For pretty much an hour we just stood there, shoulder to shoulder, waiting. Eventually the Huntress thought I wasn't there and tried to run around the tubs to close the hatch, but I *was* there and I bolted for it the moment she moved. After that was done, it turns out this Huntress was in a call with friends and they found the entire thing to be *comedy* gold and no bad blood was had.
Nowadays the closest thing is a killer slugging the 3rd survivor while the 4th one hides and both wait til the bleed out. I have a lot of nostalgia for old DbD but I don't miss it balancing-wise. It was an absolute nightmare, especially for Killer. Anyone who thinks swfs are bad now, probably would be depressed after playing one match against a bully squad swf from the old days, and never touch the game again. People might not admit it, but DbD now is in it's most balanced state it has ever been and that is a good thing. I just wish there would be a good and reliable way to play private matches against friends in older builds of the game, because there is a lot of goofy stuff that was possible in the broken state the game was in in its earlier years.
It's funny how MintSkull mentions how bad it must have felt to be unhook farmed and then immediatel mori'd without anyway to counter it and that literally happened to me against a Tombstone myers a few days ago.
8:33 DC was also used to “cheat” the killer out of certain perks. If the survivor was on death hook and they know they weren’t being saved, they would waste the killer’s time and DC right before they’re hooked to stop a possible Blood warden or BBQ& chilli etc.
Many times I had one hour hutch standoffs, and it was the most tiring thing ever. I don't know how people wish for old dbd to be back. The only thing i liked was how perks had many colors instead of the standard purple that we have now.
Even that was broken, because the colors were different and thus the rarity as well, common perks barely appeared in the bloodweb compared to rares and very rares. This was the reason why perk rarities was standarized!
the insane thing is you didn't even mention how slow grabs were. way back in the past, the animation for a grab was the killer intercepting a survivor and throwing them from the vault point to the ground, and /then/ picking up. it took an eternity and was almost worse than just getting the down with an attack, only... breaking pallets and vaulting was also incredibly slow lmfao
I am convinced that if they were to revert to the old map design, meaning dark maps and eerie atmosphere, most people would like it that way. Ofc this implies the banning of filters. I have big visual problems myself (cataracts since 12, now 22) and I used to use filters every game, not to increase the brightness, but to increase the contrast between colors. Also, I enjoyed the old, bigger bloodwebs more than current ones.
When you mention Cold wind... Something I've been begging for is the devs to not only make maps darker again and bring back the bouqettes but to make day and night variations of all outdoor maps. Be really nice for a weather system on maps too. Like the chance of redwood have super heavy rain or no rain. Ormand being calm or having snow fall or a bizzard, Dead dog again, calm or sand storm... these variations can happen at random but you can burn an offering to increase the chance of certain conditions
btw for the trapper traps in front of hooks it was a nightmare if you had saboteur couse you couldn't disarm traps when you had saboteur wivh meant sometimes people where going phase 2 in front of you cause you were taking ages to sabo the trap...
I started playing DBD back in 2020 when Silent Hill was the latest chapter dropped (literally started during 4th year anniversary) and I still remember getting matches that started out with 2-3 survivors because someone got dc'd as the match was loading in. fun times, i still remember when people could get stuck on specific spots on any tiles that had hills and the only way you were really getting out of it was if the killer came to help
The only thing I miss from Old DbD is the Survivor running animations. I personally liked it way more when the Survivors limped when they were injured, instead of just holding their stomach, which doesn’t really make sense to me. It kinda looks like they just have a stomachache, when before they actually look hurt because they’re literally limping. (Like let’s be honest, it looks goofy when you step in a Trapper’s trap and they only hold their stomach after they get out of it) I feel like the new injured animation could’ve just been used for when you’re healthy, but infected by Plague, Nemesis, or Wesker, because they actually look like they are sick more than they are injured. Maybe one day they’ll bring back the limping.
I truly miss the hide and seek factor the game had, now a days its just a game of Tag with wall hacks lmao so many Aura reading perks its difficult to stay out of sight, to think I started as a Blendette back on Beta but now I can run killers in loops thanks to many guides and years of practice, only issue I have to day is still getting tunneled off hook, can't figure how to counter a determined killer
The impression of a hide and seek based game was exactly why i started playing in 2021, when it alredy was all about chase. Took me quite a while to get good at running in circles which is the most dull thing you could do in a horror pvp game.
