3rd killer (at the time of its release) to do this but the way it always got about in the films was by crawling, so not allowing it to do that is a missed opportunity.
IMO Xeno's chase theme fits the theme of the whole alien franchise, it sounded so authentic, like an actual alien chase scene that would give you adrenaline. The current theme sounds too...cinematic, not like you're being chased by the most deadly alien organism in the universe.
They should add an ovomorph iri add on that exchanges the tail and turrets for M1 Xeno and facehuggers we can control from the tunnels 3rd person Viktor style (non lethal). You cannot have a xenomorph without facehuggers it feels soulless. (I also cannot stand the low to ground POV)
there's already an addon called ovomorph 😂 it's a brown addon, that decreases the time it takes to enter crawler mode while outside of tunnels by 25% or something
My problem with Alien is It's not fun to play as or against Everytime I play Xenomorph, I get high walls and extremely large maps Everytime I play against Xenomorph, short walls, tiny loops, small maps Teammates don't know how to use flamethrowers and place them in the worst spots Tunnels feel like they're absolutely everywhere and when I play Xeno I'm getting lost in the tunnels This killer breaks loops by making them essentially useless and it becomes W KEY UNTIL YOU DOWN
turrets have a bit of the problem that singularity have with the EMP, being plentiful, meaning survivors are safe a portion of time in early game until they slip out a mistake.
Survs just want all killers to be the same it's why when you see top 10 fun killers to face they all are sucky killers lol and I bet at least 95% of those lists will have trapper at top 3
Whenever I'm playing Xeno and see the survivors have bunched all 4 turrets around one generator, I can't decide if I should supervillain laugh at their incompetence.... Or just rub my eyes and sigh at their incompetence.
As a big fan of Alien, I was super hype we were finally getting it. Ultimately I'm disappointed, the more you play it the more you realize it's just a M1 killer with a removable nemesis tentacle attack. Even sadeko teleport is infinitely better than the aliens tunnel system. Its so dissapointing for such a big IP to have such "meh" to it when they could have done way more.
the reason me and alot of people dont play new killers anymore is dlc price just as you said in CAD it is on average 15$ including tax no one is paying that for 1 killer and survivor the problem is price not content
As someone whos favorite licence of all time is alien vs predator, i was quite hyped and hoped to get a new stealth killer as myers and ghostface and pig are often played for that fun playstyle. When it turned out to be an overpowering chase killer it felt like playing blight or nurse- unfair. And ellen ripley to this day will always look awkward while trying to play as her as it is someone else wearing the same outfits signourney weaver wore. I p100ed the alien and made it my main anyway but the reason i believe people rarely play it now, is at launch the alien felt so ovwrpowering that it won nearly everytime, skyrocketting the players mmr. Once it reached a point where it locked in the mmr to play against really hard players at all times and made other killers bump up to a higher minimum difficulty, the alien starts to feel unplayable just because of the people it always sets you up with because of your old win streak. 90% chance of ttv swf or bully squad, often both. And they will use turrets in massed quantities in specific areas so that you will always lose your power when in other rounds u never got kicked out of it. So ellen is rarely played now because shea awkward, and alien is rarely played now because they were very strong enough to get too high of an mmr to be enjoyable anymore.
I would say it's more of a "kinda" objectively, since compared to other chapters, this one didn't stand out that much even tho we are talking about THE Alien!
@@MintSkull I'm an Alien mega fan so I was probably always gonna like this chapter, regardless of things like Ellen's face. But I still think it overall succeeded in making the Xenomorph extremely oppressive towards a group of survivors, while giving them engaging counterplay. For as weird and not-Alien his power is, I strongly feel it invokes the perfect stress and tension that the character should bring. I don't think it "failed", I think it was Behavior losing sight on the aesthetics of the Alien series and focusing on how it feels to fight the Xenomorph.
Personally this is my favourite chapter ever and probably always will be, and its the one that got me into the game. I owned the game already, I bought it about a year before to play with a freind on steam but I never really got into it. Then I saw the Alien chapter was coming, and with alien being one of my 3 favourite movies ever I decided to try it, and then I played the game non-stop for weeks, I dont think I played another killer for at least a month. Eventually I decided to try playing Oni again I think for a tome challenge and I really enjoyed it and realised the game was fun outside of being a xenomorph simulator and a nearly a year later its my most played game on steam at over 900 hours and I own and play ever non licensed killer and survivor. So without this chapter I never wouldve realised that I already owned my favourite game.
