@@FantaxxiaTV Thats what I found so interesting about the show. A lot of people talk about executing criminals but when given the chance to do so, most people won't do it.

100% that's the best part of this show. Most shows would want to explore the process of him going insane and being corrupted by access to this evil power. Death Note just skips that and says "he's is now an insane intelligent god-complex murdering narcissist. And.... go!"
There's so much symbolism in this show. Apples = sin, etc. The first episode establishes the concept of the show, but the second episode is what absolutely hooked me on this series.
@@FantaxxiaTVafter death note you should try watching monster from naoki urasawa it's complex dark Mystery anime like death note but even better with very complex philosophy symbolism

You are correct in saying that the Willem Dafoe Death Note movie is terrible.. but through no fault of his own. Willem Dafoe was the only good part about that movie. It is genius casting to put him as ryuk and he does a great performance. It is just the other 98 percent of the movie is just.. I'll put it this way: it is up there with the avatar live action and DragonBall live action movies. Equally hated by their respective fan bases, in my opinion.
I havent even bothered watching it cuz I already know from video essays that it's the worst adaptation of DN we've ever gotten. Good thing I saved myself 1 hr & a half of embrassement. Reviewers ripping apart however is way more entertaining thing about it to me.
What a great choice to do a reaction series on. This story relies so much on plot twists and unexpected developments that it makes for a great series to react to.
cram school is an evening school for highscghoolers to get extra preparation for college entrance exams. since education in japan is so highly competetive many are unable to qualify to be allowed into high school let alone university
huzza a new series, also what im about to say is infered in this episode so no worries about spoilers just so you know light isnt just a teenager, he's one of the smartest teenagers in the country, when his mom asks for his tests they're the "nation wide exams" and he got first place, first place in all of japan, so he's not just a teen, he's a teen genius with a strong desire for justice who just got unltimate power and a buddings of a god complex without saying specifics because SpOiLeRs, this is a very smart show and i think you'll enjoy the ride
If you do another poll in the future, I'd suggest picking a genre outside the realm of FMAB or DN. Good anime has a way of drawing you in regardless of the topic. Sports, romance, slice of life, comedy, isekai, food, music, unwilling protagonist, and many more and even more subcategories.

There's 2 live actions death notes. The Japanese one is one of the best live action anime movies. Not much competition since most are terrible, but it's pretty good. Live action Rurouni Kenshin is the best I've seen. The action scenes are amazing. The english Netflix Death Note with Wilem Dafoe as Ryuk is terrible. Dafoe did fine. let's make it clear, the man could do no wrong and was the only redeeming quality the movie had. but not even he could cover up the rest of the shit in the movie
Just a heads up, this show is visually amazing, edgelordy af, some geniunely surprising dramatic moments, and it handles almost all of its femme characters abysmally. A crazy, worth while journey, but not without it's faults.

The Live Action Netflix series changed a lot to "Americanize" it, even though it didn't really need to. Now, the Live Action Japanese movies are great. Very little is changed (mostly for condensing sake), and I actually prefer some of things that were changed over the anime.
Live action Netflix Death Note was not good. Live action death note movies from 2003 by VIZ pictures on the other hand, not as great as the anime but still REALLY good
There was a live action drama in 2015 made in Japan, then there was the awful Netflix movie in 2017, (preceded by several movies made in Japan released between 2006 and 2016 which largely speaking are superior.)