Speaking for the visually impaired. Bring back old coldwind. The new version is a colorblind person's worst nightmare. I might as well be playing with a permanent Blindness status effect. And the survivors basically have permanent Dance With Me for all I'm concerned. Can't see anything. Filters don't help either.
Don't forget: no search bar for perks or anything. Gotta memorize the order, which got even worse if you had a bunch of tier 1 or tier 2 perks, or when green perks still existed. Then you gotta remember the alphabetical order, the *other* alphabetical for the green perks, *and* if you have any lower tier perks. Not to mention how you got teachables back then (when they were called that). As grindy as getting perks on other characters is now, it was way worse when you had to level the character up to at least 30, *then* level up all the other characters so they could have their perks (and level the perk up twice more so you can get it at tier 3).
This video brings me bad memories lol Forget to mention it was possible to blind the killer WHILE he was hooking someone and then the surv would escape the hook.
The only thing i miss about dbd was the atmosphere (not only the darkness but the art direction, style and lightning) and the emphasis on hiding intead of praying ring around the rosie on loops.
People only miss old DBD because of 1.) nostalgia 2.) no body was experts at the game yet 3.) the roles were equally broken 4.) the community was more unified and focused on having fun rather than winning Trust me when I say the game is in a healthier state than it was. If dbd suddenly reverted back to its old state, people would genuinely hate it A LOT. I will admit, I miss old DBD’s lighting. It had such ambient personality to it
Hey Mint you forgot one other thing that was extremely annoying. Before SWF was added you and a friend could potentially play together, but it required you to connect and reconnect in lobbies until you and your friend were paired. I can't remember the exact conditions for this to work since it was back in 2016 but it definitely put us off on playing after a while.
another thing to add to the old bloodweb is that there was a bug that could happen where your character progress would get set to 0 and you would have a full bloodweb (i know this because it happened to me, and robbed me of a legacy)
Or make a gamemode ehich's main feature is the exploits of that old patch. Perk stacking, survivor perks on killer side vice versa, killer getting other's powers, survivors "stealing" killer's power (I'm looking at you, chainsaw Dwight), killers being survivors (like in some bugs, when you suddenly had a killer in your survivor lobby),... And make it without MMR and ranking (just like 2v8), just a fun chaotic mode.
I get why they needed to speed up the killer interactions, but for a lot of them the old interactions slowness added on to the over all look of the game. I'm glad it ain't slow now but I do appreciate the old look.
There are some things I miss from the old days, mainly the ranking system. It is almost impossible now to get a good result as a killer without meta perks and on the survivor side that causes way more tunneling compared to past because killers simply have to do so. Another thing is how the OG spirit worked. Sure she was very powerful but no more than Blight is now, plus she was actually scary because you didn't know if she was playing with you or phasing/vaulting, not to forget the most fun add-on in game the prayer beads which was used for gen/totem grabs. I loved playing as and against the silent spirit. The only way it wasn't fun is if you were a sweat lord, and we already know they will ALWAYS complain about something.
saboing hooks took longer but were PERMANENTLY GONE, self care was a must and super fast healing, every vault was a fast vault, couldn't team up with survivors at all (had to just que and hope you get in a game together), super long que times especially before cross play. i will say i do miss the look of the older maps, and i miss them being bigger. we wouldn't have a 3 gen issue if the devs created better spawns for the gens (greenville i'm looking at you). miss perks that gave bloodpoint incentives.
Double pallet set ups are still around today, they just aren't EXACTLY like how they used to be. With how modern maps spawn, many loops spawn VERY close together and, with how most maps spawn, you often have multiple pallets in a very short distance from each other. Not to mention the amount of windows that spawn facing other windows or pallets, making some set-ups today WORSE than set ups back then. It's embarrassing man.