I play Him as a secondary main… technically a she since I use the Queen Xenomorph Skin. Dredge is my boi though. I also really just get the killer with DBD Vbucks/ auric cells
The main thing that turns me away from playing Xeno more than once in a blue moon is the turrets. There just a little bit too much to deal with. If they were toned down a little I would play them a lot more.
My biggest disappointment is the turrets themselves. Xeno is so close to being perfect but the turrets are so bad it ruins it. They’re so bad it leaves xeno with an unchecked power, they are mad unfaithful to the movies and they’re just plaid bland and unfun to use… THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN FLAMETHROWERS that’s literally what they use in the movies. They could function as slower flashlights where you have to lock xeno into animations to get him out of his power. But That’s just my pipe dream :( He’s still cool just so close to being great
It would. Something like Sevastopol spacestation from "Alien: Isolation", USS Sulaco or Nostromo indoors. The wreckage map should've been LV-426 from Aliens
Honestly i was so disappointed by the map more than anything. I liked the Easter eggs, but it was so... generic feeling gameplay wise. I was so excited to see how they would utilise this iconic indoor setting, just for them to cut in half. We got two rooms and a few hallways from the ship, and everything else was just random rocks. Really felt like a letdown
I really enjoy it gameplay wise, but I agree fully that I wish we got a new indoors map. I always wanted the shopping store from Ghostface's trailer! And yeah idc if they suck to play on, I really like them aesthetic wise!
People on Reddit said Ripley's actress refused to allow her likeness to be used because she dislikes video games because she believes them to be too violent. Is there any merit to this?
I think that the disappointment I have with the DLC is that instead of the killer feeling like a xenomorph, it felt like they wanted to cover the hole that the demogorgon left when Stranger Things lisence got removed and just made Demo again with a few changes… and then we got Stranger Things back in the game
There are so many cool things you could have done with him. I was theorizing something with his eggs and facehuggers. Then they made him another nemesis with demo movement ._.
Light Footed has been on my inventory since the day it came out! I am a flashbang-firecracker person, so using light footed gave me the potential to get saves a lot! This perk is so good if you know how to use it. Not only can you easily get saves, but also make the killer lose you in chase. (It's just like the quiet mode in this event) Killers can't hear you at all, especially since BHVR seems to love making footsteps very loud on various surfaces.
before watching this chapter failed because his power was basic. He should have been a stealth rushing power like that fan concept and let him go through tunnels. That would make him so much better!
Eh, nothing really enticed me to play Alien: like sure, neat, the Xenomorph! But when I'm actually playing this creature, I get to play with its tail. No offense to Behavior, but the tail was honestly the last thing I had in mind for Xenomorph as a Killer: I wanted to crawl on ceilings and walls, be a stealth Killer that uses the environment in esoteric ways: current Xenomorph is just sort of a lamer Demogorgon. The fact hooks weren't replaced by cocoons with facehugger eggs below them was a huge missed opportunity.
The power concept of crawling would be extremely retarded,it actually existed for a scrapped killer called "The Smasher" but for survivors, who would need to climb up walls to dodge his attacks,it was extremely unbalanced and dumbshit. The idea of facehuggers is also extremely dumb,The entity wouldn't be the one killing the suvivors if it were facehuggers unless it created it's very own variants of them. I extremely disagree with the dogshit ideas of climbing and facehuggers for xeno's power, and i am glad BHVR doesn't listen to fan killer concepts.
@@TheShape45for the climbing on walls, yeah that would be hard af to balance, but for the facehuggers, it doesn’t matter that the entity didn’t make them, Myers can kill with tombstone, pyramid head can kill without addons, and all killers can mori with an offering. They could totally be an add on as long as they’re balanced
It’s definitely the power is what’s making people not play Xeno. It just doesn't feel like how the 1979 Alien would act. In the trailer we saw the Xenomorph on High alert, slamming itself against walls and rushing towards Ripley. It felt like the xenomorph is doing it’s all to try and kill her. But in the game he’s just like “Hehe…Poke.” I wish they had taken extra time to go with the wall-crawling mechanic they came up with.
The killer just sucks to go against. It has the same problem as old death slinger and one green add-on makes the already weak turrets completely useless.
I just never play Ellen because she doesn’t look like Sigourney Weaver. I like the Alien as a killer but they nerfed their one good perk. Because too many people used it.. BHVR’s calling card. I also didn’t buy the dlc until it was on sale.