8:57 That was 5% of the killers. Most of the killers just want an easy match, like nowadays 🤣 I even saw a killer complaining that all killers should have instadown, not just the ones who already have it. When I told him there were perks and addons for vulnerability he said that was too hard, they needed something unique. I thought he was joking, but no. Killers just don't want to learn how to use a character anymore. Sadly most of the players (killers and survivors) don't care about de Bps, they just want to "win". For them "win" is 4k or 4e 🙄 9:36 It's funny because back in the day there was a merit in knowing how to hide from the killer. Nowadays there's no point because killers have so many aura perks and many maps don't have anything anymore. There are "zero areas" where there are literally only trees. The problem is that they created killers that were stronger and now the chase times are extremely short. The average PER CHASE in HIGH MMR (not per match), is approx 30 seconds. From there down, in normal or low mmr it's 15 seconds. So, honestly playing this game is for tryhards... 11:21 The problem with the respawn of pallets is that sometimes there are many and other times there are very few. It is a problem that they have not been able to fix in The Decimated Borgo, for example. 15:47 You're probably talking about your mmr because in my case I always see camping and tunneling. They camp to the point that survivors unhoook on their own and the killer is still behind them. If it goes well 3 will escape but it's a very boring match. Not to mention that, reducing the maps like they did recently in Coldwind Farm, the killer has control of the hook and at least two or three gens... 16:53 See what I'm saying? They don't care about anything other than making 4e or 4k. This game is all about ego, humiliating others, and not about having fun or achieving goals. 18:02 Unfortunately I never managed to get it, it was too hard in soloQ. The problem is that now escaping through the hatch is impossible considering that the killer can move faster and some can even tp and hear it. There are tryhard killers who even wait for you in the hatch just to humiliate you instead of closing it and looking for you, in fact at this point I think they should remove it. There's no point in it existing. And, what they want to do with Mori, it just seems to me that there will be a lot of slug and it won't make any sense, much less sense will it make for the hatch to exist.
I mean the darker maps can be brought back provided you choose opt into it. Also maybe making the outline of survivors seeable in the dark regardless of the cosmetics would go a long way. Because right now the maps are too bright imo, you can literally see survivors from halfway across the map. Plus I feel like the darker filter would be better for indoor maps where you can't see far anyway and have to check corners for jukes. Idk I feel like DBD being a "Horror" game should come before it being a competitive game tbh otherwise its just League of legends and ain't no competent player getting jump scared by Fiddle. As for the pacing I don't mind the faster pacing of the games but I feel it was only made faster because of the objective of doing gens was so boring and killer powers were also not that much more interesting. I think DBD could lend itself to having more types of objectives. Anyone remember Deceit 1, before they turned it into an Among us Clone it was a genuinely good horror game that relied on good communication and had cool objectives.
In the artist update i got a bug where i missed a skillcheck and .5 seconds later the last gen popped but i was still able to complete my gen, fully repairing 6 gens this round
All these old videos but like no one even mentions the fact about save files being lost/wiped. This caused me to lose several legacy cosmetics and BHVR gave me 180millions bloodpoints for it. While they always said "we are looking into it into restoring legacy items back to who have lost is" they have never, ever given them back to me. Been playing since august 2016...
Give me the atmosphere of the dark maps (and give survivors their iri offering again ffs people will be fine) and give me the old visual animations. Survivor movement feels sluggish by comparison now.
make the dark atmosphere a *killer* offering that way the killer can choose to add challenge to their match, by turning Claudette into John Cena could also be used to aid some stealthy playstyles like mirror Myers, wich are usually fun to both play and play against
7 BLINKS? INSTANTLY REPAIR GENS? ok I've played since the game came out and I don't remember this it must of been those years I took my breaks cause got damn oh no no
4:24 god I remembered this. I remember never prestiging my Feng because I didn't wanna lose all the stuff I had as she was the only survivor I played. So glad they changed that crap
I really liked the broken part of dbd when I started playing however it definitely was not okay I think the new dbd is infinitely better health wise but I wish that with the new game mode modifiers they would bring something like op everything in the game for example 7 blink nurse, og dh, iri hatchet huntress, current otr. Basically everything is made or kept at its strongest state based on past/current builds of the game
I remember when killers could be trapped in asylum maps by jumping on survivours from the second floor. Because how weird game physics were and killer hitbox couldnt hit survivours underneath survivours could just not let killer move or hit anyone, so the only move was to dc from match. But it still wasnt as absurd as myers with chainsaw, perk stacking or being able to use perks from other opponent side
cross progression wasn't BHVR fault it was issue with platform not wanting to lose money on the dlc you can see that with how switch dlc doesn't cross over
Drink water every time I say "Back in the days" 😅

Many times I had one hour hutch standoffs, and it was the most tiring thing ever. I don't know how people wish for old dbd to be back. The only thing i liked was how perks had many colors instead of the standard purple that we have now.
Even that was broken, because the colors were different and thus the rarity as well, common perks barely appeared in the bloodweb compared to rares and very rares. This was the reason why perk rarities was standarized!
@@MintSkull fair enough, still though I think it added more uniqueness, if you ignore the fact that it was disadvantageous
Why were they even differently colored anyways?
@@lostindementia2705 probably because they were good but not as good to be considered purple tier
Luckily you can find UI mods that change the perk icons to the old versions (on PC anyway)
the insane thing is you didn't even mention how slow grabs were. way back in the past, the animation for a grab was the killer intercepting a survivor and throwing them from the vault point to the ground, and /then/ picking up. it took an eternity and was almost worse than just getting the down with an attack, only... breaking pallets and vaulting was also incredibly slow lmfao
I don’t miss the old dbd itself, I miss how It felt to play with your friends when you were new to the game
Also, I enjoyed the old, bigger bloodwebs more than current ones.
old flashlights use to blind you not only in game but in irl to 😂
When you mention Cold wind...
I remember when every grab began with the person being put to the ground, which was so dumb
btw for the trapper traps in front of hooks it was a nightmare if you had saboteur couse you couldn't disarm traps when you had saboteur wivh meant sometimes people where going phase 2 in front of you cause you were taking ages to sabo the trap...
(Like let’s be honest, it looks goofy when you step in a Trapper’s trap and they only hold their stomach after they get out of it)
I feel like the new injured animation could’ve just been used for when you’re healthy, but infected by Plague, Nemesis, or Wesker, because they actually look like they are sick more than they are injured. Maybe one day they’ll bring back the limping.
It was a disaster but a beautiful one
Honestly the darker atmosphere added to the horror for survivors, so maybe just have maps darker for survivor but not for the killer. Perhaps.
When i bought it in 2016 hiding in bushes was really fun
I still stand by that old aura looks better than the new aura outline
Nahh Jake just had that 900 ping
Average experience for Europeans back in 2017
@@MintSkull "Europe is the most peaceful continent" Europe's connection: 💀💥💥💥
The only thing i miss about old DBD is the lighting on some of the maps haha
Hell, no, because of palette vacuums, no end game timer, old hook animation that was very slow
The only thing that I want back from old DBD is the cold wind farm aesthetics
6:00 "Bah-sick" I'm in love with your accent it's so much fun :3
This video brings me bad memories lol
Forget to mention it was possible to blind the killer WHILE he was hooking someone and then the surv would escape the hook.
For the people D/C in the loading i remember one night I literally had 3 games where when I spawned in it was just me and the killer
The only thing I miss about Old DBD was the looks of the old maps, everything else was horrid 😭
Man I just want the old HUD and animations back lmao.
Remember when the murky fog stacked?
Mori spamming was so bad back then. I can still remember when a Ghostface did it to me as BM
Remember when you got stuck on the tree roots? The only way to get out was stepping on a trapper trap
I agreed I don't miss those too but I do miss the old barbecue and chill and we're gonna live forever they give you blood points
The maps looked so more spooky tho😢
i dont want old dbd back outside of map aesthetics.
The only thing i miss about dbd was the atmosphere (not only the darkness but the art direction, style and lightning) and the emphasis on hiding intead of praying ring around the rosie on loops.
I remember once going against a Bubba who had the pinhead box in the game once which just kept on catching us against Bubba
Well... having more gens you can complete would be a pretty good thing to have as a bonus, now that the killer can open the gates.