I've noticed a pattern going as far back as the Stranger Things dlc that Xeno only permeated, where Bhvr seems to play it very safe with very high-profile licensed killers that everyone knows in order to cater to the most amount of people possible, which has ironically gotten them mixed results. Think about killers like Demo, Nemesis, Wesker, Chucky, etc.; they always have some sort of zoning or dash attack, and maybe a form of map traversal too, which makes them easy and straightforward to learn for players of all skill levels, are fairly strong thanks to an on-command chasing power, and based almost entirely on mechanical skill and chasing, which is more popular than macro-heavy killers who rely more on strategy and planning. Sometimes this works out, as killers like Demo and Wesker are still mostly well loved to this day, but more often than not it leads to the killer's reception being more mixed, or even negative after that initial hype train, like Nemesis, Chucky, and of course, Xeno. The problem is both that players eventually experience fatigue after seeing this archetype of killer time and time again, and that it's usually not very faithful to the killer's source material; I feel like Xeno in particular is a victim of both of these, being unfaithful to its appearance in the first Alien movie, and with its form of short-ranged zoning being a bit redundant, with Nemesis already being in the game
The ultimate reasons the DLC flopped were: 1. The Nostromo Wreckage loops are mostly ass. And it doesn't help that the map is so full of shit that killers with movement or projectile abilities get absolutely shafted. 2. the Xenomorph went from buggy and unplayable to turbo broken overpowered and then back to buggy every other week during the ptb. 3. The Xenomorph's power is stupid in every sense of the word. You're rewarded with your power for doing basically nothing and the ONLY counter that survivors have is inconsistent and limited in number of units existing on the map. On top of that, preparing the loops and dead zones inbetween tiles with turrets acts as passive slow down. And last but not least, the Xenomorph is a 115% killer that doesn't get any real weakness for going into power. He is still 115% with a smaller terror radius and gets a ranged attack that doesn't have a substancial charge up and movement slowdown on top of still having access to basic attacks. There just isn't any negative for crawler mode. All this caused survivors to kill themselves on hook, DC or throw the match as soon as they found out that the killer is Xeno. TLDR; Xenomorph is the licensed version of Skull Merchant with how dispised he is to play against and the Nostromo started the trend of shitty map design. Behaviour simply shat the bed when designing both the killer and the map. I was so hyped for the DLC but that turned into disappointment when it went live.
Literally, one of my most requested franchises to appear and I wasn't at all interested I stopped playing Little before it came out but even Chucky DLC caught me by surprise and brought me in till now! Hopefully Rework
@@zoottii Both Borgo and Toba atleast didn't have absolute garbage for loops back then. Nowadays even Borgo is shit and Toba is not that great either but back then it was alright.
I love playing on nostromo as a survivor, i enjoy the gas pipe mechanic that apperantly a lot of killers don't know about so even if your solo q waste every pallet you can still get value out of those
Nah, the main issue I have with Xeno, is that it was my understanding she would only get in her sneaky power after getting out of a tunnel. Which was proven false when Xeno turned into the sneaky power mid-chase. So then the understanding was that the turrets would be super effective if Xeno didnt immediately hit it with her power, but she can casually walk there and hit the turret with an m1. So then I had the understanding that at least the turrets would apply hinderance in all states. Which, it doesnt. So lastly, I assumed that it then meant that Xeno would lose charges and could not get into crawl mode for some time. WHICH IS ALSO NOT TRUE. Except, none of that is true. There are only 3 effects that give survivors reason to place down a turret: 1. hearing xeno get closer (which, okay) 2. forcing xeno from crawl to walking (kinda the only one that actually matters) 3. being undetectable when xeno is crawling in tunnels (so, why can xeno detect survivors in tunnels in the first place?) And for that, there is up to a 90 second cooldown period to retrieve a single fire turret, when there is only 4. They can almost double the amount of fire turrets and Xeno will not be affected. They can remove/reduce the hinderance from the turrets, and Xeno will not be affected. Why is the survivor sided content for the killer so punishing when it basically does not benefit survivors at all in the first place? Xeno isnt the strongest killer, but has such dogshit overall balance that she is too strong in some cases (and thus boring) or too weak in others (and thus, boring).
While I love playing as the Alien, I hate its power. I wish they did something different than the tail or crawler mode. When I think about the first movie, the alien only used its tail twice, and only one of those was to, potentially, kill someone. I'm not sure what they could've done otherwise, but there is a big difference between the alien in Alien, and the aliens in Aliens, and it feels like they were trying to depict both of them.
The nerf to the tail cooldown killed the killer. Survivors cried so early before learning counterplay and the devs caved and nerfed it. The tail is so punishing, especially on console.
I wouldn't say it killed xeno, it definitely was uncountable cuz of thee cool down, heck even themrheadache a xeno main who made a 200+ page thought ptb xeno was abit to powerful
Bro you have no idea what you are talking about. Even no life comp players were complaining about the tail. There is zero counterplay. You would get almost ZERO distance on xeno if they successfully hit you with the tail. If you're missing a broken chase power that's on you. Post nerf this killer is still A tier and extremely fucking easy
Xenomorph is a Licensed DLC made to give an overwhelming chase Killer to the title's fans. I remember that Alien fans wanted Sigourney Weaver with skins, but instead they got Alien Isolation with pallets. The power isn't fun to face, feels unrewarding to use, and all the perks tied to this chapter are *useless* 95% of games. At least we got a cat! On one of the largest maps to navigate...
Loved how you released this video the exact same time I started watching the Alien film. Watching the movie and then seeing what we have in game, I can see why most people are dissapointed. The eggs and facehuggers, as well as acid spit should have been included somehow, but instead we just got Nemesis 2.0. Going back to the trailer, I can't help but remember the legion trailer where everyone thought it was going to be a mimic of some kind, just to be, well, Legion. Alien is the same. It is seen jumping and running and then we got... tail (and tunnels)... Kinda dissapointed :(
For me i dont play him because i remember survivors seemed to hate going against them. No one seemed to like her, i didnt find it too enjoyable to play so i just rarely pick them
I never saw people asking for the alien lol. I think the alien failed because the avg age of dbd players is 16-28 not the generation of alien fans they thought.
I enjoy playing xeno the thing that's annoying is the turrets the hit box on them is buggy. Sometimes u cant hit the turrets. Also they respawn way to fast good survivors can keep u out of your ability the whole match make u a m1 killer. Also killer needs a little bit of a notification when they do a tail whip there is no notification so thats annoying for survivors
I didn’t like it cause alien was fucking boring. There is so much potential with him. they barley did anything with him No stealth No acid spit No running No crawling on walls No pounce ability Instead it’s just generic hit over loop power with tail. BORING
This is by far the most common complaint I remember when the DLC released, and it's very similar to how people felt sad about Nemesis having a tentacle whip instead of the weapons he can use, the super sprint, jumping out of nowhere, etc...
I think the devs said that DBD spaghetti code and limited framework didn't allow them to make xenomorph crawling on walls ( can you imagine the bugs if somehow wall crawling was in the game?)
@@MintSkull difference was that atleast nemesis had zombies which made him unique and he actually is satisfying to play cause smashing pallets as you chase with your whip actually feels like your playing nemesis even without the rocket launcher But that was in 2021, Alien came out in 2023 so we were expecting something big we did not. It’s sad cause when you see Vecna they did so much to him that he looks amazing power and voice wise. Why couldn’t they do the same to him? They do say that powers take a year to develop? Aliens power seriously took a year to develop?
I feel like his power and it's skill ceiling is too low and pretty unfun tbh. Even the so called counter play of setting up torrets in set locations burns up survivor times since they have to walk with the turret and makes the vulnerable. If that doesn't suck then bear in mind that the flame turret doesn't give you a guaranteed kick out of crawler mode (undertanble) and can be easily countered with a simple tail wip. The dbd devs on a whole have be so scared of balancing the game that the fun aspects and counter play aspects are dying. It feels like this killer and a few new ones have a "it's only a matter of time you'll die" kinda chase where no matter what survivors will inevitably go down at one point.
It was alright, I didn't like the power at all, but the map was good (I know people wanted it indoors, but I think they still did a good take on it) The perks are also pretty good but its a shame Ellens face doesnt look better
I honestly want a full indoors map again, like the shopping store that appeared on Ghostface's trailer. The half / half dynamic is kinda cool but most players just don't interact with the indoors section, like in Forgotten Realm :(

They should have added a meme addon that allows Xeno to not have access to crawler mode in exchange of something cool. Maybe turrets no longer works?
@@MintSkullturrets just hinder like 3/4/5 percent

The tail is super satisfying to get hits with

A lot of maps in the game literally dont have many walls to climb on. I understand why they didnt add a climbing ability.
@@ZombieGangster At the time, I believed Singularity's ability to stick cameras to walls and trees was the first step to them adding wall-climbing for the Xeno. It makes perfect sense, except that BHVR would never put that amount of effort into one killer.
@@Moderately_Merciless
Wall climbing would be useless on most maps, mediocre on some maps, and overpowered on a couple of maps. As a Xenomorph main, and someone who grew up with a facehugger plushie hanging above their bed, I'm very glad there's no wall climbing. It would be terrible to play and terrible to balance.