The best solution for everything " DEAL WITH IT"
People only miss old DBD because of
1.) nostalgia
2.) no body was experts at the game yet
3.) the roles were equally broken
4.) the community was more unified and focused on having fun rather than winning
Trust me when I say the game is in a healthier state than it was. If dbd suddenly reverted back to its old state, people would genuinely hate it A LOT. I will admit, I miss old DBD’s lighting. It had such ambient personality to it
Number 4 isnt true, today much more ppl play both sides, back then survs X killers was much worse.
Its always has been bad, but its always been fun DBD has that unique gameplay loop that makes me comeback until i get a skull merchant.
I know it's a licensing thing stopping it, but I genuinely hope they add Chainsaw Myers as a secret gamemode or something, expressly for the meme.
2:19 , Ngl back then trapper's setting trap animation was good than it is now .
You could take a nap mid animation
BRING BACK OLD DBD'S LOOK IT WAS AMAZING
Rost is gonna be mad 😭
I would love to go back to 2018 -2019 era of DBD, definitely loved it back then, maybe I changed but nowadays I just don't find it fun anymore.
Anyone remember pallet vacuum?
I do
Double pallet set ups are still around today, they just aren't EXACTLY like how they used to be.
Chainsaw myers was terrifying
That title implies current DBD is not a disaster, yet it is.
It really isn’t lol this community is just bitchy
Today I have a game with 3 survs and me as a killer from the start. Maybe this bug is still here or maybe I met cheater idk
old dbd was 100 times better than current dbd even with all of the bugs.
For them "win" is 4k or 4e 🙄
9:36 It's funny because back in the day there was a merit in knowing how to hide from the killer.
I survived pre 6.1.0 bloodwebs
Me too
In the artist update i got a bug where i missed a skillcheck and .5 seconds later the last gen popped but i was still able to complete my gen, fully repairing 6 gens this round
Thx for using my gameplay!! It's been a pleasure being part of this video!!
Of course man!
Old dbd depends on when you started
Give me the atmosphere of the dark maps (and give survivors their iri offering again ffs people will be fine) and give me the old visual animations. Survivor movement feels sluggish by comparison now.
Nah that white screen flashlight is insane 😭😭
I simply couldnt play it it were like that today.
Ghost Face flying with huntres power 😂😂
make the dark atmosphere a *killer* offering
that way the killer can choose to add challenge to their match, by turning Claudette into John Cena
could also be used to aid some stealthy playstyles like mirror Myers, wich are usually fun to both play and play against
Sit down and listen, MintSkull is talking
I remember all of those stuff 😭, good times
Literally just make a graphical option in the settings to make the lighting darker or not. Have a legacy lighting option or something.
I managed to like the video before the trapper managed to put down a trap!
Idk man dbd now is a pretty miserable experience. Everyone plays it like they’re in the esports finals the old game had personality.
7 BLINKS? INSTANTLY REPAIR GENS? ok I've played since the game came out and I don't remember this it must of been those years I took my breaks cause got damn oh no no
Im sorry if i had the chance i would go back to old bdb was way more fun even tho yes it was broken
Sooooooo to be fair. Are you going to do a video that shows how big of a disaster modern DBD is?
Seriously how is chainsaw Mikey not a game mode
4:24 god I remembered this. I remember never prestiging my Feng because I didn't wanna lose all the stuff I had as she was the only survivor I played. So glad they changed that crap
I really liked the broken part of dbd when I started playing however it definitely was not okay I think the new dbd is infinitely better health wise but I wish that with the new game mode modifiers they would bring something like op everything in the game for example 7 blink nurse, og dh, iri hatchet huntress, current otr. Basically everything is made or kept at its strongest state based on past/current builds of the game
Any one else remember when the match loading screen took 15 minutes?
Everyone who says “old dbd was better” never played old dbd
I remember when killers could be trapped in asylum maps by jumping on survivours from the second floor. Because how weird game physics were and killer hitbox couldnt hit survivours underneath survivours could just not let killer move or hit anyone, so the only move was to dc from match. But it still wasnt as absurd as myers with chainsaw, perk stacking or being able to use perks from other opponent side
cross progression wasn't BHVR fault it was issue with platform not wanting to lose money on the dlc you can see that with how switch dlc doesn't cross over
Old dbd was less sweaty and a lot more wholesome. Why do new players not get that 🤡