@@DrakoWulf Most killers are map-dependent. Ever play Billy in Hawkins Lab?
@@Moderately_Merciless
That analogy is very far off.

One thing that I’ve always thought Xeno should have been able to do is crawl over downed pallets, sure it would have been the 3rd killer (at the time of its release) to do this but the way it always got about in the films was by crawling, so not allowing it to do that is a missed opportunity.

Quentin is sadly still the best Final Girl in DBD

I miss the old chase theme. Was more tense then what we got in the end.
People on Reddit said Ripley's actress refused to allow her likeness to be used because she dislikes video games because she believes them to be too violent. Is there any merit to this?
But what about Fortnite T^T???
I HIGHLY doubt that as, pointed out in the video, she was even used in Fortnite and even many other games like Isolation's dlc.
(It's just like the quiet mode in this event)
Killers can't hear you at all, especially since BHVR seems to love making footsteps very loud on various surfaces.
before watching this chapter failed because his power was basic. He should have been a stealth rushing power like that fan concept and let him go through tunnels. That would make him so much better!
I actually really like (and prefer) the PTB chase music of Xeno. I think it's.... "intense".

The ultimate reasons the DLC flopped were:
Literally, one of my most requested franchises to appear and I wasn't at all interested
I stopped playing Little before it came out but even Chucky DLC caught me by surprise and brought me in till now!
Hopefully Rework
Toba and Borgo came out before Nostromo, so Nostromo didn’t “start” the bad map trend. But it is a bad map for looping.
There are only 3 effects that give survivors reason to place down a turret:
1. hearing xeno get closer (which, okay)
2. forcing xeno from crawl to walking (kinda the only one that actually matters)
3. being undetectable when xeno is crawling in tunnels (so, why can xeno detect survivors in tunnels in the first place?)
And for that, there is up to a 90 second cooldown period to retrieve a single fire turret, when there is only 4.
I really enjoy playing Xeno, but it feels like a precision killer with how the tail works now so I’m just gonna wait for cross progression
@@doug2555 pick rate plummeting after that patch 🤷🏽♂️
Kinda dissapointed :(
DBD has a knack of making really good trailers for really lackluster dlc, the hype for the unknown was real, only for it to be a mediocre killer.
every dlc is roughly 12 bucks in CAD (my currency) so I dont really see how its such a big deal?
The moment I saw that flamethrower I knew I wasn't going play the xenomorph
Why? It's really fun!
You can't even use it you just place it for you.@@thecatattheend2250
Like he said in the video, all those noises from the turrets would be too much for me@@thecatattheend2250
Agreed. It’s so unnecessary and alien isn’t even that powerful in crawler mode
Same it s very annoying
There is so much potential with him. they barley did anything with him
No stealth
No acid spit
No running
No crawling on walls
No pounce ability
Instead it’s just generic hit over loop power with tail.
@@MintSkullhe has a point, hit over something killers are the most boring to play against. Slinger doesn't count since he can't do shit
@@MintSkull difference was that atleast nemesis had zombies which made him unique and he actually is satisfying to play cause smashing pallets as you chase with your whip actually feels like your playing nemesis even without the rocket launcher
But that was in 2021, Alien came out in 2023 so we were expecting something big we did not.
It’s sad cause when you see Vecna they did so much to him that he looks amazing power and voice wise. Why couldn’t they do the same to him?
They do say that powers take a year to develop? Aliens power seriously took a year to develop?
@@difference3maker36Most of the work probably went towards designing the tunnel and its atmosphere
Bro covered the mostly positive rating for most recent at the beginning of the video ☠️
I feel that Alien's biggest problem was that it just doesn't feel very good to play. The tail whip is weird and the turrets are obnoxious
I still play it… problem is xenomorph is hard to play…
When you realized that Xeno's just a better Nemesis 💀
It was alright, I didn't like the power at all, but the map was good (I know people wanted it indoors, but I think they still did a good take on it)
The perks are also pretty good but its a shame Ellens face doesnt look better
I honestly want a full indoors map again, like the shopping store that appeared on Ghostface's trailer. The half / half dynamic is kinda cool but most players just don't interact with the indoors section, like in Forgotten Realm :(
@@MintSkull in nostromo wreckage they quite do, problem is that the main building serves only as bridge and shortcut, people barely stay here (unless is that big ass loop near the ramp)
@@MintSkullwhen dbd announced the alien chapter i thought it was going to be a full indoor map inside the nostromo in space and thought that the exit gates were going to be escape pods or something 😂
